  • On July 23, Linda Black Elk (Catawba Nation) Indigenous Ethnobotanist and Indigenous Food Sovereignty advocate spent a little over an hour speaking about a variety of Indigenous (Native) and non-Native species plants that are nutritious and help aid in several health related issues. Some of the plants she shared about on the plant walk were:
    Yarrow
Plantain (broad leaf and narrow leaf)
    Burdoch
    Mullien
    St. John Worts
    Dock
    White Pine
    Dandelions
    Spruce Tips
    Golden Rod
    Rose Hips
    Chokecherries
    Wild Oregano
    and others.
Learn what goes into making healing teas, cough syrups, plants good for lung support, burns, blood infections, stress and anxiety, and more.
Event was funded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services Behavioral Health Division and organized by the American Indian Community Housing Organization.

My mind is blown re: burdock being native/hybridized. I thought it was invasive! Wow.
