People using the '17 is almost an adult' doesn't understand that being a 17 years old is very different from being an 18 years old. Yes it is a one year age-gap, however, you learn a lot of stuff during that time and also change a lot as a person during one year period. So it is quite dumb to force people to know everything as soon as they turn 18. Hell even adults that pass the age of 25 still mess up. How do you even expect a really young teenager to not mess up?

Honestly thank you so much for making this video, I appreciate it a lot. It is such a breath of fresh air to see someone come to my defense, even if it wasn't all positive, I still appreciate it. My only gripe is that I never actually said the n word. The reason I'm being accused of being racist is because of a comment I made when someone asked why Birdie's partner at the time said it so much. I said "it's kind of their thing" and it was misinterpreted as me defending them for saying it. I've never said the n word, but everything else you criticized me for was correct as far as I can see, and I'll be bringing it up in my drama video to apologize for the things I've said. Once again, thank you so much for making this video.

maladaptive daydreamer here as well! i usually daydream when swinging on a swingset outside wile listening to music for 3+ hours, sadly after we moved there's no swing at the moment so i have to rock on a rocking chair, or sofa whatever-it's not the wooden type and listen to music for hours. it's actually how i get most of my story ideas from, it's a curse because of how often it happens, but a blessing because of what i can think of artistically

I'm a victim of ab/se myself and have autism and ADD. Like you said, everyone has a different way of coping, and I express myself through characters I love and writing. I believe that Synnibear does need to seek help but that's PRIVATE MATTER. People need to stop hanging over people's shoulder, even if they are famous or have internet points, because they're just people too. Also, like you said, just because it's cute doesn't mean it's romanticizing anything. I express myself through cute stuff and specifically use the aesthetic Traumacore to cope when I'm down.

The art community throws around buzzwords so god damn much that barely anyone knows what they mean. Therefore becoming hypocrites from their claims that are jack filled with buzz words.
I swear, the internet is all about being open about your mental health until it gets uncomfortable for them to listen to. As someone who has had to recover from my bad habits due to a depression, and eating disorder exclusively by myself due to living in an environment were the only response to me talking about my problems were “get over it” its somewhat triggering. I wish Synni the best. Getting eaten alive by the internet right now surely isnt helping

Nothing is really healthy when doing it too much and because maladaptive daydreaming is not qualified as a mental condition (yet) it's really hard to treat it,
I personally trying to keep it down now that I am in a safe environment but whenever I return to the bad environment i daydream alot more,
It's a form of trauma response.
And honestly seeing how people treated the illness made me feel sick because they started demonizing the condition to such an exstreme but then turn around and say "mental health is important UwU" when in reality the reason why they had a problem with it was because they couldn't put their romanticized glitter mental illness filter on the condition and I have a problem with that
I personally believe I maladaptive daydream or have maladaptive daydreaming (however it is phrased) and I have never encountered negativity on it until now
For real though, don't feel ashamed for it. We can talk to ourselves and act on our own but we're not hurting anyone else but us (which sometimes I daydream for hours on end without anything bad happening or anything so sometimes it truly doesn't hurt anyone. you can spend 4 hours straight daydreaming if you've already done everything you needed to get done and if you haven't done it in a long while tbh)

actually hi hello this is something i mentioned in my video (as did other people,) so let me explain why I mentioned it!!
I actually mentioned it to try and help synni not get attacked for the daydreams in question, sense y'know, maladaptive daydreaming is a serious issue and not some choice. I did bring up the daydreams itself however because they were publically posted and showed Birdie in a good light and sense most of Synni's fans would take her side and believe Birdie is good, it'd once again give someone who is incredibly abusive a platform again (hypothetically, it never got to that point because people began to say "wait a minute, synni this kinda wack")

