    finally made me get why in live performances when the high note comes singer bends or crouches. I thought it was just a showmanship.

    I like to share articles or videos about this technique, because although I don't sing, I do know there is a well-known heavy metal singer that has been bending at the waist during live performances for the better part of 30 years. Most people joke around and make comments that he is bending over to read from a teleprompter, but I have always suspected he was utilizing this technique to assist in reaching his full vocal range.

      Zach, Thanks for posting this. I have never made this connection with heavy metal singers, but you are probably right :)

      Who's the singer?

    • @zach7948
      @zach7948 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@TinyPandemonium the indomitable Rob Halford from British heavy metal band, Judas Priest. In his youth he was an incredibly versatile singer, but now in his later years (he is in his early 70's) climbing up and down his vocal range is much less easy. On a good night he is still brilliant behind the microphone though.

    I'm guessing when we bend forward with a relaxed jaw, gravity helps lower the larynx for us without having to tense up? Thank you for this tip, Roger!

      The main benefit is to focus the your breath support on your lower abdomen, and to keep everything above the sternum loose. I am sure that your theory could be true too :)

    Wow! Didn't know this was a thing. I guess it's good for practicing the notes but would look pretty silly in an actual performance setting haha

      Shelby, You are right, we never do this and performance :-) But it’s great to understand where the air support comes from.
