The shuttle was not discontinued because of the Giants leaving NY. It lasted until the Putnam Division of the NY Central was abandoned in 1958. The Putnam Division ended under the Sedgwick Ave Station and the shuttle was the way people continued their trips to NYC.
Update: i was able to get up on that tall rock structure and get in the abandoned station thanks to you. It took a couple tries to get up on that entrance where you got up on but i managed to get up and i had the best experience up here. Thanks alot
This is becoming one of my favorite channels. One cool idea would be if you had a drone. You could get around those fake buildings that are just a wall and see what's on the other side. I dig how you add some history to this too.
Thankfully, I got to walk through the tunnel in the early 90's from right under the Deegan to Jerome Ave. It will be an experience I will never forget. To the younger generations; Keep exploring!!!
They are definitely talking about extended the 3 trains to the Bronx to connect to the Jerome Ave 4 line to Burnside Avenue Elevated line Bronx. They are definitely gonna clean all that mess and lay the old tracks and the old Thrid rails. They will find another way for the 3 trains could go around the new Yankee stadium 🏟️.
Just started watching your videos and man, it's great to have someone share a wealth of knowledge about the NYC transit system and taking us to places only few people dare to tread.
I can’t thank you ENOUGH for the work you do not just here specifically - although I DO want to give you MUCH credit for this particular episode/journey, because it has SO much meaning to me now and you did the leg work and described it perfectly - but overall with all of your videos. Informative, FUN, really interesting and engaging, I enjoy them a lot. With respect to this particular video, I’m in my 60s now and I grew up in The Bronx and was a HUGE subway enthusiast as a kid and young adult, and I’ve had recurring dreams most of my life where a subway is running essentially right through a series of apartment buildings (weirdly, in my case, I imagined it through all the connected yards of my apartment building and the adjacent buildings), and I wasn’t sure if that was something I’d really experienced or observed myself. And now I know this was a real thing. I swore south of Tremont like the high 160s and Grand Concourse in the Bronx, that I was on an overpass that had tracks below it, and this WHOLE time I’ve been asking myself if it could really have been tracks running below apartment buildings and it very may well have BEEN. Thanks to your investigation and presentation of these awesome abandoned platform stations!
Dude I was looking for this very video. I grew up on Woodycrest Ave right off of McCombs Ave. As a kid, I stumbled onto that very tunnel and station in your video. On the 4 train going south there were tracks that went down and to the right which used to be the pole grounds. Thank God for you. People thought I was crazy years later
Great vid. One comment. The tunnel between the Sedgwick Ave and the Jerome/Anderson Ave stations ran under W. 162 St. to Anderson Ave and continued under the apt. Building to the Anderson/ Jerome Station platform. I think the street with the hill in your video shows Anderson Ave where it connects with Jerome Ave, south of where the El. remnants are at what was W. 162 St. NYCT Website has photos of the inside of the tunnel where it had an emergency exit at Woodycrest Ave under W. 162 St just west of Anderson Ave. Pls post your response to my comments. I may be wrong.
I used to live in Highbridge which you were at the bottom at on Anderson … it’s all Rock that’s why it’s elevated .. that’s the Highbridge area … never knew there was a train running under it living there… thanks for the info
THAT IS CORRECT!!! You know your history-I was born and raised in the Bronx! Left in 75!! Jerome and Grand Concourse!!!!! Hey get a heavy crowbar and crack that open!! BRING HISTORY TO LIFE AGAIN!!!!
They could definitely bring the Three trains to the Bronx. All they have to do at 145 street five first cars stops and they could make it a elevated lines to run across 155 street birdge along side the roads make it concrete structures and go around the new Yankee stadium. Or they could dig a hole 🕳️ at 148 street tunnel and make a right curve and a right curve going out ground passing the polo grounds building 🏢 concrete structures to reconnect to the 4 Jerome Ave 4 line to 167 or Burnside. All they have to do is to seal the wall panels that they could use the special machines . They was definitely talking about extended the 3 trains to the Bronx. I have a real spriital feeling they are gonna bring back the Putnam railroad devisin I'm telling you. They have the new engineers could rebuild the ninth Ave Elevated line. All they have to do is to re do the train tracks and Thrid rails . The 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line is definitely not a problem rebuilding back. The ninth Ave Elevated line would definitely be difficult to rebuild because of the new Yankee stadium 🏟️ . They will definitely find another way for the Three trains to pass.
I just recently discovered your channel and I think you are hands-down the best on NYC subway RUclips. You’re incredibly informative and you clearly have a passion for it, plus I just like your style. Thanks for all you do brother and God bless
Great content. Love the history. Gonna watch more often. Keep up the good work. I worry about you going through these abandoned places as you never know what crazy people you might run into
Hey man I grew up on Anderson Ave!!! That building on your right is 941, it has two entrances. One on Jerome and the on Anderson Ave! WOW!!! We used to race up that Anderson Ave hill. That Mansion across from 941, used to be a Muslim mosque, with a full court gym, and Olympic swimming pool.
Heck! I don't even recognize the South Bronx anymore. I remember that back in the 1960s there was still elevated train tracks in the center of the subway line that went to Yankee Stadium with th 3rd rail still there North of the Yankee Stadium station on the 4 subway line.
There a tunnel there that's blocked off..if you walk toward the highway, there's an entrance there. Also under the highway...born and raised there, used to play in those abandoned tunnels.
Thanks for telling us how to get there I’ve wondered for years how to get there I’m just concerned if i go there if someone will call cops on me And how to get down from there
The kid on the bike in New Jack City was Chris Rock. So while Will Smith got even more famous for slapping Chris on live TV, Ice-T shot him about 30 years before that. Thanks so much for the look into my old neighborhood. That road you were on is probably going to be for maintenance crews and MTA personnel.

VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE
God bless you man . I'm in tears watching this video. I lived there in 1963 as a kid .memories flooding back. Thanks again for the memories
Wow ..I walked that hill a million time to get to Woodycrest Ave and never knew any of that...thnx. now I can wow my friend with this info ..🎉🎉🎉🎉

Bro you doin good work. This is mad interesting I been watching your videos for 2 hrs now. Keep it up bro.
Yo you need more than 290 subscribers you have good content and you don’t hide how to get to these places
Great content. Love the history. Gonna watch more often. Keep up the good work. I worry about you going through these abandoned places as you never know what crazy people you might run into
Great video ! Before cars & buses, it was trains and trolleys , it was all eliminated to make people dependable on cars and buses!
While there may be truth to what youre saying it was eliminated because of costs and lack of use and redundancy in the system.
Thansk for showing how to get to the platforms , seems like folks never wanna show how they enter
It's understandable. If they show it that makes it easier for the authorities to close the entrances.
Keep doing you my brother! Love the videos 🩵 💯
I watched all your history videos.
I grew up running in those tunnels... I know them like the back of my hand
Wow, I never knew about the trains in that area. Good video, thanks.
Good stuff my brother
Thanks for bringing this to us.
Good stuff, man. Keep it up.

Can u do videos bout the other underground closed/abandoned stations in the Bronx and toward fordam I heard where around
Thus vid fire bro i had no idea
Played in that tunnels from both ends not long after the line closed. Late '50's into the early '60's
The Shuttle it was a hangout in the 60's, you had an elevated track next to Mullaly's, around Jerome, they sliced it off
Kid on the bike was Chris Rock, great video, keep up the great work 👍
Wasn't that used for the shuttle into Coogans bluff and the polo grounds in Manhattan
Great Vid.
What's the name of that NORE BEAT IN THE BACKGROUND??
i use to play in there in the 80s..we use to walk through the tunnel to the next stop..
There a tunnel there that's blocked off..if you walk toward the highway, there's an entrance there. Also under the highway...born and raised there, used to play in those abandoned tunnels.
cool vid
I got bit just by watching this video
Well done.
I grew up in that neighborhood i know another entrance and theres another into that station that requires heavy work to get into.
Wow i past there everyday i had no clue that was old station
We used to sled down that hill in heavy winters
Thanks for telling us how to get there
I’ve wondered for years how to get there
I’m just concerned if i go there if someone will call cops on me
And how to get down from there
When were the Jerome-Anderson Av Station tunnels sealed?
i believe around the late 60s
@@ilyleooooNo, people in the 80s and 90s were still able to enter the tunnel
@@mtanyctrainatlantamartatra7164the early 2000s the tunnel was closed off
You gotta wear the old school hats for the old school stuff show that vintage pride!
That’s my homies Kais spot. Haven’t been there in couple of years. We did the yoda pieces
It was a continuation to the polo grounds from the 4 line
💪
I gotta do the jerome anderson station
I remember mad homeless people living in those abandoned stations.
Guy on the bike? You mean Chris Rock 10:49
I like you
Adam
Allerton Ave

The train runs through 162nd street not through the park and under 161 , you can see it if you woulda walked over 162nd
They fully sealed off the tunnels now
The guy ice t is chasing is chris rock 😂
😂you said “chasing this guy down the stairs”
How you don’t know Chris rock 🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣
Bro. Too much camera movement. Got dizzy like a MF
😂
It’s a shame to cover up history.Maybe next time you could show the remaining section of tracks , still there under the 4 line
Mta has issued a warrant for this man’s arrests
They shut it down because the polo grounds was torn down due to the giants going to California they found the shuttle to be useless