about the thing about synni being on youtube for about 3-4 years, she's actually been on RUclips for 6 years, which is MUCH younger then 13, she was ELEVEN when she started posting on RUclips. ELEVEN.
I would like to add points of my own.
So, about the Hey Juicy meme, while I am pretty sure that some people did think she was romanticizing abuse, I think the main issue people had with the video was that previously, there was no proper trigger warning for abuse. just nothing that said, "Hey, there is abuse in this video!"
About Synni romanticizing abuse in general, the screenshots leaked from discord about Synni saying that she wanted to get r*ped, and was "seeking therapy to find out why she had these thoughts", are in fact NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Imagine venting to someone close online, and all of that personal stuff gets leaked to the internet.
I guess the way I look at it, it can really depend on what kind of fantasies you have with fictional characters that are bad people, such as abusers. I don't like the idea of wanting a fictional character to abuse you, in any kind of way. I'm not saying you can't have fantasies about fictional characters, because that's totally fine. Some people just need to learn that getting r*ped, even if it's from someone you love, is a traumatic experience, and I could see some people who did go through that feeling insulted by Synni's fantasies.(I would like to say, that no, I have not experienced that in my own life, but I could imagine r*pe victims feeling insulted by anyone treating it like it's a good thing, or something to enjoy.)
I do get that we do not know if she has been through something like that, and is just stuck in a sort of head space like some other possible victims.
Let me make it clear, that even though Synni has done some really bad things that should be criticized, SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO GO THROUGH THAT KIND OF TREATMENT, IF SHE DID GO THROUGH IT AL ALL.
While I do find it weird and uncomfortable that she has these fantasies about Birdie as well, a real person, I do see your point in saying that abusive characters can be used as a way to cope with past trauma. Whether it is a healthy way to cope or not, I think it really depends on the person, and what their therapist think is best for them. (Keep in mind I am not a therapist.)
I think it's for the most part ok the be a child and ship yourself with a character who is an adult, mainly because the adult, whether they be a real person or just a character, the adult isn't doing anything to the child, and children are allowed to have crushes on adults.
It can be very healthy to talk about your dark thoughts with another person. People need to stop shaming Synni for venting to someone close.
Oh Yeah i 100% get what you mean by the "hey Juicy meme" and that it was a big problem she didn't put a direct trigger warning on it first which I should have gone more into detail about how "just because I don't talk about the lack of TW situation dosen't mean that she didn't put them on at first" because she didn't put TW on any of her triggering content before people got understandably pissed
But the conversation went from "she didn't put TW on her meme" to "she is romanticizing abuse by even thinking about making these oc how dare she" and that's were the problem laid
However the rape fantasy part is something I again have to remind you is a fantasy. People who has this fantasy does not want to he raped in real life and that alot of victims of rape develop that kink actually
Put this into perspective
If a person gets raped and report it to the police and the police then say "well you had no problem with RP this with X person (or the same person) so that means you probably wanted it" that dosen't sound right does it? That is basically what we are equating
We are comparing a safe RP with a real life crime and that's what people don't understand
I can understand why some victims dosen't like the kink and they have every right to state they feel uncomfortable but we can't just throw other victims of the opposite side under the bus

@@GaetorCreation thank you for sharing your opinions! i guess i just thought that her having certain fantasies means she actually wants those things to happen to her, so i apologize for that. from what you're saying now, people who have been r*ped may look on the experience differently, or think differently on that in general. i do agree with the statement "just because you liked means it was ok" when it is never ok, no matter what the victim thinks. However we still need to remember that it is neer the victim's fault.
I am not trying to say that I know what is going on in Synni's personal life, because i don't. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was making assumptions without actually knowing what is going on behind the scenes.
Edit: i forgot to mention that, like you said, there were other videos she had up with sensitive topics, like one of her animation memes with a character hanging themselves. Yes, i know it was a vent, and i have nothing against venting. It's just that previously, there was no proper trigger warning on that video either. In my opinion, it is perfectly ok to vent, but if there is something featured in it that could trigger some people, a trigger warning is necessary.
Edit 2: In my opinion, seeing any kind of art that features abuse with pastels and glitter and stuff can romanticize abuse, but maybe thats not always the case. Like you said with the topic of analyzing art, the happy, more fun side can show the abuser's perspective, while the darker, more gruesome side shows the victim's perspective. I'm not 100% sure how to feel about things such as dolligut's art, as it is always drawn with things like hearts, glitter, and pastel colors, but the art contains really dark themes. Or just people online who say things like "UwU my character hurts themselves because the are a precious bean" I see that as romanticizing abuse. I do agree that people should try looking at some art in another way.
At least she said she was going to go to therapy to learn why she had those thoughts so it at least proves that she does know that they are wrong
If you fantasize and romanticize abuse then it can convince you that it's okay. Especially if you're a child. I think people should be very careful about that.

