Last year's challenge was so special not just because of decluttering. A group of women who met thru your challenge, kept going with our own Front Porch Swing. Grab your beverage of choice and find supportive friends on The Front Porch Swing. The group was the brainchild of Deb. Deb made us laugh, cry and feel good. Sadly, we lost her to cancer mid-year. It was not long after diagnosis to her passing, but she made sure to leave us with strong admins. The group is a private, safe place for us to share all things. Her only rules were always be kind to one another. Looking forward to decluttering 2024!

I found a timer that looks like a stove tea pot. Something fun. I am a retired nurse and always had to know exactly what time it is. So l became a clock watcher
I have decided when I sew I leave my phone out of the sewing room and NO CLOCK. I set my timer when it goes off and I get up and move around. These have really helped me to slow down and relax.

This will be my third declutter. I'm one who modifies! Since I do not have a sewing room, year one I decluttered my yarn-based UFOs; Year two was fabric-based UFOs. These two years were SO satisfying...and productive. Thanks for all your inspiration.

Thanks for being my declutter buddy, Karen. I did and loved the challenge last year and am really proud about how I have kept things up since then. I am all registered to go again and have been suggesting it to others on other channels. I won't be able to be as faithful to the timeline this year because our four young grandkids and our daughter will be here until January 19th but i will look forward to each day's video and will catch up as time permits. Thanks for doing this again; much appreciated! 🙂

I won’t be following in real time, but I threw (almost all of) my sewing supplies at random into a truckload of things I moved overseas in the autumn, but haven’t received at the far end yet. After years working around family life and how that changed over Covid, and not having a dedicated space to sew, I will have a room that will be a personal office and craft space to organise and get stuck back in to sewing again. And living alone, I will have time to sew in the evenings/weekends (so I don’t spend all my time working!). I hope to finally use a good portion of my stash on actual projects. So I will be following along to try and sort what came with me and clear out what is not useful (I really had to pack in a hurry so just threw everything in!), and get the space set up for success.

I decided to give this declutter challenge a head start today while I waiting for the dryer to buzz. It was drying a piece of backing that I wanted to get on the machine to help me finish another challenge.........3 more quilts before the ball drops on 2024! I pulled out a messy drawer can cleaned while I waited for that buzzer. Donations, recycle papers are gone. What few things are left are neatly categorized in what used to be called the junk draw! Yeah! Every little bit helps!

I registered and will watch the playlist later. I would love my room to be neat and clean but at 8'x10' it's not very big. I have my sewing machine in the bedroom because, with the cutting table and the bookcase, nothing else fits. One wall is the design wall and one is the sliding doors for the built-in closet so that cuts down on space too.

I'm with you on this . If my left over pieces are small I just cut into log cabin strips stored in separate boxes or 2 1/2" squares or failing that into smallish boxes labelled by colour. Each year after finishing my donation quilts by October the rest of the year is devoted to strip pieced quilts to use up lots of leftovers I've gathered during the year . I add into that mix fabrics I no longer like which benefit from being cut up into strips. This all gets rid of a lot of "stuff" Then by sometime in Jan I might decided to start making more donation quilts for our 2024 collection date. I do tend to be quite organised so this plan works for me. I am lucky in having my loft room as a permanent sewing room so if it gets messy I don't see it when I walk downstairs.

I forgot about your challenge. I had already done one prior to catching yours last year but I still enjoyed watching. I have been preparing to do this with each room in our house at some point. Most rooms will just need cleaning and organizing, but my sewing room became our dump room this past year because we had so much unexpected stuff come up that I rarely had time to be in my sewing room unless I was making a gift, quilting for someone or doing some mending, and then that was always squeezed in somewhere. I spent several unplanned days helping clear out my brother's apartment and all I kept thinking about was how desperately I wanted to be organizing my sewing room again! I have been working on a couple of things already because I will need to get a certain amount of work done before I go back to work and I start getting quilts in again

Well I went in there to "move" a little. I moved my 2 containers of thread on top of some material to move other stuff, lol. But not really lol because the thread containers then decided to move all over the floor. BUT I did straighten a little & actually removed 11 pieces of fabric (some with yardage) to give to someone else.

This year is going to be rough. I made the mistake of tearing everything apart in my room instead of organizing as I went along. Then threw my back out and have had to be careful for a couple of months. I didn't realize how much fabric I had moved into a shed and attic. I recently donated 3 totes of leftover novelty fabri to the Linus project. It felt great. Most was stuff I had made quilts and clothes for our son when he was young, he's 32 now.

@@janinenankervis9477I process my scraps once a year and cut them into the sizes I use most. I got some clear plastic shoe boxes and labeled them by size. I made sure they are all the same brand. They stack nicely on my shelf, and the fabric stays clean and easily accessible. I stack the pieces by color inside the shoe boxes, so its easy to find what I want when working on a project.

We downsized so I haven’t decluttered in that 6 year time. I’ve sewn and done all my other crafts just moving from one box of stuff to another. Never really finding true homes for anything. I realized a month ago that I needed to start the sorting right then. When we moved I went from a 240sq ft area down to 90sq ft. But I decided to take everything with me. I mean after all, I might need it. I first took every box and plastic tub out of the room. Decided I needed a sewing table and a desk. I found a drop leaf square table for my sewing machine. No more kitchen table. The desk is a cut down door held up by 2 filing cabinets we had at our other house. Shelves, a bookcase, and an old CD tower for my fat quarters and I’m on my way I still have a few boxes to go through. I couldn’t believe what I didn’t need. And how much work is still needed to make my space functional

I will be following as addressing some of the stash is sorta, kinda in the plans later in the year. The thought was there before our Christmas breakfast kitchen huddle following a more austere Christmas which wasn't quite as austere as some have advocated for assorted austerity reasons over several years. In that huddle, we agreed that adults or not we missed stockings this year and went on to discuss ideas which would not create clutter and cr@p, keep costs well contained, be quick and easy, and utilize primarily stuff we already own. Oh, and to begin sometime before Black Friday and the second week of December. - I have visions of touching, feeling, moving, and using some of my "stuff" then sorting, organizing, and re-packing. I have a half box or so of assorted iron on interfacing and interfacing scraps I definitely want to put a dent in before all it can be used for is sewn-in. Also more of that 1970's, flat "stretch" lace than I will ever use in a life time at my current rate; seems like everyone had at least some and I kept getting it gifted to me a couple of years ago. While not traditional, my thoughts are drifting to the number of draw string bags it will take to use up a couple of cards of lace. Of course there are plenty of scraps to make the bodies of said bags.

This is my third challenge. I did well on the first one and was able to maintain it so I didn’t need to declutter much in year two. Well, I fell apart this year and really need to declutter again. 🤗

I’m so excited to do this challenge again! I am in pretty good shape still, but maybe this is the year I get rid of stuff that I couldn’t let go of before. I know it’s going to help me establish some routines and happy space for the new year!

Help! Where’s the “I’m in” tutorial video? I watched the skin care promotion, but then the video ended! Did I miss something? Or can someone tell me how to do it?

Question….some of my patterns were rather expensive. Would love to get a little out of them. Any suggestions? Thank you.

This year will be my second time to complete the challenge. My room is still organized, but I’m looking forward to looking through the items I kept to see if I actually used them throughout the year. If not, it’s probably time to let them go.
