- At our September 12, 2019 meeting we paid tribute to the Beatles by learning to sing and strum a classic hit from their Abbey Road album: “Octopus’s Garden,” an upbeat and catchy tune penned and sung by Ringo Starr. Abbey Road was released 50 years ago this month, in September of 1969, and still ranks as one of the greatest albums, by any artist, of all time. Many thanks to Aaron Lewis for joining us on U-bass!

Hi Bob - I still listen to a lot of Beatles music - and play a few of their tunes on my uke. "Honeypie" and "I Will" are two that spring to mind - and now I can do "Octopuses' Garden" too.

Not only sung by Ringo Starr but also composed by him like his Yellow Submarine, he was also blessed like George Harrison and we thought mistakenly that Paul and John did everything.
absolutely agree w you but i just HAD to point out that Yellow Submarine was credited to the Lennon-McCartney partnership but was given to Ringo to sing. he just had that voice that made songs sound magical. the only 2 songs he composed while within the Beatles were Don’t Pass Me By and Octopus’s Garden. Octopus’s Garden is arguably a top 5 Beatles song tho
He got a bit of help from George Harrison with the arrangement when he performed it for them while Paul and John stood there snickering.