As a person who has been diagnosed with maladaptive daydreaming and adhd, if i do not like a person i *physically* cannot daydream about them, though it might be different for anyone. I feel disgusted in people thinking they are all doctors? Please, unless you have graduated psych school or have the illness yourself, you do not have the right to tell them what is or is not allowed in their symptoms.
Im afraid to share any of my ocs trauma/coping mechanisms because im afraid of loosing my own fucking friends. I put a lot of my own struggles into my characters, struggling with procrastination to the point of failing all of my work- self hate and body issues. I have stopped sharing half my art because every time i post no matter how many warnings i have i still gets comments telling me, "Oh well thats unhealthy well stop doing it" I do not know how to cope with my own drama anymore, i used to use jokes to cope but now i cannot even joke with friends in an online game/a discord i own without someone calling me a faker and disgusting just because im more open to sharing my trauma as it *helps* me.

Honestly I can’t put into words how good this video is, I can’t type all my thoughts on it down. I always kind of felt that some of the accusations against them went too far, Synni did do some bad things but she didn’t deserve the kind of backlash she got. However this video kind of made me reflect on some things. Specifically how we treat famous figures on the internet and how we tend to treat accusations such as these, and how in certain situations and we don’t use critical thinking and as a result we react impulsively. And I will admit I even believed some of these claims at one point. Even though I didn’t make a video about Synnibear03, I still watched some videos on the drama and as a result they were able to spread these harmful beliefs about mental illness to me and other people. Anyways I can only hope that this is a wake up call for the animation meme and rant community so that these types of things especially against minors will stop. As an endnote thanks for anyone who took the time to read this wall of text and thank you for making this video and have a good day/night.

I have schizophrenia and maladaptive daydreaming (which is usually coupled with OCD!)
Although my daydreams don't involve real people, they can last as long as a few hours to a whole day! It's a form of escape for me and started late 2014, (might've also been present sooner than that but it was really prevent in 2014 and 2016)
Edit: I should probably that I developed this due to trauma I went through at a young age, I don't see Synnibear as a bad person for her daydreams but that's because I understand that you often can't do anything about it, my daydreams don't involve me but that's likely due to how I wanted to disappear so in my world, I did just that
I do hope she can grow from these types of experiences, as maladaptive daydreaming isn't the most researched, when I learned about it I could only find a few things on it and most of them would mention it often appearing alongside ptsd and ocd, so I wish the best for her

I honestly relate with the crying yourself to sleep after imagining those kinds of things. While I don't know what's going on with Synni, I know that I had my boundaries violated online in a sexual way, and it legitimately gives me nightmares and bad memories. Sometimes I'll wake up from a nightmare and I'm unable to breathe. I don't imagine being touched that way because I like it, I imagine it because the thought crawls into my head and takes over everything.

A big reason why she may be taking so long is that she has to cope with the fact that thousands of people saw her kink and that that will be held over her head for the rest of her internet time

these were great points. i've been looking at this drama seeing how weird people were bashing synni for having trauma, and coping. they just saw something that they thought was bad and tried to conform everyone else into thinking it was bad too. we need people like ponder and spoctor to get on this instead.

Thank you for bringing up the maladaptive daydreaming! It sucks so much that maladaptive daydreaming has been so romanticized to the point where everyone sees it as “quirky daydreaming” when it’s an actual coping mechanism that can actually suck sometimes. This video is a very well put together video and I love it.

I have it too and I don't think people really understand how hard it is having it. I mean yes I do create characters and stories but at a cost. That cost being time I could've spent doing something else. Instead of circling around the house while imagining a whole story line in my head I could've been doing the dishes or my laundry. It isn't voluntary either, I'll be sweeping, decide I want a drink and then spend thirty minutes just daydreaming to music completely forgetting about what I was supposed to be doing. It's also why I was failing my classes back in highschool, I just couldn't for the life of me focus on what the teachers were saying and instead I was making up random scenarios in my head. It really is rather hard to have and why I'm scared of driving.
As someone with maladaptive daydreaming, when people said Synni's maladaptive daydreaming was basically a reason to cancel her I got really nervous and thought there was something really wrong me-

I know this has nothing to do with the video but, the part about trauma reminded me of when my old friends got annoyed at me for talking about trauma "too much" and saying that's not how people with trauma react (because it's what she has to learn about in school), I felt comfortable, I didn't even realise/know I said anything about it, and it just made me feel I have to hide it, even if it was with someone or people I really trust, so instead of getting the help I need, and feeling even worse since my previous counsellors stopped, just made me bottle it up more, so instead of getting the help, I got a bundle of anger because I am autistic, and taking it out on others, and feeling uncomfortable when I share anything, it's really dumb, people shouldn't share or invalidate anything about someone struggling

But that being said, I know that most of the people are saying it are just kids and teens, they don't know better besides "if someone I look too said it, then it must be true!" While unknowingly that might've done some of the same things as Synni, which is fine because they're still young and unexperienced.

