@@marcjerometulali6751 that's awesome though, hang in there a few months, and you can put that on your resume and the job interviews will start coming a lot easier
Don’t feel uncomfortable sharing. Your sharing over the last few years helped me continue my path and focus no matter how difficult and finally get my first development job as a full stack developer. Thanks for staying positive!
I’ve been developing professionally for 1 week now, making 28 an hour, plus bonuses. I’m 21 and still a student (part-time now). Before that, I was making 16.00 an hour. The tech field is truly a blessing. My goal is to be making 6 figures in 2 years.
Hey I have a question, when did you started coding or after how many months you applied to your job. I am 17 years old started learning few months ago and I do not really know what point I am right now. thanks
@DirtyFan2 don't ever give up man.. I agree.. this is not for everyone, but for those that have the courage to pursue their dreams. Keep learning and keep your head up. Don't take the easy road :D If you really want to succed, put some more effort in your learning process. Start from 30mins per day and get to even more. The key is to fight no matter what! By the way, any updates?
@VanillaSky getting rejected twice or failing twice is all part of the process, next year I will be in my last year in medical school and I also have little ideas about web development, everything in life demands sacrifice, for learning it’s time and persistence no matter how much you fail..
William Kidd Jr. I just switched from a music degree to a web development degree at a different school, but they are fading the program out due to lack of interest. Not a lot of people are interested in those kinds of jobs in many southern areas.
Amazing man, congratulations! In the Czech Republic where I live, the average salary is around $12k a year, note that our healthcare, education system and most social things are free (paid by income taxes). I started as a web developer with $10/hour and managed to bump it up to 20EUR an hour within the same summer. If I continue on the path that I'm on (to become a blockchain developer), I could earn about $100/hr as a freelancer while also being a student (I'm a starting 19 yo CS student at Charles university in Prague). Software is truly amazing and there are no limits to what you can learn and create.
I just finished Brad Traversy Html and Css course on Udemy now onto Javascript. I am putting in the work and believe next year i will start applying for internship opportunities.

Hey Chris, thanks for making great inspirational videos. I’m four months into my own learning to code journey and have a strong motivation. Your videos help me to keep going as well.
He is absolutely right about the cost of living in California. Here in Silicon Valley, 100K per year does not go a long way. The average rent is between 3K and 4K per month. And if you have a car note, student loans, cell phone bill, utilities, car insurance, a pet(and the costs associated with a pet), food, all the costs associated with a car, cable, the cost of entertainment(and not necessarily anything over the top), trying to save a little for a rainy day and lest I not forget taxes, 100K per year is not very much at all. You may be able to mitigate those costs if you have a spouse that makes the same as you but if not, you could be in trouble in Cali even with that 100K per salary if you are not disciplined and intentional about how you deal with your finances.
Chris you are an inspiration to people new to coding, which includes myself. Been watching for videos for awhile now, few years. +1, great video brother! I myself started off at my first job as a Jr. Systems Admin (part time) during school at $10/hr, then increased to $25/hr after I graduated. (2015-2017), then jumped to $34/hr when I changed positions a year and a half later. Grateful and blessed! Soli Deo Gloria, brother!
Just started computer science, but over covid and summer I learned js, python, css, html, and bash and trust me the classroom is easy mode compared to what you've done!
Your video definitely motivates me even more on web development, because I was struggling with the next step I can say for sure that this has helped with the decision.
Great story dude! I didn't realize web developer jobs pay that high. Really inspiring and encouraging. As you probably remember, I just landed my first front end developer job, and I came from a pretty mediocre phone support job. I'm a very artistic and visual person, and always love watching website layouts come together.

