Mine was the medal for valiantry. As a vet, it hit home. You don't come back whole. There are bits that are left behind. I can feel my spaces at times.
Jon, although I love how your content shows some of these games as "first impressions", in some games i kinda wished you did a full playthough. This one is very relaxing, and probably one of my favourites I found through your channel
Are people not aware that a _"Dormant"_ Volcano can still erupt? Dormant just means not active, it doesn't mean its dead. A dead volcano is referred to as an _"Extinct"_ volcano.
I've always admired your memory Jon. You can remember so many details in each game you play. Love your videos and I look forward to more and more of your work :)
Hey Jon, I love your work man. You've gotten me through so much, and I hope you have a great day. It's 5 where I'm at and I'm ready for this great video!
If I had to guess, none of the ghosts are going to be willing to be the Custodian, but at the end Morris and Sparky realize that, though Morris isn't an old enough ghost, Sparky is, and Morris stays with Sparky on the island together.
You know that outro is going to be the clip posted to this channel when John actually dies. It's kind of dark, but also perfect and he will have recorded it himself thinking of something else completely.
Actually it predates LotR. The West was always the land of the dead in Anglic and Celtic traditions. Sunset and all that. And why it is a bad omen when theWest wind blows. It is said the slaugh ride on it.
Shelmerston is the name of the English West Country village port that features in the Aubrey-Maturin series of novels by Patrick O'Brien. Given some of the artefacts in the museum, I'm assuming that this is the canonical history of the village, and that Morris is descended from Privateers and/or smugglers.
The notion that any dead person can dive into my mind and extract any memory, thought or opinion from my skull to look at and scrutinize is a frightening idea to dwell on.
I'm never this early, I just want to say thank you for all that you do! I'm a two year old listener (I'm 23 lol that was misleading)but I can't wait to see the new absorbing content that you send out into our ether! Live long and prosper nerd 😉
John while i was tabbed out of the video for a moment "But we do know that some of the artists are... are apple people" Me: Who couldve thought. Oh... oooooooh.
Just letting you know, I couldn't watch this video because it hit me way too hard in the feels. I used to have a dog, a little girl dog named Sparky who loved to chase tennis balls. She passed away a few years ago at age 17 and I miss her so much.
Reminds me of Spiritfarer, tho different play styles, but the general concept of fulfilling those who have passed so they can move on. Hope MATN gets around to playing it at some point.
Sparky's voice sounded a lot like Clare's to me! This was a sweet game, but truthfully the first two characters seemed to die fairly early too. No one, so far, was in their late 70s or 80s! A fun change of pace!
I... I am sorry to just put it in a comment but... Our family's dog died recently and I 've got so surprised by Jon mentioning the ghost dog two minutes in... Well let's say this one got emotional really quickly.
Day 164 of requesting zoo tycoon. This is the second-most extreme game about death this week! Considering there were only two, this really isn't that big a thing
Does anybody know why Jon chooses to use a controller in literally every game. Watching him fiddle with the triggers to see a particular thing was quite frustrating.
Maybe it's just the Tolkien nerd in me but I really liked how they described traveling to the afterlife as "going into the west"
Jon this would be great as a mini series, i would so love for you to continue playing this please.
Britain: *builds high-tech lighthouse automation robot*
Also Britain: *sends it over in a rowboat*
What else would they send it over in?
As soon as Sparky quoted the dead regulations I thought "how very British..." lol
“I am dead” sounds like a perfect title for the fallout 4 yolo grand finale lol
Finale*
last time I was this early, jon was still alive
Well done sir
Game about revisiting home from life you've just lost
Jon after one and a half minute of gameplay: 'This might be a lot more sad then I was expecting'
Jon: 'It's lovely and relaxing'
Me crying ms for almost an hour rn: 'Whatever you say'
7 minutes in, the reunion with the dog punched me way harder than it ought to have
Mine was the medal for valiantry.
This feels like a friendlier distant-cousin of "Return of the Obra Dinn"
Speaking of which........ *cough cough* part 3 *cough cough*
Of which we need a part three. @Many A True Nerd: Jon, we need the next one.
30:12 - Seems Jon doesn't know what a lobster is
This game is just oddly beautiful.
Charming, it's very charming
And the experience isn't ruined by ads blowing out your headphones every few minutes, lovely
Morris and Pete talking was possibly the most charming conversation I've ever heard, and exactly what I needed this week.
Are people not aware that a _"Dormant"_ Volcano can still erupt?
Dormant just means not active, it doesn't mean its dead.
A dead volcano is referred to as an _"Extinct"_ volcano.
Ty
I wonder if the funny green treats Sparky mentionoed were "herbal"
Crossed my mind as well.
Me: Oh, I bet the Buddha's in the vacuum
Jon: Let's look EVERYWHERE else except the vacuum
I was literally thinking the same thing, it annoyed me a little lmao.
He's the voice of Gelebor in Skyrim.
And is Sparky the voice of Leliana in Dragon Age? -- placing them has been driving me crazy XD
OMFG
Rubik's cubes can be all one color. They're called force cubes. Also the one in the game isn't solvable because there are two green centers.
Don´t die Jon, my heart can´t take a world without you - or your videos by extension!
I've always admired your memory Jon. You can remember so many details in each game you play. Love your videos and I look forward to more and more of your work :)
1:10 Jon, you do remember the concept of boats, right?
44:33
"[...] obscure British tiny island heaven, which is apparently in the West."
Avalon?
Or possibly Valinor, I guess.
Hey Jon, I love your work man. You've gotten me through so much, and I hope you have a great day. It's 5 where I'm at and I'm ready for this great video!
