Front-load LG washers are extremely dependable because they have direct drive motors. We are aware of no frequent failures in LG front-loaders. Spinning a top-load washer at high speed is challenging for manufacturers. Although most LG top-loaders are dependable, the nature of the product leads to slightly more frequent failures than LG front-load washers. Overall, our opinion is that LG washers are dependable. Repairmen in your area may run more service calls on LG washers, but nationally, the LG brand is solid.

why the drain hose should not be extend more than 8 inch into the drain pipe

When you push the drain hose way down the drain standpipe, water can fill the standpipe during draining and as the washer fills for the next portion of the wash cycle, water can siphon out through the drain hose -- preventing the washer from filling properly.