4-yr degree in Mechanical Engineering with minor in CS. My wife works as a Front End Software Engineer. Here are my years at my jobs, specific industry, job titles, and salaries. 6mo - Defense Contractor - Engineer I (Junior Dev) - $55,000 1yr - Defense Contractor - Engineer II (Mid-Level Dev) - $75,000 2yr - Defense Contractor - Engineer II (Mid-Level Dev) - $95,000 (Remote work) 1yr - Financial Start-up - Engineer III (Lead Front-End Dev Team) - $140,000 (Remote work) (Current) 1mo - Medical Start-up - Engineer IV (Lead 2 teams of Devs) - $180,000 (Remote work) My advice for any software engineering/developer career. 1. Get out of your comfort zone in the job. 2. Continue learning new skills outside of work hours. I spend 15-30 min a day on this. 3. Don't get stuck only using one or two programming languages. More languages equals a more diverse skillset 4. Switch to remote work because you can easily switch jobs without additonal expenses in life life moving or more expensive areas of the country. 5. Only take job opportunities that increase your salary by a minimum of 20% 6. Take as many interviews as possible. The more practice you get, the more comfortable you wil become in them. 7. Do not work for any early Start-ups until you have 3-6 months worth of expenses in a savings account. 8. Always take your new job offer in writing to your current employer to see if they will match or beat the new offer. 9. Move companies often. No one really cares if you work for companies less than a year when you tell them the reason you moved was for a 20% pay increase that your company couldn't match. 10. Never burn bridges with previous employers or co-workers. 11. Always keep your LinkedIn up to date. Recruiting companies have a special account they get from LinkedIn to pull mass data lists to find people. 12. Always keep benefit packages (401k, health insurance, etc.) in mind because they vary vastly from company to company. 13. When you get a job offer in writing, always have the companies HR work out a mock up check so you know exactly how much you will get after taxes and benefits. 14. Always get your sign-on bonus prorated over a year. Never have sign on bonus that ties you to the company for more than a year. 12. (Secret) If you can't negotiate a higher salary and/or larger sign-on bonus, companies will sometime negotiate a higher 401k contribution and/or pay more of your health insurance premiums.
Thanks for sharing this! I know it's probably a bit uncomfortable to share your salary via RUclips, but I really appreciate it. Money isn't everything, but it *is* important. It definitely helps to keep me focused!

What I really like about your channel...and this is only the second vid i've watched is how real you keep it. Great info and very inspiring. Helping us noobs get going haha.
I live in Sri Lanka, but it's very different here. We don't have "junior developer positions" but we have internships. And those internships require you to know almost everything. Still pays you only Around 80 USD per month. And when you become a mid level developer you only get around 800 USD per month. And as a senior dev you get around 1500 USD per month. This is the usual scale in Sri Lanka. You'd think then the living expenses might be cheaper. But that's not the case. Living expenses are also really high if you live in Colombo. (almost all the tech companies are in Colombo) You got a junior dev job just knowing html css JavaScript and j query. And here I'm still struggling to find a job as a dev, when I know the whole MERN stack pretty good. It's very sad and disappointing. But I'm happy to hear the status of the tech industry in other countries :)

I can tell you're uncomfortable because the editing is all over the place in this video, but sincerely thank you from those of us working to get into this industry. You're doing what I aim to do, make enough to support myself and my family while doing something that I enjoy and there are times where encouragement and virtual support such as what you do mean everything in the world. Thank you.
Brother I appreciate the inspiration and your story you share. I'm currently working in IT in a Help desk setting at just under $17hr. It sucks especially having a family. I'm always broke. Have been tossing the idea of web dev for awhile now seeing as I have a love/hate relationship with IT and have been pursuing day trading for awhile now with little success due to limited financial resources. I can see this changing my income and funding my trading accounts while providing a stable living for my Fam. If you're reading this can you suggest any good free resource for getting started. I start the MSSA program next month (Microsoft Software and Systems Academy - kinda like MSFT's boot camp for military folks) and am hoping for another pay jump when I complete the program and switch to software development. Grateful and blessed! Soli Deo Gloria, brother!
Ill get there one day. Keep up the motivation for us Chris 👍
About to start computer science. So excited that already learnt a bit of c++, js, python, css and html 😩😩
good luck !
Hope it works out!
