    Doug, I love that blue and how it moved with the water. Then your details about the line must go behind the fence post, & other gems, PRETTY PLEASE, keep it up!!! Keep talking to us as though we’re leaning over your shoulder and you’re telling us why you’re doing what. You are an amazing artist & have your own style, which I love. You literally have done an entire painting & I’m encouraged & find myself wanting to paint pronto! Why? Because, sven though you recently started a channel, all you have needed is genuine you ✅, really want to help others succeed ✅ and very talented ✅. For me, there’s nothing worse than someone making it sound like they’re messing up majorly. Especially when it’s still beautiful. Instead of seeing myself successful, enjoying great people along the way & hearing you talk through (what you might call) not so perfect moments. I see It’s possible and you have a gift to inspire ~ which actually gives others what they/we need to succeed, even though very human.
    You keep being your amazing self and your world can only get bigger & brighter with a whole bunch of new friends along the way.
    Just like someone else said, I get excited to see that you have another one up. I know It’s going to be good.
    Cheers! 🍻

    Dunnit...I have a couple of bottles of blue Quink, as I use a fountain pen to write with, have done for years. It's very blue, almost Ultramarine compared to your ink, which is a fab colour. I so love this technique. it's a step on from line and watercolour. Thanks for the inspiration..

      Sounds great! Yes I love this technique. It's so economic and minimal but if done well can give amazing results. Glad you like and thanks for your comment.

    It’s happy Friday night here. I can tell I’ve been watching you a lot (a guarantee of genuinely delightful). Thank you for being so freaking transparent about beautiful oops. It helps take the fear out of it for me. Seeing you problem solve & not be mean to yourself, but go on rolling with it, gives me confidence. I mean I AM the artist😜. I’ve grown so confident watching you that I actually just went for it today and did THREE small pieces…and fully enjoyed myself!! Even surprised myself. Love seeing your videos. Like hanging out with friends!

      That's really cool to hear. It's so important to except that happy little accidents are all part os the art journey and roll along with them is part of the fun. It makes us all relax and enjoy art. So glad your getting something from the videos. That's makes me very happy. 😁😁

    Er...you did make a meal of that fence😂 Should recommend Diamine ink for this type of work. They have loads of brilliant watersoluble colours and the prices are very good. AND, they are made in Liverpool UK. Plus, it is good to go back over the foreground lines when dry, perhaps with a different colour to increase the contrast. Many thanks

    Fabulous Doug, I need to go and buy some non - waterproof ink now!, amazing how the ink once wetted almost makes its own values, darker near the original line and more washed out away from the lines. So effective

    • @dougjacksonart
      @dougjacksonart  Год назад +1

      It's a really fun technique and you can quickly get a feel for it by just playing with wetting and layering. That the joy of it. If you do this with chromatic inks you can get all sorts of crazy effects. That's another video I will do at some point !

    I really like seeing the process for using water soluble ink. I have allowed myself to use too much ink wash and end up with way too much ink wash on the sketch. Thanks so much!

    • @dougjacksonart

      Yes I have made that mistake many times but it's a fantastic one to realise....the value of negative space and contrast. It's all part of the fun. Remember that the fastest way to learn is to mess up and try again. 👍

    Very impressive I like your technique. at 75 I wish you a recoup, my artistic talents. I had back in high school. I was sketching all the time back then getting into a lot of trouble during class because I was doodling. My art teacher ( RAY DAY ) went on to become an Artist for WALT DISNEY.

      @@dougjacksonart Thanks . Ray taught at my High School, he was VERY talented, he had only been teaching for a few years when in his Art Class '64-'65. He did all of the set designs for the School Plays and I helped build the set and painted. My older brother ( by 2yrs ) dated Ray's Younger Sister in High School.

    What is your favorite archival waterproof ink? And do you ever line out part of a drawing with waterproof ink, then add water soluble ink for the rest of the wash?

      I guess that's one of the dangers of most wet media is getting too much on. Negative space is key. What a fabulous mistake to make though and a great way to learn. 👍👍
