Today we start talking a little bit more about the back of the circle. In last week's video, we discussed staying low in the back and touched a little on pushing off the heel when gliding. Today we talk more about the heel, how the heel should be the last thing touching the circle when you glide, and how to get the most velocity and power out of the back of the shot put circle when doing the glide.

Thanx Matt! Very timely series for my gliding daughter.....however, I do have one question though.....was curious what you think about this...I have seen vids of gliders who start on their right toes/front foot with their heel up....and then they glide back....I'll have to watch them more as they probably are ending up on their heel when they explode back, wondered if you think its good to start with your right heel raised and your weight on the front of the foot or toes?

Prashanth Akula That’s why I put in the screenshots of top gliders doing just that. Nobody wants to see my old broken down body doing a glide in one of these videos!

How do you push off a fully extended right leg? Aren’t you pulling the right leg under?

Yes. After the leg is fully extended. Fully extend the leg, then the heel is the last part of the foot touching the circle, then once in zero support the right leg is pulled under.
