That was such a helpful account of your fibroid removal surgery. I just had a myomectomy and found a lot of parallels with your experience. Glad you had a positive outcome in the long run. Giving thanks here too! Take care.

Thank you so much for your video. I had my myomectomy last week on Oct 6th and I could identify with your experience. I had tried an embolization in Feb 6th and that experience was 10x worse than the myomectomy.

I had two surgery for one 6 centimeter fibroid. I was in terrible pain. I feel so much better. no pain after my myomectomy. I am blessed. I was treated very well. I was given hot tea and juice and very caring people.

I just had my surgery a week on Monday and I must say I'm sorry your experience was bad. My experience was amazing! The surgical staff was so hospitable and answered every question I had. I had a private room and was constantly being checked on. I was really happy with my whole process. I made it awake to the OR and remember asking the anesthesiologist assistant who gave me a sedative, "did you just give me something?" AA: "yes"
Me: "this stuff is awesome" lol! I was made to walk the second day and was very dizzy but the pain wasn't so bad. The catheter removal was not pleasant but it wasn't as bad. and I had a bit of a delay in my being able to urinate. it's been a week since, and I still have a little issue. with the actual flow to start. I can't wait to fully heal. Glad the outcome of your surgery was successful.

This video was so helpful. Ijust started my process in seeing a specialist for my hysterectomy. I'm on my 3rd doctor's visit, this for tomorrow 9-06-2016 is to receive an iron infusion. My scheduled surgery will be appointed the same office visit. I plan on asking lots of questions and taking in as much info as possible. Thanks so much for sharing!

Once I start/finish having kids, I definitely plan to get a hysterectomy as well. Please share your experience with how that goes over for you. Would love to know.

Omg so glad my experience was nothing like yours! I had very little pain after surgery. Agree with the laziness of hospital staff, maybe understaff and overworked.

Thank you for this. I plan on getting this done soon because my fibroid has been extremely painful. This sounds scary, but I think it'll be worth it to not have to deal with my fibroid anymore. It's been really interfering with my life.

There are a few tips for relieving fibroids at home
Avoid exposure to pestides in food and other and pollutants
Make sure you consume enough fruit and vegetables.
      Take vitamin C
Use herbs which cleanse the liver including milk thistle
(I read these and why they work from Kadyn Home Remedy site )

The scraping of the mouth probably happened during tracheal intubation. I was told that it was a possibility during my myomectomy, but thank god it didn't. We had very similar experiences. However, I think my experience was a little more pleasant.

Me too yes...I remembered nothing....I woke up in my private room. I didn't even recall the "recovery room" I don't even think I went there....lol I had really good drugs though.
They moved me from one bed to the next (in my private room).
I woke up with a catheter.
I had a great team of doctors and nurses.

I'm so sorry to hear about your post op experience. I did not trust any of the surgeons in my area so I went out of state for the open myomectomy. I remember my throat being so dry due to the tube they put down my throat. I was downing water like there was no tomorrow. Luckily they inserted the catheter while in surgery. Like you I had no appetite, but I ate lightly like chicken broth and jello. Moving around was hard at first, but got through it. Things got a little better day by day.

I reside in Connecticut, but traveled to Maine for the surgery. The gynecologist/surgeon's name is Anne Rainville. I liked her because unlike the other doctors I have seen, she is interested in saving women's uterus, if it's possible.
Please keep in mind that because several fibroids were left inside because of where they're positioned, but I no longer have heavy periods and palm sized clots.

Let me tell you, I had a myomectomy, and when I got to my room, 2 persons moved me from the gurnee to the bed. That was pain beyond pain. I still remember the guttural sounds that I made. I also remember the look on my mom's face as she saw me in pain. Not good. Also, why, why, why must they have us wake in recovery to all that pain? I felt like I was being gutted alive! Seriously. That pain was just plain bad. I can't talk about it to this day without contorting my body as I remember. That was 2010. Now in the next few weeks I go for the UFE, as fibroids are back. Oh well.

Very helpful thanks a lot. I have to go through all you have but what is making me worried is that fibroids can easily grow again once you had myomectomy especially to those women who have multi fibroids which I have. I am so scared and doubtful .

    • @lyfeunexpected
      @lyfeunexpected  7 лет назад +1

I agree. You are so right. I still continue to deal with these fibroids girl. l don't regret having the surgery though because the fibroids eventually grow bigger and become more painful. Over time they start to bring about other issues, so I have to get rid of them. It definitely sucks.

I am sorry for the bad experience. But I would like to comment on the pain medicine, if the pain medicine is ordered as needed, it is your responsibility to ask for it when it is due. How ever, the nurse can still come in and ask you if you need the pain medicine.