He is literally dead right now, hard to have a nice day with that
@@hopin8krzys I guess so lol
If I had to guess, none of the ghosts are going to be willing to be the Custodian, but at the end Morris and Sparky realize that, though Morris isn't an old enough ghost, Sparky is, and Morris stays with Sparky on the island together.
Thought just the same
My prediction for the ending: Sparky will be the new Custodian.
You know that outro is going to be the clip posted to this channel when John actually dies. It's kind of dark, but also perfect and he will have recorded it himself thinking of something else completely.
Loving the nod to LOTR with 'gone into the west'. That's a well read dog.
Actually it predates LotR. The West was always the land of the dead in Anglic and Celtic traditions. Sunset and all that. And why it is a bad omen when theWest wind blows. It is said the slaugh ride on it.

Oh this game is just delightful.
"I thought this was gonna be happy and relaxing. I wasn't emotionally ready for this"
Niether are we, Jon
Well, I went into a game that says that you are revisiting your home town after death knowing that I'll be sad and I'm gonna cry
This is such a beautifully written and well executed story, it genuinely feels real!
It's done. I bought this game, too. It had me at "volcano".
i love your enthusiasm mate, thanks for this
Pete's medal is a Conspicuous Gallantry Cross. Seriously heroic chap, it seems.
that dog is patronizing af....
I really shouldn't watch heartfelt stuff at work. Curse you, beautiful game!
How do you never miss with these pun titles? Too clever lol
Oh Jon, thank you. I didn't know I needed this today, but I certainly did
Jon, Jon, Jon! You should check out To the Moon, it's a heartbreaking story about dead people and mementos as well.
Oh this game seems _delightful_
This would be a fun chill live stream
This is lovely! Hopefully you'll finish it on a livestream :)
I'd love to see more of this
The vacuum cleaner, Jon..... It was so obviously in the vacuum cleaner!!
I'm never this early, I just want to say thank you for all that you do! I'm a two year old listener (I'm 23 lol that was misleading)but I can't wait to see the new absorbing content that you send out into our ether! Live long and prosper nerd 😉
Boy I hope this one shows up as a live stream option.
Have I lost the ability to see in more than 16 colours?
This really is exactly what i needed
This game looks wonderful
John while i was tabbed out of the video for a moment "But we do know that some of the artists are... are apple people"
Me: Who couldve thought.
Oh... oooooooh.
Reminds me so much of total biscuit. I feel we’ve been missing that for a while
You were a good soul jon
The dog talking about ghosts going west, is that a reference a reference to Lord of the Rings?
Why do I feel like this game is going to make me cry?
I'd quite like to see more of this
Must have got poisoned by some mirelurk hatchlings to end up dead on a beach
Naww, the old guy's accent reminds me of my granddad. ❤
Just letting you know, I couldn't watch this video because it hit me way too hard in the feels. I used to have a dog, a little girl dog named Sparky who loved to chase tennis balls. She passed away a few years ago at age 17 and I miss her so much.
On the off-chance I get to hang out with dogs forever, I'm getting one
Reminds me of Spiritfarer, tho different play styles, but the general concept of fulfilling those who have passed so they can move on. Hope MATN gets around to playing it at some point.
This game definitely appeals to me, not quite sure why......
What a charming game.
1:50 “for the greater good”
what a great game name
Please finish this beautiful story
Also funnily enough that is not what the inside of a rubik's cube actually looks like. Wouldn't work if it did.
I agree there would not be any color squares inside!!
Yes
So, when you're dead the dog teaches tricks to you instead? Got it.
Sparky's voice sounded a lot like Clare's to me! This was a sweet game, but truthfully the first two characters seemed to die fairly early too. No one, so far, was in their late 70s or 80s! A fun change of pace!
getting tolkien vibes from 'going into the west' being the afterlife thing, all these ghosts are going to valinor, i guess
i wasn't aware of any volcanos in ireland...
31:00 Omg it sounds like Jodie Whittaker's doing some of the narration
Jon playing a game about observations... it went better than expected.
I wonder if the bureaucracy is a reference to the amazing "Beetlejuice"?
Is there any doubt that Morris will be the last ghost and he'll become the new custodian?
I fucking love games like this
Is that the same voice actress as Leliana in Dragon Age Origins? Can't find the credits anywhere...
live forever with dog = life mission complete
About fifteen minutes into this video, I decided to stop watching and buy the game.
Jon have u played the long dark its a survival game u can play a main quest or do survival challenges think you'd like it
I... I am sorry to just put it in a comment but... Our family's dog died recently and I 've got so surprised by Jon mentioning the ghost dog two minutes in... Well let's say this one got emotional really quickly.
I'm pretty sure I heard some voices from the Dicebreaker channel. Can someone confirm or deny?
Man that dog is hellaugly!
Man I got worried when I saw the video title
A volcano would be an excellent addition to most British seaside towns, ngl.
Hell yeah. Volcanos and fish and chips
I wonder if lucid dreaming is good practice for the afterlife?
Day 164 of requesting zoo tycoon. This is the second-most extreme game about death this week! Considering there were only two, this really isn't that big a thing
Crusader Kings 3. New episode. Now.
love u jon
Sparky reference to Frankenweenie
I hope the dogs ends up being evil and is going to erupt the volcano
Do we have an ETA on fallout 4 yolo
Dogs don't hate fruit though...
Casper the friendly ghost?
Food for the mighty algorithm
THE VACUUM JON! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LOOK IN THE VACUUM!!!!
Exactly what I thought when he was looking everywhere!!!
But Jon? What about Jeremy?!
Does anybody know why Jon chooses to use a controller in literally every game. Watching him fiddle with the triggers to see a particular thing was quite frustrating.
Morris & Sparky changing colour after talking to Pete and moving on to finding Val kinda annoys me...
You did say you would upload YOLO *even if* you were dead
