I am sorry for your loss, this is never easy but you're right - this is homesteading. It has to be a lesson learned to keep the others safe. For that situation, with the electric I'm wondering if was an owl or other bird of prey, or something that came down from a tree perhaps? For the eggs, it could be the weather changes, or that predator could have been stalking them at night looking for it's opportunity. The stress can slow their egg production. Just my thoughts, I'm no pro so take them with a pound of salt, haha. Regardless, I am looking forward to your next video! Happy homesteading until then!
So the electric actually got tripped! We had a small break in it and overnight something walked right in and grabbed her. Completely our fault but now it's back to morning and night checks! Our layers are in a coop/covered run combo and the very next day, we got 9 eggs haha! So I think just a bad homesteading day. I am about to post our greenhouse tour and am looking for layout suggestions so let me know what you think!! Thanks for all the feedback and kind words.
