A year and a half ago my grandfather passed away from cancer. At his funeral I cried, and I cried for him multiple times for weeks after. However, it has been a while since I've thought about him and during this movie all of my memories with him came flooding back and I was drawn to tears almost the entire time. I'm even crying while writing this. I understand this is long after this video was relevant and he probably won't see it, but Mr. Lowery, I just wanted to thank you for making something that was genuine. It felt really good to cry for him and just think about the times I had with him that I had honestly forgotten.

finally saw this movie. oh boy was it a good one.
he goes back in time -- waits for decades just to read this note. most romantic thing i have ever seen.
and the fact that maybe some parts of him wants to stay in this house because he somehow knows this connection he has with the house - just amazing. that the ghost was him from the beginning. oh my gosh. how can a guy in a sheet with black eyes, make you feel so many things? this movie made me feel something else. it just hit me in the gut!
this movie is absolutely amazing. and hello... that pie scene though,

When he's the ghost he's much larger than Casey Affleck's normal size. He seems larger than life. Which is the whole point. But it turns the ghost from just a man in a sheet to this ... presence looming over the room. Oof I just gave myself chills. The thought that he existed possibly for hundreds of years just watching people, to the point that he's grown as a ghost, and his younger ghost self seems immature. Incredible. And the pie scene, when I spotted tears rolling down her face... and he's standing there. Damn.

I know it been years, but he didn’t go back in time. He waited for it to all happen again.

    • @Bamgeutcutiepie

@@AlternateRealityMusic lol. He did go back in time itself. Literally back to the Indians etc. Waiting all those decades for it to be present day and they move In again. One long loop of time.

Dude, thank you, I just spent my evening doing that, and now I feel glad someone else did too. And hey, that's the message of the movie! We're both going to die, but still, we got to watch this gem, twice, and then tell each other from the other side of the planet. Take care, Phil.

I glad I stuck it out watching the earlier slow scenes. The latter half and the context it gave the beginning made my most profound movie watching experience I had.

Amazing director! For him to make this film in the way he did and to do it so well should not be taken lightly. This conception could've gone so wrong if not helmed by a great director like David great insight

Definitely see the French new wave influence where there’s lots of lingering shots or following the ordinary routine of a person that many conventional directors would cut short

This movie feels like: watch a pretty regular dude find out what it's like to be a ghost, after living life, and seeing this ghost shape at halloween, maybe even wearing it himself as a kid. Well, now you're a ghost. And it's different than you expect, and you end up falling for all the ghost cliches. Even after life you're letting yourself down a bit. I've never seen a movie about a ghost with a character arc.

I'm incredibly excited for this flick, but I hope it doesn't try too hard to be "different".
I don't mind slow or drifting. I sat through "Last Days"... I can handle anything after that one. This idea and image is so fascinating that I can't get it out of my head. Originality is rare, even when it's eh.

Despite his not-great working reputation, Casey Affleck picks interesting projects, and I thought this was one of them: a small beautiful story about impermanence, priority and love, told by a sheet with eyeholes.

This movie is just amazing. It really broke my heart, but in such a beautiful way... Really overwhelming. To see people like him make such meaningful, humble and subtle art really is a blow to the mind.

I think the party scene is a double edged sword were people who need it in the movie it’s there and it’s not necessarily a bad acted scene. But as someone who already knew what this movie was saying it was midlying annoying. To me it doesn’t take away enough from the movie it’s still a 10/10 movie for me.

It might sound crazy but i believe the spirits of the dead have influenced him to make this movie. Some of these remind me of a deceased person who has done similar things. Just saying.