It really confuses me how some people think maladaptive daydreaming is just daydreaming a lot and harmless. I was diagnosed with it and it’s actually ruining my life. It’s literally making me fail school and i‘m isolating myself more and more from everything else. And it’s so confusing to me because while I am happy during daydreaming everything else around me is falling apart but I can’t stop either. Literally anything can be a trigger for me. I can’t even read a book or watch a movie without slipping me back into it. I feel so incredibly helpless against it.

honestly by how people have reacted in general, people especially the audiance are open to this point of veiw, i think the problem has been that alot of the most popular videos has been of one narrative, so having something fresh that can take a look of the situation from a diffrent angel is welcomet.

I completely agree. While Synnibear did fuck up, they were a child, and a child struggling with mental illness AND suddenly gaining a large platform and audience constantly judging their every move. That is SOOO much pressure.
I think this also leads into a larger discussion - the villain-ization of mental illness in the art community. No artist can talk about their mental health without immediately coming under fire for any variety of things. Promoting abuse, attention seeking, straight up LYING. It's horrible. It honestly terrifies me as a neurodivergent and mentally ill aspiring content creator. I want to step into the community, but I'm worried the moment I do, if I ever experience any symptoms of anything that isn't deemed "normal," I'll be harrassed to no end for not existing the way others want me to.

People have gone way overboard about not understanding dark themes in art and media. I have gotten sick of listening to p much anyone online about "romanticizing" anything anymore. Most don't understand what it actually means. Like ppl throwing around the term pedophile for every age gap. Things have distinct meanings.
As someone who was abused growing up and in relationships all through life, such themes can absolutely be venting. And to boot, even past trauma can result in coping strategies and needs that ppl claim is romanticizing. I deal with maladaptive daydreaming, have since I was a teeny beany. Sometimes they get very dark, yes, sometimes including rape. It helps to be in control of the situation, it doesn't mean we *want* those things to happen for real. I am in therapy, have been for years. These are real coping mechanisms, and yesss, to the "specifically women" in consensual non con kinks and fantasies.
Love hearing you call out some of the nonsense that has been going on. Because yeah, every creator should be cancelled according to cancel culture. It demands perfection, not humanity. Humans are not perfect beings or machines. No stories can exist without conflict. But when making anything bad happen in your stories and a villain character makes you a bad person who supports those things in life?
Idk, maybe people are becoming a little too invested in fantasy and failing to understand that fantasy does not equal reality, that we can explore dark themes in safe ways, and that does not mean we support those things in life.

but all joking aside, this is a pretty well-made video. people are disappointed, upset, and even angry in/at synni because she was associated with birdie and said people were trying to find dirt on her... solely because she was associated with birdie! synni did and said bad things, like the slur stuff for example, but it disappoints me that people whipped out their trusty ol’ magnifying glass and zoomed in on the *stupidest* things ever (even going to the point where they implied ableist/biphobic things, even if they didn’t mean it). as someone who is both bisexual and has maladaptive daydreams, it’s both silly and disgusting watching people claim synni is ableist and whatnot yet they imply ableist ideas and opinions in their videos!
(almost) every rant video i see about synni is all the same and one-sided, almost as if people are making these videos for clout and attention and not caring about the information they spew out. i have nothing against any of the people making these videos, hell i used to be “somewhat good” (we never talked one-on-one but we enjoyed each other’s presences and i personally enjoyed interacting with them) buds with the creator of one of the most popular synni rants, but a lot of these rants are just *clones* of one another. they just solely exist to milk a situation dry. thank you for making a video addressing/commenting on both sides, to put it in short.
synni isn’t evil and terrible, she just made a few wrong turns in her path. while yes, synni deserves to be held accountable for the things she has done to hurt others, she shouldn’t be getting as much backlash as she is getting now. now the video she’s making, she doesn’t deserve to be whacked constantly like a piñata too stubborn to burst. making a long video addressing a boat-load of claims takes time, pressuring synni to hurry up will just lead to negative consequences on both sides. it’s sick people are doing this, especially when they won’t even bother watching the video.
tl;dr: every synni rant video i have seen is generic and bland and i’m glad i have been fed a well-balanced meal. synni is not extremely terrible, but she needs to be held accountable for her harmful actions on others.

