    I have that washing machine. My tips are 1 dont load it to full. Theres plasic gears in it that you can hear grind if its overloaded and 2 balace the load before turning it on. It throws itself off balance easily. Mines on its way out cuz of those plastic parts wearing out. 3 yes it has a computer with error codes. Sometimes it can get confused. Unplugging it for a minute clears the memory and itll work ok again.

    I can’t let go of hearing you don’t have hot water and am now more grateful for hot showers and having hot water to wash dishes.

    I remember in the 1960s and 1970s my father would walk to the back of Sears and ask about returns or damaged items and then make am offer . They had some wonderful furnishings and large appliances.

    When I was a kid, water from the washer went right into the yard. Now grey water has to go in the sewer here in Glen Cove NY. Meanwhile, we have a beach that's been closed for years because a pipe in the woods is discharging sewage into the sound. You'd think they'd figure out who's responsible by now. That's my tax dollars at work!

    • @post10Vlogs
      @post10Vlogs  2 года назад +6

      Grey water discharge is allowed by all new England states except NH but permit is available. I see no issue, leach field would just put it in the ground anyways but sewage is just discussing. Old systems still dump it in rivers and lakes

    The more features and tech in an appliance or car, the more opportunities for things to break or malfunction.
    We had to replace our furnace about 15 years ago. Thought we would go for high efficiency. Furnace guy convinced us it was better to go for a regular one... that the high efficiency ones only lasted 7 to 10 years. What's the point then? Any $$ savings or environmental benefit is more than outweighed if you have to replace the damn thing twice as often. How is it environmental to have to throw something out 10 years early?

    I believe it was in the 90s that some companies started the trend of forced obsolescence, which everyone has adopted.

    Frugality is the essence of a hard working man watching out for his hard earned money. Make it stretch and you may have better things later in life. I was once called a penny pincher but now I have more modern conveniences than most of my friends because of it.

    I bought a washer and dryer for $150 and used them for 9 years no problems. I bought a new house last year with all new fancy appliances. Stove quit working, dishwasher works like crap, dryer giving me problems, microwave burnt out 4 months in. I replace them with used, older stuff because I refuse to buy new and pay tax, depreciation just to have it fail fast. I only buy old cars that I fix myself and invest what I would piss away in payments because newer cars are also junk.

  • @kirkanos3968

    Just be careful if not using hot water can get a build up of detergent if you use a lot. I know you have a bunch of white vinegar have you ever tried adding a cup or two to your cloths? Will help cleaning the cloths and they come out the dryer much softer and better smelling then all the nasty chemical detergents and dryer sheets.

    I don't believe Maytag puts a module inside that's ticking away. It would be all over the net and news, just like those printers that did that...and they got national attention and were sued. Now I do believe they could put crap capacitors inside that pretty much have the same outcome.

    I do think everyone is forgetting that you can buy a washing machine for about £150 at the cheapest, 1990s your looking at nearly 5 times that if not more. I understand there not as well built but there much more accessible
    In regards to your dryer, I have recently upgraded mine and my electric bill is much much less.
