The third pass of optimizations is done! Didn't find quite as much timesave as the previous pass, which was expected. Still cleaned up quite a bit and saved nearly 20 seconds off the last one. The chapters are getting quite optimized now. Hope you enjoy the Any% TAS!
Also thanks to Angrevol, Benteezy, Breakdown, and Buhbai for coming up with strats to test out.

@Shadow Nightsss they once said in a stream thats it just the camera not catching up fast enough and when this happends you can go through spikes, im not sure tho but i think thats it
@Shadow Nightsss you can also look at it in .25 speed, there is no dash
Essentially if you are through the spikes before the camera loads to there they can’t kill you, and the spikes don’t have a solid hit box you can’t go through, so you just phase through them. They explained this in a tas stream for an event

even though it's a program, it's still very impressive. It must have been a real workout to discover all these optimizations and code, just for the Summit, 2000 lines of commands. Although.. playing Celeste made me feel like 2000 isn't so much, since I died 5600x to finish the game >.

The thing about TAS runs is that sometimes you just don't even consider some possibilities because they would be impossible on normal runs

Hope that my explanation will be clear and somehow right :D
It's what they called Ultra dash. After doing a diagonal down dash from an high enough height, they can get a speed bonus (of 20%) by "sliding" and jumping (giving another speed bonus of +40) without being stopped (from a normal height, the dash stop during the sliding, on the ground, and when you chain two of them, you lose a lot of speed. But here, the dash stop during the fall and they can keep building speed).
Although they lose some speed cause of the friction, they get multiple +20% and +40 of speed bonus, which become crazy.

I know about all/most of the advanced movement tech in this game but haven't heard of tomato squishing - is that a term for one of the advanced techs or am I missing a joke lol?

You can jump off spiked walls as long as your movement is angled away from the spikes. Human speedrunners do this occasionally, though not 3 times in a row like the TAS did. For the part in Mirror Temple, she was travelling so fast that she did not touch the spikes. If you pause and go frame by frame, you can see how her hitbox just barely misses the spikes.
And you actually need to do this kind of thing if you attempt to get the special Golden strawberry in Level 1 (do the level without any dash)
And it's freaking obnoxious to pull it off consistently. It's almost frame perfect.

Moving so fast that you clip through the spike wall isn't, though.
It's actually a thing in almost all platformer games, if you move faster than your own characters width (per frame), you'll be able to go through things that you shouldn't, because it doesn't detect collision. If celeste didn't have a 60fps cap this wouldn't happen.

You've done the any% 3 times now, is all strawberries and/or all sides being worked on while this is being done too? I'm super hyped to see more strawberries tailing you as you go through the entire level. lol
Maybe eventually, but ARB and 100% are going to be huge undertakings. Not something being worked on currently.
All strawberries will take a very long while to make cuz it's already painful to make this stuff

hearing the game so fast highlights the soundtrack. absolutely love how it all is based around that one celeste motif that finally comes to front in the summit chapter

In January 25 its 1 year of Celeste infact this is the best speed run I've ever seen it totally beat 28min record but sad this is an old record.
The 28min record finished chap 5 in Bim side but you sir completed it without B side
How about an assist mode, no ground contact run?
Or, even more interesting, assist mode, all strawberries, no ground contact. Just seeing a giant line of strawberries fly throughout the level would be satisfying.
Maybe only cutscene touches?

I don't have any plans to do one currently. 100% would take forever to TAS well.
100%? pshh, 114% is where it's at.
For TAS, 114% wouldn't be any harder than 100%, except the winged golden strawberry, which would be cool to see.
