Harbhajan and yuvraj were good players everyone enjoyed their game.. Me too.. but there was a time for them to move out of the team because runs were not coming from yuvraj's bat for long time and bhajji was also turning out expensive and wicketless and that was the time when new talent had to be given chance.
Similarly sehwag was also given many chances even when he was out of form for a long phase.. And now mind you when i say dont be surprised if Shikhar Dhawan lose his place because he is consistently failing to score except one or two odd matches if you look at his 2019 record. And he is also continuously backed up by committee.. They have given him many chances to come back strong.. Itna chance dene ke baad toh self retirement leni chahiye aur apni izzat bachani chahiye me samajhta hu.. Usme farewell bhi acha milega..

Atlhough I do belive that there is favourism and politics in our selection procedures.. Zaheer khan was a man in form and his removal from team was very wrong and injustice to him because he was performing above average all the time and Rayudu not selected was a shock for me.. Rayudu was in good touch... Also manish pandey deserves a place in playing 11 in all 3 formats.. He is fully prepared for international cricket and india is losing the cream of talent by not playing him.. But he is not favourite of some selectors or coach may be.. That is why he is out..

Dhoni wanted to build a new team with youngsters after 2011 WC, like after the disatrous 2007 WC , senior players like Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble were not considered fit for ODI cricket..dhoni had issues with seniors like sehwag, Yuvraj, gambhir and harbhajan, so he was more comfortable captaining a side with youngsters like virat, Rohit, Ashwin, dhawan and jadeja..since india won two WCS under his captaincy, the Board and selectors gave him the team he wanted

This mentality of "I should continue to play because I'm entitled to irrespective of my performance" is not just hurting Indian cricket, but all aspects of India.
You can see same attitude at farmer strikes, corrupt leaders who continue to be in power with hundreds of cases, in inept business leaders, bureaucrats, ips and ias officers.
India lacks the most important value in this world. The word is integrity.
The reason why Dhoni is called the best captain in the world is not because of his intelligence or performance, but highest levels of integrity. How? Take a look at the way he resigned from international cricket himself because he realized he maybe lacking performance due to age. He was not dragged out like sachin, Ganguly or yuvaraj Singh.
Dhoni basically set the same standards for himself, like the way he did it for others! That's integrity, honor and self respect. People like yuvi would have continued to play even from hospital if he was allowed, I am sensitive to his suffering due to cancer, but such honorless people use positions of power for only self gain.

Somehow I get the vibes that these both, although great players, they want to rest on past laurels but that’s just not possible in the highly competitive world.
For the 2015 World Cup, who ever replaced these guys (Shami, Bhuvi, Shikhar, Rohit) at that point of time these were appropriate replacements.
Similarly, Shikhar despite being an ODI great player couldn’t get a place now in 2023 World Cup simply because there were better options available for selectors.
Each time we can’t just say that injustice has been done…!

He was finally dropped when his performance dipped badly (averaged ~20 in last 10 matches before WC 2015). Similar was the story for Sehwag who averaged ~32 in the period and ~22 in his last 10 matches
Bhajji didn’t perform starting 2010 and wicket averaged 36 while Ashwin was averaging at 23 until 2011 WC, yet Bhajji was preferred over Ashwin for the WC for his experience and played all 9 matches picking just 9 wickets, while Ashwin played just 2 matches picking up 4 wickets with an better economy rate. Later, Ashwin completely outperformed Bhajji to cement his place in WC 2015.

Harbhajan and yuvraj were good players everyone enjoyed their game.. Me too.. but there was a time for them to move out of the team because runs were not coming from yuvraj's bat for long time and bhajji was also turning out expensive and wicketless and that was the time when new talent had to be given chance.
Similarly sehwag was also given many chances even when he was out of form for a long phase.. And now mind you when i say dont be surprised if Shikhar Dhawan lose his place because he is consistently failing to score except one or two odd matches if you look at his 2019 record. And he is also continuously backed up by committee.. They have given him many chances to come back strong.. Atlhough I do belive that there is favourism and politics in our selection procedures.. Zaheer khan was a man in form and his removal from team was very wrong and injustice to him because he was performing above average all the time and Rayudu not selected was a shock for me.. Rayudu was in good touch... Also manish pandey deserves a place in playing 11 in all 3 formats.. He is fully prepared for international cricket and india is losing the cream of talent by not playing him.. But he is not favourite of some selectors or coach may be.. That is why he is out..

Wondering why senior players never want to get dropped despite loss of form, consistency and non-performance. Every team has through go through a churn to induct young players. They all played over 15 years and still crib. Thats pure impractical sulking.

An average of 27 for a number 7 batsman is different than an average 27 for a number 3 batsman. Besides, what Dhoni brought to table other than his batting and keeping was his cricketing brain and tact which all of those senior lacked.

I partially agree! Though Harbhajan, Gambhir are greats of the game, it was their form which kept them away from getting a place in the team, For Bhajji, wickets dried up and he became more kind of a economical bowler. Gambhir stopped playing in ' V ' and started playing more towards third man which earned him nothing but few edges. However Sehwag, Yuvi and Laxman deserve much more better treatment than they actually got.
Atleast Yuvraj singh deserved place untill 2K19.

The thing is that no one absolutely no one in Indian cricket want to retire on their own, they want to continue as long as they can, everyone wants to be a tendulkar or kumble, but that can not happen, see other country players who retire at their peak form even when they not reach 35. And wasn't Yuvraj Given chances, he was given chances in 2017 CT but if he could not capitalize on it neither want to retire then who could do what, when there are soo many young talent available then a bad performing player has to be dropped. One more thing every other player from this batch seems too too jeleous of DHONI, one have to accept in a team everyone can not be a legend, there are very few legend and rest other are players who give their best. Every other Player from other countries who got farewell retired in good form, so its simple if you want to comeback then perform well otherwise don't argue for a farewell, it is just not possible given the large pool of young talent that India have.
This mentality of "I should continue to play because I'm entitled to irrespective of my performance" is not just hurting Indian cricket, but all aspects of India.
You can see same attitude at farmer strikes, corrupt leaders who continue to be in power with hundreds of cases, in inept business leaders, bureaucrats, ips and ias officers.

The reason why Dhoni is called the best captain in the world is not because of his intelligence or performance, but highest levels of integrity. How? Take a look at the way he resigned from international cricket himself because he realized he maybe lacking performance due to age. He was not dragged out like sachin, Ganguly or yuvaraj Singh.
Dhoni basically set the same standards for himself, like the way he did it for others! That's integrity, honor and self respect. People like yuvi would have continued to play even from hospital if he was allowed, I am sensitive to his suffering due to cancer, but such honorless people use positions of power for only self gain.

I may be wrong in my assumptions but I can see two patterns.
One after 2007 world cup when our team was ousted in first round. Second in 2011 world cup when we actually won.
After 2007 world cup some senior players retired but overall team had a much better stability with good amalgamation of youth and experience. Whereas after 2011 world cup especially after Sachin's retirement our team was torn down many players were removed and team lacked stability and it's most prominent effect was seen on test cricket when we kept on losing in foreign grounds
