I wanted to congradulate for seeing this event and recording it with the seestar s50. I used my galaxy note s24 Ultra and a Tridapter on a pair of bushwell binnoculars. It is difficult for me to use the telescope and other scope that was on sale for this event but That seestar was something that caught my attention for it. Everyone was worrying so much in texas, myself included that we had to switch to go to illinois, Devils backbone park and campground. Just to see the spectacle with 100% assurance of clear skies. Thank you so much for sharing this video Because I wanted to know how it compares to my own phone in terms of recording. Sadly I took photos instead since I was new to an advance feature on camera set-up.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was kind of touch and go for me. I didn't want to risk clouds in Illinois, even though it looked like it was mostly high clouds, so that's how I ended up in Maine.
Honestly, the biggest things is that you got to see it with your eyes. The photos from my first two total solar eclipses were kind of terrible. (This was from the film days.) I'm sure your phone photos were better. But really being there to see it was the biggest thing. (And even though I've been to several eclipses, my main photo rig didn't turn out. Mostly because I was doing too much at once.)

You captured an amazing view of the eclipse. The excitment of onlookers added to the spectacular photographic artistry. Congratulations on a job well done!

Thank you so much! I went into it wanting to get some video, and ideally get the audio from the event. I actually had two different cameras recording audio. I ended up using the audio from the other camera with this video, because the mic I had on this camera picked up too much of me losing my mind at totality. lol. (The other camera was right next to this one, but it had a more directional mic pointing away from me.)

@@erewhon42 After driving so far with so little sleep and 3 children to tend to it's a wonder you were able to set up your equipment to get this spectacular shot. Nice work!

Thanks! I ended up in Houlton Maine. It was really far but it was worth it.

It really is spectacular. There are not enough words. I was in Island Pond Vt. to see the eclipse. Unfortunately, I was too wrapped up in trying to figure out how to photograph it (fail on the diamond ring/eclipse itself), that I did not just sit back and relax, to take in what the natural eye observed.

I know how that is. I've seen a few total solar eclipses, and I think this was the first one where I actually used some binoculars during totality to look at the corona.