Yea knowing program syntax helps a ton
Just started computer science, but over covid and summer I learned js, python, css, html, and bash and trust me the classroom is easy mode compared to what you've done!
Massage Asa good luck!
Very inspiring. Very motivating. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. Time to add some extra grind to the day!
Your video definitely motivates me even more on web development, because I was struggling with the next step I can say for sure that this has helped with the decision.
agreed !
I am fortunate enough to earn more than >100k in my first year. The tech industry is one of the few that this could have ever happened in.
Nice man
@@RealChrisSean hopefully one day ill do it all for myself like you do
As a software or web developer
@@007clench software
This motivates me as a high school student. Thanks bro.
Thank you for sharing! That really inspires me.
You got this!
Great story dude! I didn't realize web developer jobs pay that high. Really inspiring and encouraging. As you probably remember, I just landed my first front end developer job, and I came from a pretty mediocre phone support job. I'm a very artistic and visual person, and always love watching website layouts come together.
Hard work pays off, awesome man. Keep it up
you became a dev in three months!?! wow props!
Ty
Im working in Retail Eyeswear l industry right now and definitely not happy with it. I currently learn HTML and CSS and hope to land my first job a year from now. Thank you for the tips and great motivation. I believe with some hard work and dedication. Tech industry could really change my life
Hard work pays off! No need to be uncomfortable sharing. Congrats!
4-yr degree in Mechanical Engineering with minor in CS. My wife works as a Front End Software Engineer. Here are my years at my jobs, specific industry, job titles, and salaries.
6mo - Defense Contractor - Engineer I (Junior Dev) - $55,000
1yr - Defense Contractor - Engineer II (Mid-Level Dev) - $75,000
2yr - Defense Contractor - Engineer II (Mid-Level Dev) - $95,000 (Remote work)
1yr - Financial Start-up - Engineer III (Lead Front-End Dev Team) - $140,000 (Remote work)
(Current) 1mo - Medical Start-up - Engineer IV (Lead 2 teams of Devs) - $180,000 (Remote work)
My advice for any software engineering/developer career.
1. Get out of your comfort zone in the job.
2. Continue learning new skills outside of work hours. I spend 15-30 min a day on this.
3. Don't get stuck only using one or two programming languages. More languages equals a more diverse skillset
4. Switch to remote work because you can easily switch jobs without additonal expenses in life life moving or more expensive areas of the country.
5. Only take job opportunities that increase your salary by a minimum of 20%
Really like your vibes man. I just started learning development at galvanized and I can’t wait for the opportunities that lie ahead.
All the best Chris, really inspirational 👍🏾
Thanks for sharing this! I know it's probably a bit uncomfortable to share your salary via RUclips, but I really appreciate it. Money isn't everything, but it *is* important. It definitely helps to keep me focused!
Dang, this is really encouraging. I want to dive into web development, but currently I'm working in the medical industry making $59k/yr working 10-12hr shifts, with OT and holidays.. I got interested in studying web development because I want a job where I can learn endless things and at the same time use my creativity.
(almost all the tech companies are in Colombo)
You got a junior dev job just knowing html css JavaScript and j query. And here I'm still struggling to find a job as a dev, when I know the whole MERN stack pretty good.
It's very sad and disappointing. But I'm happy to hear the status of the tech industry in other countries :)
Even I’m from Sri Lanka bro ! I feel you❤️

Great transparency Chris. Loved the video!
This is awesome to hear I pray you continue to have success.
Can you make a video on how you became a web developer ?
Learning ? Certificates ?
Wow that is amazing. Keep up the good work and the amazing content. I starting into IT and there is so much to learn. Right now working on A+. Eventually want to get CCNA. I have also signed up to some coding classes because you have inspired me. Loving it so much. Thanks man!!!
You can do it!
Like always I love your videos because you are very honest and humble. Keep it real Sean, don't change.
I appreciate that
Transparency and being real with your audience brings success (more viewers) to any RUclips channel
thanks Chris , i really appreciate you and your story , watching your videos give me a lot of motivation
💪💪💪
Beautiful story bro. WIshing you even greater success!
