Oh my goodness gracious me Franki, at the age of two here and yet again, your vocabulary and pronunciation is outstanding. Full credit to mommy and daddy and any other adults in your world. It just proves that talking to and with children at a very young age, is well and truly going to yield a big difference in how they communicate. If only more parents would take time to communicate with their little ones, instead of leaving it up to a tv or an iPad to “teach” a child or to stimulate and entertain them. Thank goodness the Pior family actually talk to each other

The biggest, most enormous thing is… stop talking baby talk to them as soon as they’re beginning to speak. They’re literally learning to speak *from listening the adults in their life speak,* and yet so many adults continue to speak to them in a way that normal adults don’t speak. If you mostly talk baby talk to them, they’ll talk baby talk to you. Have you ever heard your kid say a word that sounds ludicrously advanced and been like “what the heck, where did they learn that?“ The answer is “from hearing adults talk to each other when you didn’t know they were listening.” The biggest thing is to make them feel included in conversations and.. this is a big one… not to assume anything it too advanced. You have to first believe they CAN understand difficult words if exposed to them, and that they CAN learn to speak this eloquently at this age. Be expressive, sound things out, speak normally.. It’s insane people assume kids’ vocabulary is somehow limited when st that age they’re actually complete sponges, neuroplasticity through the freaking roof, way higher than adults, and it actually begins to *drop* significantly after like age 3-5 (when kids begin formal schooling). At age 3-5, kids can very easily become multilingual. It is insane how prone to learning they are. So… exposure, exposure, exposure, exposure. Read to them. Watch something other than baby tv with them. Talk to them. Do word games like this with them. The biggest motivator for speech for kids isn’t just engaging games or lessons though. It’s being able to communicate with adults. So communicate with them!
