Excellent video for someone like me that has both types of guitars but doesn’t have a clue how to adjust them. It would be so nice to have either a close up of your Helix or a screen shot of HX Edit on screen while you make changes.
One helpful thing with my patches is that I actually include both an 'S' and 'H' version of the patch so that most of the work is done for you and you might only need to do small tweaks for your specific guitar. Because every guitar is different showing actual settings won't really help its more about giving the settings you should try if you need to say clear up the low mids to make it sound clearer (which I talked about with the little cut around 250-400hz on the parametric eq), etc. If you're struggling with your own patches I'd say make a copy of the preset and label one with an S and one with an H. Then grab your darker guitar and use this video as guidance on what settings to approach for whatever sonic goal you're looking for. Once you're happy save it and go to the S version and do the same thing. Hope that helps!
Awesome video! I watched the whole video 😊 Very helpful to support this patch. Thank you very much! I used this patch live (2.71 version) last Sunday in the song "Here Again" by Elevation and it is on point. Got a lot of compliments about the tone. Btw, what is the value of the Amp Drive that you added for bigger chorus/leads? (But I heard you mentioned 6.5 amp drive). I'm planning to use the 2.81 version of this patch. Another question, what is your recommendation which drives need to be turned on for "Glorious Day"(Passion)? God bless you brother! 😊
Love when I hear people are rocking it at church (great song btw)! I'll have to check when I get home but I think 6.5 is about the highest I went. For Glorious Day, what guitar are you playing through? It's been a while since I've played that one but if I was creating a snapshot for the lead line I would start with the dot8th delays on and I'd probably go modverb on, but I'd move the split higher to like idk A55 so that the reverb is there in the background but not getting in the way (Adjusting that parameter to that setting will only affect that snapshot, any other snapshot the reverb will behave normally. It's a handy trick to make adjustments for specific snapshots!). If I'm not loving that I'd switch on the dirty verb instead. For overdrives I'd probably start with the tube screamer and see where that puts me. Depending on the output of your guitar you may want more gain so I'd try stacking it with the existing drives. Could always do what I did in this video and just increase the amp gain to pair with the TS too! No right or wrong answer :)
Not certain how video has been produced but feel like I’m listening to presets in good set of headphones. I’ve had similar experiences at home. However, live is a different animal. Feel like there is lost fidelity even though we use digital board with extensive EQ possibilities.
Yeatzee Guitar Sorry, basically saying the tones in good FRFR studio monitors or good headphones sound better than I seem to be able to achieve live even though we use digital board with extra EQing ability. Realize it’s subjective thing reliant on different factors. Just my humble opinion but find live gigs the hardest but to crack. Thx for sharing.🎸👍
Good video and info. Only issue for me was volume. I had to turn up pretty loud for your voice and then the play through was pretty loud. Listened on my tablet with headphones. Subcribed.
I had a heck of a time leveling everything, because the lapel was on my left shoulder every time I looked at the Helix my voice got way quieter. Live and learn, It'll be much better next time 🙂 also I'm uploading this video as 2 parts today and I worked extra on part 2 making the vocals louder and the song playback quieter. Hope it's better for ya!
I used every position on the guitar at least twice for this song :) [intro/instrumental/bridge = neck position, verse 2/bridge = middle position, chorus/bridge/outro = bridge position]
Yeatzee Guitar oh I know I think that’s where I have issues with my stomp. I can’t freely switch without something being too bassy or trebly but I think this helped! I should have clarified!
@@Jord1791 that's a unique guitar! I was going to say if it's got 2 tone knobs I always recommend setting it so that you're okay with the neck pickup tone then roll back the bridge volume to even them out. For that have you tried playing with the pickup height / poll piece height? That can help a lot
Do you plug your headphones straight in to the helix’s headphone out to set up for live use? Or do you go through your DAW and headphone out from there?
@@tobybergeron2653 The Helix itself is an interface! So basically you just plug USB into the helix from your computer and make sure your computer's audio is routed through the Helix speakers. Awesome! I had heard that the headphone jack was not a good way to dial in tones because the gain staging was different. Glad to know that it’s actually this simple. Keep up the great work! It’s great to see a fresh approach to getting the most out of the helix for worship

Which patch (H or S) and what sorts of changes would you use for a Gretsch with Filtertrons. It's a humbucker but fairly low output
I'd say try both and see which you prefer

Hi, not sure I totally understand. Are you saying you feel like you lose fidelity when using a digital amp live?

Yep straight into the Helix headphone jack. Using a DAW can introduce some latency.
