      I can either use a hi lift or a floor jack. I’ve used mine but i only use it when I am not lugging my floor jack around. Purely for trail repairs. I can’t get a bottle jack to lift a wheel without balancing in to blocks which is super sketch and have had a friend almost die doing. Trail repairs are dangerous but it goes floor jack (make sure your pro eagle doesn’t roll on you tho!) > hi lift > bottle jack

    I wouldn’t trade the dobinsons for “inspired performance”. At best they are rebranded icons using more budget friendly materials and methods (most likely) and at worst they are Alibaba knockoffs with eibach. You are going from a company who has been doing offroad suspension for like 75 years vs a budget RTT company that said “surprise” we have a full suspension lineup now. A friend actually got in on the 50 percent off and they like it but the dobi’s had the Inspired Performance setup by a solid 6” on the ramp travel index test and that is with the dobi’s setup having 3/4” bump spacers and allowing a slight wheel lift with stock bumps on the inspired performance rigs.

    • @TR5_Adventures
      @TR5_Adventures  Год назад

      Dobinsons are a phenomenal and renowned brand all the way through. I use their rear springs and will be getting their fronts. I got in on the 50% off from inspired overland and so far, this suspension has held up great. I’ve wheeled it as well, it eats the trails like breakfast. The true test is how long the valves will last before needing a rebuild.

    • @TR5_Adventures
      @TR5_Adventures  Год назад

      No sliders yet.. I’m seriously lacking on those. Dobinsons 677v rear springs to compensate for the weight. Eventually I’ll re gear, it’s driving pretty good on the flat Texas roads with stock gears. Method makes incredible wheels, they have so many color and design options. Solid choice!

      I’m actually designing my own sliders. Gonna be strong but low key and minimal just like the rear bumper. After the sliders, I’ll be doing a front bumper. No re gearing surprisingly, flat Texas roads treat me well with stock gears as it sits. Just the good old ATRAC, no lockers. Haven’t gotten stuck yet!

      Yea I was confused about his comment also. What makes the SR5 better than a TRD?

    • @TR5_Adventures

      Little bit of both. Some had smaller tires, some didn’t know how to use their equipment. I’ve been wheeling for 10 years now so a lot of it usually falls on the driver.

    • @TR5_Adventures
      @TR5_Adventures  Год назад

      @@diamondhead203nothing! TRDs are superior to the SR5 I’m not denouncing that. I’m just saying in my case, in my scenarios on the trails, I’ve articulated through obstacles where locked TRDs haven’t been able to get through. I felt like a trail king in those situations.

    • @TR5_Adventures
      @TR5_Adventures  Год назад +1

      Thanks man! They’re 315/70r17, about 11.9 to 12” wide. I ran 1.25” spacers for a looong time and they were great. Had 285/75’s on TRD pro wheels and the spacers. I recommend starting there and rocking that for a while. You’ll be just fine on 285s on stock width wheels with spacers.

    Panhard bar: it's pronounced PUH-NARD (after the French auto company). Ideally, you should either raise the axle mounting point or lower the frame mounting point to get the bar parallel with the axle (which has the side-effect of centering your wheels). Simply using a longer bar to bring your axle to center when the vehicle is stationary does nothing to fix the altered geometry with a lift while the vehicle is in motion or articulated.

    • @TR5_Adventures

      Take your rear bumper plastic off and take a bunch of cardboard, cut it in strips and play around with it. Cut, measure, and tape the cardboard until it’s shaped into a rear bumper of your taste. Then, start cutting metal to length and measuring, re measuring, cutting, all of that. It took several dedicated weekends with trials and errors like crazy but it eventually worked.