Last time I watched this video I wasn't a developer. Now in 1 month time I will have 1 year experience. :)
Congrats man. This video was inspirational. Keep the grind going!
His videos are great! A.true inspiration
You’ve made wonderful progress over the last several years!
Thanks!
Thanks for the run-down. I like to hear about all of the experiences. It's beneficial. Gooday'.
thanks for being open to speak about all these good numbers ^^

Inspirational and lots of respect. Thanks for sharing.
125K a year... that's like about 10++ a month? convert to my currency that will be like 14k.... what...
Another great one brother! Thanks for continuing to inspire!
Ty!
Thank you.
Yeh as any Devs jobs you sell your hundred hrs/years of learning curve.
Time == money 💰
I hear good things about w3schools, but what else is good?
Love your videos man, honestly I'm scared. I graduate this coming spring with a degree in comp sci, b.s. Not the best coder, and senioritis is taking it's toll on me. But you inspire me to be the best person I can be, I love making videos too, and love learning new things, would love to see a video about taking risks, and maybe why it's okay to be scared for what's to come. :)
Hi Chris, I just started my RUclips channel on Web Development not too long ago. Wanted to see if we can collab somehow. 💪💪💪
This is the second video I’ve watched of yours and I already want to learn code. Lemme hit that SUBSCRIBE button real quick.
Keep up the good work man. You’ve inspired me to code and push on through. 😁🤓
Ty!
Thats awesome! Keep doing what you are doing dude! ^_^
Great video, thanks for the Motivation !
Software dev role 1: $17.50/hr 40 hr week... $36,400 yr..
I'm 20, just got my first job at a startup in India.
I work in html css vanilla js for frontend and sometimes php for backend
And I also work on wordpress websites.
I'm getting $250 (₹18000) per month after working for around 45 hours a week
Am I being underpaid?
A great motivation for me sir thanks a lot . I was kinda feeling like will I be able to earn to support my family but now know I can 😊
can you give the timeline or year of those salary? because of inflation the salary could be somewhat different now on all the job you described.
Thanks sir for sharing your journey
New subscriber here. How old were you when you shifted to programming. I turned 31 yesterday and planning to change company becausr there is no growth anymore. Im a dev since i was 22 and its not that fun anymore.
It's even scare, the numbers you guys have written. 😨
I hope can be there one day.
Hey Chris congrats man. But s quick question is your former place of work ( the one transitioning to sveltejs ) employing ? Because I would love to apply.
Congrats on turning your life around and now supporting your family as well 🙂👍
Thanks so much
Bruh, I used to get paid $250 per month as a full-stack developer. Up to this point, that shit pisses me off
Love the come up 😍❤️
Thanks!
Hey Chris! I'm a Noob in Web Dev Community. With the introduction of CMS(wordpress, wix etc), is Custom Coding Dying? I'm starting to fear that my dream to be a Web Dev would be ruined forever.
Hey well done!
I live in UK and im working in the hospitality. I wanna do something different, from the beginning to learn the programming like java, what do you think, how long its take to learn the language until i can find a “junior” job? I really wanna do something new something different :)
Thanks for sharing chris
You're an inspiration bro
Can I get a job in gulf county with knowledge n skill in web developer fied as a fresher without education
Thank you for sharing!
i just started learning code yesterday and its really interesting! I'm actually majoring in psychology but I wanted to try coding as a side hobby to help out some friends and family.. do you think being a part-time developer is viable? (bc i really do want to be a psychologist but also a web/game developer at the same time lol)
Yes it’s possible but if u can join school 42 its freee
What paid service would u reccomend for a kid to learn code
Why does it need to be paid? How old are they? freecodecamp.org is a tried-and-true program, but I wouldn't say it's geared towards kids.
I really get inspire by your stuff. And the main reason might be that they are so real. I am almost sure in few years you will be a multi millionaire(hope you dont add "as a millionaire" tag like techlead though).
I would love to work in your company in future. Right now am still a student. Let me know if i can work with you in future?
