    Watched a lot of home gym tours and yours is one of my favorites. No wasted space and you can do most exercises. Also great that you have open space in the middle of the gym. Well thought out gym!!

    Awesome gym. Thanks for sharing! I love how you have a jammer arm setup, separate from your cable stacks, and then a separate squat rack. That must save so much time.

    The gym pin for the cable stack is nice, but what is the max weight the cables can tolerate before they snap since they are not designed to lift heavier than their designated weight stack?

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  Год назад +2

      Sorinex uses 3/16" nylon coated aircraft cable. Breaking strength is 4200 lb and average recommended working strength for cables is 20% breaking, so 840 lb. No concerns regarding the gym pin.

    Such a great set up. One of the nicest home gyms I've seen with such quality equipment.
    Where did you get your balance pads from? Haven't seen wipeable ones rather than exposed foam and these seem more durable

  • @myfreegym

    I love the way you configured your apex with the kettle shelves acting as wide crossmembers. I had it with the standard crossmembers with those shelves between the center. The shelves got in the way of a spotter, and the crossmembers weren’t wide enough in the normal config.
    I ended up taking it all apart, selling the lat pull-down and fcc and making it into an 8 post rack instead.

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah the center shelf is so tempting for storage but I like the look of that open, at least for now. I don't plan on moving any time soon but I do like the flexibility of this for the long run

    Is your flooring carpet tiles? Need new gym flooring and I've been thinking about those rather than something made of rubber that'll stink up the place. If so how do you like it?

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  2 года назад +1

      The flooring is a multi-layered rubber-- same quality/thickness you'd find in commercial facilities. Softer top layer for comfort and firmer bottom layer to protect your concrete pad from dropping weights. It also won't compress under the rack over time. And no smell! The company is PLAE. It came shipped on a pallette in four 4 foot wide spools that each weighed 450 lb. Almost 2000 lb. of rubber down there! It was installed directly to the concrete pad with adhesive. Rubber tiles would have been easier to get downstairs and would be my recommendation for basement gyms.

    How smooth are those cables? I am thinking about getting this, rogue, or prime fitness and I can't seem to get many opinions on the sorinex cable system. Also, how did you set up your rack to get cables attached to your jammer arms?

    • @asambi69
      @asambi69 2 года назад

      Sorinex are great quality, but don't have many options for accessories.

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  2 года назад

      The sorinex cable system is fantastic-- so smooth. Very high quality. The Rogue cable system doesn't fit under 9 ft ceilings so I never considered it. I was thinking about the Prime cable but decided I wanted the integration of everything for more space efficiency. It would be nice if they came closer together like the articulating arms of a Prime, but I have no regrets. And if I ever want to put the cable columns closer together later on down the line I can do that and just detach them from the rack.
      I'll do a bit about my cable / jammer arm set up on the next home gym video: I mounted 2 standard (amazon purchased) pulleys on the back of the rack and have extra cables I can quickly connect / disconnect to attach the arms to the cable stacks. This gives me enough cable length to use the jammer arms.

      @CitizenAthletics  2 года назад +1

      @@asambi69 Their 3x3 4-way hole post design with 1 inch hardware is compatible with many other companies which really expands your ability to add accessories. Rogue, Rep, Titan, Fray, Stray Dog to name a few

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  2 года назад

      Thank you! The Apex rack starts at 9k USD but doesn't include most of the accessories or storage shelves. It ended up being a little over 20k with the upgrades. This price also includes shipping & install.

    Problem when you use the "gym pin" many of the cable machines have weight limits and this exceeds it. Therefore causes damage. Just a thought

    • @CitizenAthletics

      I'm not concerned about that with this rack but I agree that in some applications it can be risky.
