Adam Gontier is one of the few singers you can genuinely feel his hurt and pain expressed through his music. Three Days Grace - just like Linkin Park - as such deep emotions resonating through it.
I feel like people tend to look over slipknot when they talk about bands that put emotion into everything.
If you actually look into their story you can really tell what some songs are about.

Im going to be 100% honest.
In my lifetime, Ive seen over 100 different bands perform live, and Three Days Grace is easily in the top 5 of best live performances Ive ever seen.
The key is getting the entire crowd involved into the performance...which they did better than anyone Ive ever seen. And the best part, the encore lasted almost another hour after they were supposed to stop playing. They just kept going because the crowd kept wanting more......and they absolutely delivered.
Dude yes! They opened up for A7X and Bullet for my valentine literally my two favorite bands at the time and they fuckin killed it that night!

Neil killing it on the drums, Barry rocking with the amazing riffs, and Adam delivering emotion thru his voice. It's all beautiful, and what i love about Adam is his lyrics are relatable. I remember the first time i saw this music video was on the first gen PSP demo disc that came with it. I'm in my mid twenties and listening to it now hits me in the feels because I understand it better. Sometimes you might feel like your own being is not a home and just feels like a broken house of a lost soul.

There was a time when every TDG song sounded to me like my life. Now, I still hear the songs, but my life has changed a lot. Thing in home and with family are going good, I have some friends now, a nice work, I'm not harrased by bad thoughts anymore.

My gf told me this year these songs were never about a romance they were about their abusive parents and goodlord the context makes everything hit so much harder i always wondered why or how he could manage such hatred and malice into his voice over a bad relationship. But hands down my favorite thing about this band and why its my favorite is the character growth. You can hear in each album the lyrics healing. Getting more hopeful dare i say happy. Ending with transit of venus’s unbreakable was just art. ART. We have witnessed in song form the internal struggle of an angry young man leaving behind his trauma and ascending past them into an adult. Its beauty. Pure beauty.

seems like every band goes downhill after a while. or at least they change ALOT in their sound. want examples? Three Days Grace (Transit of venus. complete radio stuff. you can hear some signs of it in Life starts now already but the full stuff was ToV) Shinedown: After the 2. album (us and them) they went into more pop-radio direction, although I like some from sound of madness, Amaryllis is completely soft rock or kinda pop-rock. The only thing I'm happy for is that Breaking Benjamin is back again, with the original singer. I have faith in them, in Ben actually. BB is one out of the rare bands that stayed true to it's "sound". Foo Fighters is another good band. Not coincidence they are still the most favorable rock band nowadays.They must be doing something well...
Transit of Venus was really not one of Three Days Grace's best albums. I like the 2 new singles: "Painkiller" and "I Am Machine" though. Apparently, they are trying to go back to their roots and sound like they did back on their first record. I'm willing to give their 5th record a chance and see what it'll sound like. It just won't be the same without Adam. Matt is really trying, but he'll just never be like Adam. :-(

20 years later, this is still my favorite Three Days Grace song. I related to this song so much growing up and it said all the things I couldn't say or didn't know how to say. This song put every feeling I had as a teen. It was my escape when I was too scared to speak up. This entire album got through the toughest time of my life. This song screamed for me when I felt like my throat was being tightened. This song and this entire album will always, always have a special place in my heart. I owe Three Days Grace so much. There's nothing worse or more heartbreaking than to feel you don't belong somewhere where you always thought that you did. Displacement is a traumatic state of mind to be in . Douglas Reynolds To listen to your parents blindly is a fools errand. My father did not care that I almost died. Only that I was being rude to the cops. He left me for another family. I had to buy grocies for him when I was 14 in Tacoma. He made me choose whether or not he spent time with me or his new family. I chose what made him happier. He abused me mentally. He bribed my respect with money and presents. And yet, I do not find myself being so harsh in commited relationships. Life is blind if you follow it with given, not earned, respect. My mother kicked me out plenty of times when I was around 12-13. Than she'd say I ran away to protect herself. Plus she wouldnt let me back inside. You tell me if respecting parents is such a noble thing and I would sooner spit in your face than agree.
The sad truth is that some parents don't care. I would know I have friends who went down the wrong road and lived a very depressing part of their lives and wished they could just rip right out. For example one of my friends had to join a mafia (I am not saying who because what ever I post on the internet is up for Cops to see at will) to support his family. His innitiation test were two stabs. His parents didn't care what happened to him as long as there was food on the table. I have a mother who has mood swings and thinks i'm going to be a failure. Honestly I try to look on the bright side of things because I know that without the winter of life the spring would not look, so bright, but hey if you want me to be dark why not. My parents sent me to a daycare at Jane and Finch when I was four-five. If you don't know where that is back then it was worse than now. It is a geto where alot of shootings occur and violence and my parents could have easily afforded better, but they sent me there. I ended up having a friend who lost his parents because of a dumbass drunk driver who took them away from him when he was six. He was not adopted until last year. I think that since my parents are the reason i'm in this world it would only be fair that even if they treat me like shit. That out of all possibilities if someone attempts to kill them I protect them till my last breath. I know people have problems with some of their own parents and I understand. But in my standpoint I would rather gain a secondary personality, and have needles inserted into my body. By parents I mean who do you think of in your life as your father figure and mother figure. I would die for them as painful and gruesome a death as possible. To protect my friends that is what I am willing to do.

I'll never forget how I discovered Three Days Grace. The year was 2004, I was 9 years old and I was one of the first kids to get the PSP when it came out. It came with a sampler music UMD that had 9 music videos on it. This video was one of them and I've been a huge fan ever since, I listened to them throughout the rest of my years in school up until graduation. And I was so stoked to find out that Adam is still making music but in Saint Asonia now. It was very nice to meet them last sunday.
