- Artist Judy Chicago discusses her experiences entering into the art world as a woman and some of the opposition she faced in this oral history interview from April 13, 2011. She also examines her preferred art techniques and her transition into her more famous feminist works and collaborative projects. This interview was conducted by Rani Singh and Jenni Sorkin in Santa Monica, California.
The Getty Research Institute (GRI) hosted events and conducted oral histories inspired by the "Modern Art in Los Angeles" theme beginning in 2003. Much of the GRI's Modern Art in Los Angeles activities were incorporated into the Getty's larger initiative, "Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A.," which focused on postwar art (1945-1980) in Los Angeles.
