      And with my CVO 110 thinking about going with a 222 cam . What’s your thoughts? Oh, that cam is at 222 woods Real nice for torque. Another guy running these and they’re good. I am adding a lot of compression well 10 1/2 to one. I’ll let you know how it does. I think it will do pretty good not too extreme. I just curious with the water cold heads. Really have no option for an oil cooler. My bike is a cruiser heavy to up bike long distance. We like mountain Smokies. I guess it should be pretty good . I’ll let you know the numbers I like my bike do not like the new CVO’s That’s my opinion we’ll see. Thanks. Always looking for information.

    I ride an S&S sidewinder 110. S&S 4 3/8 crank, and 585 cams. The only time I find the bike getting really toasty is when I play whack-a-throttle and have fun in the higher rev ranges. A good tune makes an astronomical difference from comfy to chestnuts roasting on an open fire! When touring and keeping the rpm's down, heat hasn't been a problem. I'm more interested in corrected compression ratio. I personally aim for about 9.5 corrected compression ratio. Gives me cranking compression pressure of about 195 psi. This means I can still run 92 octane and keep the engine reliable. What this video is failing to talk about is if you are running a 10.5:1 compression ratio then you need a cam that really hangs the intake valve open longer. These aggressive cams aren't designed for low end torque where most people ride. Sure, you gain low end torque through bigger displacement but then you lose it again because the intake valve is still open while the piston is coming back up on the compression stroke. You need to have the RPMs up higher to make this efficient.
    A better plan is to talk to the guys at Fuel Moto or similiar. Tell them what you're trying to accomplish and they'll give you a tried and true parts list that compliment each other. If you want to figure it out on your own, Big Boyz Head Porting has some of the best calculators to help figure out what your end results will be.

    I see a lot of talk about cams and big bore kits, but you don't see much about head work. Coming from the car world, good flowing heads are key to making power.
    Why is there little to no mention of this with Harleys? It's always cams, then bore, and maybe then "Oh yeah, get some port work done." Just wondering...

      @GixxerFoo  7 месяцев назад +1

      Harleys make really good power with cams and big bore kits with the stock heads. Port work or buying performance heads can be anywhere from 500 to 3K bucks. It comes down to extra cost, extra down time, finding someone to do the work or shipping your heads to a shop on the net and hoping it all get's done right and they come back in one piece from the shipping my company. That's just my guess on the matter.

I’d love to pick your brain on the best way to amp up my 08 Dyna low rider 96cubic inch. In a way that’s pretty affordable and would keep the bike reliable. For about 3-4k if that’s possible, (with labor) would Love to hear your insight. Have a great new year! Forgot to mention my bike has a stage 1, exhaust and air filter. Sorry for the late late reply, but I appreciate your support on the channel! It's gonna be a challenge to hit the numbers your looking for with parts and labor but to keep you on budget at least I would look at a cam set swap. The labor is what's gonna eat theb budget more than anything. To get the most bang for you buck on a cam swap the TW-222 would be a great way to go. Since you've got the exhaust and air cleaner that should get your 96 around mid 90's on the horsepower and right around 100 ft lbs of torque. Getting a good dyno tune, parts, and labor all together that should keep you on budget and get you really close to your numbers. You won't be disappointed at all with a cam swap!

    I had a question, maybe some people could help me out. I'm thinking about doing a 97 cubic inthat's a cute weekend 10 and a 1/2 to 1. Jim's big board kid comes with cylinder's heads, rocker box pistons and piston rings.
    With delkron cases I'm more or less looking for suggestion on Parts to keep reliable

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  7 месяцев назад

      The cases are for sure gonna up the reliability big time! 10.5:1 will make it scream, just add a good cam, cam plate and high volume oil pump. Make sure you change all your bearings for sure, get a good tune and you'll be good to go.

    • @GixxerFoo

      I love that concept and they work very very well. Biggest thing is if the cam in the easy start version is what you're looking for in a cam.

    My dude, I have a 2005 dyna, I was looking to get a big bore 100 sns kit, cams, full exhaust, etcetera, maybe even heads. I've seen lots of good commentary on the 100 kit but I've also seen some detractors, particularly a guy that blew his motor, stating that the cylinder head and the sidewall is two different types of metal and are prone to such problems. Is this true? Is this true of Harley cylinders as well? Like stock? Really want to get more power out of my bike but also care about longevity, thanks dude

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  7 месяцев назад +1

      The pistons and the cylinders have a anti friction coating from the factory in my understanding. I haven't seen any major failures on big bore kits due to dissimilar metal. The biggest cause of failure on big bore upgrades is usually improper tuning being the main culprit. Then improper break in, workmanship and lastly manufacturing quality happens but rare.

      @@GixxerFoo thank you so much for the reply bro! Turns out after seeing my mechanic, he recommend I don't go with the bore kit considering the age on my engine, however we are going to do a host of other things, cams, heads, all new suspension, exhaust intake etc, everything should be done by the end of this month, really hyped for it

      From what they are saying is it's 10.7 with 1mm oversized valves in fully machined cnc heads. I don't really buy that honestly but they are spinning those motors to 7,000 rpm. That's a lot for a big twin.

  • @RickyG512
    @RickyG512 11 месяцев назад +1

    Sounds like this video is based on twin cams. Most fuel motos big bore kits are way over the compression ratio you're saying is safe. Your videos are amazing but just wish they were more based on M8s

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  11 месяцев назад

      With the right tuning and a big oil cooler, maybe even fans you can run some really high compression on the street with a Twin Cam or even an EVO.

    • @RickyG512
      @RickyG512 11 месяцев назад

      @GixxerFoo I hear ya, but FuelMoto sell BBK with 12:1 compression. Will you be doing more M8 videos in the future?

    • @travism8412
      @travism8412 11 месяцев назад

      The cam has a lot to do with what is a safe compression ratio. When the valves open and how long they stay open changes cylinder pressure. You may have heard the term dynamic compression.

For distance riders I prefer to stay on the conservative side ,I have gotten into the wilds and found one grade of gasoline at the pump which led to pinging rattling and predet.