I knew something was off about the really bad accusations but I didn’t look into it because I was kinda iffy about some things. Though she has some some bad things she’s isn’t a bad person. I know how it feels to be basically picked on because i, being a kid did something stupid and all of a sudden I had at least 4 people after me. I know how it feels to make one mistake and then everything go downhill.
The art community doesn’t understand that people change, especially kids change.

Why are people always trying to get into others’ personal business? All of this sounds like it should stay in real life, not on the internet. If you’re going to cope with trauma, putting it online is an extremely bad idea. Share it with close friends, family, or a therapist. I understand wanting to relate to others through shared experiences, but what you type stays on the internet forever. When you’re 25, you wouldn’t want employers to dig up internet history and find drama that should’ve stayed private.

Seriously, thank you for your input on this drama. I know the ones who made the videos had good intentions but some of them happen to be minors or as you mentioned how these people are immature in a sense how they dont see many of the subjects thats being covered. And I've noticed how there's so much policing done on creative works that depict uncomfortable or disturbing content when ofc, art is a good way to explore these topics in a healthy manner. Unless the artist's intent was to harm or to spread harmful propaganda, the artist shouldn't be held accountable by how the viewers react or do in response to their creations.
EDIT: I got to the part where a lot on the internet go as far as to gatekeep those who do weird stuff to cope with their abuse with "more healthy" options which are just some things that dont always work on certain individuals. Its not an end-all-be-all or one-size-fits-all. Each person is different. So you gotta respect on how they cope with their trauma so long as its healthy and not harming others in any way!

I think I'm somewhere in the middle on this situation. I think synni did some shitty things that she should apologise for, but then people, as they always do, decided to find a LOT more things that didn't really matter and tack them onto the end. I'm getting sick of this repetitive drama with different creators. Creator did something bad, people acknowledge it, but then other people want to be part of the situation so they start getting mad over things that don't really matter. It's... dumb
Reading theses comments about how scootaloo is a Mpl character yah but this character has its own twist to make it more personalised, and make the character feel like a new person not even close to the original at times. When I think of Synni, Scootaloo I usually think of people who role play as a canon character they twist character from shows until they are more personal to the person then from the Show.
In my oppinon this video is like a breather when drama like this pops out in the community it goes crazy, and people say the same thing for and example, lovely peaches (I know that that drama doesn’t relate to this one) she got accused for a lot of stuff and people just started making the same videos and accusing her.
I feel like drama in the art community is sometimes dumb or just the same repeated stuff. It’s nice to see something new and to actually address really good points.

Very good video. So far the only videos I've seen on this topic were made by actual children and although I agreed with some of their points, there was always something off about it. You brought up very interesting, unbiased points that made me see the situation in another light. I used to watch synnibears videos a lot when I was 13-15 and ended up appalled by some of their behaviour. After this video I feel something much closer to empathy. I truly wish for them to get better.

Before the drama was brought up 3 months ago she had already gotten her involuntary thoughts under control or at the werry least has gotten ways to cope with them

side note, I've spent more than 5 hours in my bed listening to music and day dreaming since I was a child and i had no idea there was a word for it?? While some people are not handling it well, I do think someone needs to be completely straight with her on who Birdie (or Atlas? I am not sure what his new name is and I have a problem understanding your accent at times sorry) is and how toxic the behaviors she had taken on from him is and how badly it will go if it continues.
You can't make people get out of a toxic relationship, platonic or romantic, because it tends to just drive them even further into said relationship, but an intervention or sorts is definitely necessary. I think Synni needs help, genuine help and to hear she is getting therapy is SO fantastic because I have been watching her content for a long time and having to unsubscribe hurt me but I just couldn't continue to watch the downward spiral. It simply wasn't something I could condone by keeping my sub there.
I'm not a close friend of Synni, I don't have the right to stage that necessary intervention, but someone who is needs to have that conversation, no matter how emotional or awkward it may be.

I have drawn abuse art before, where my character is being abused by her romantic partner. Why?? Because I was actually in an abusive relationship and I'm venting about it. People who draw abuse art are 9 times out of 10 doing it to vent about real life experiences, like myself. It's disgusting that people look at art like that and accuse the artist of "romanticizing abuse", which in all honesty is the equivalent to getting kicked in the teeth and then being told that the reason it happened is because we wanted it to happen, even though we didn't
I was mentally and emotionally abused with a side of being sexually harassed. I could not have been physically abused because it was an online relationship but if it was a physical relationship, I'm sure he would've physically abused me too. After all, he talked about being physically abusive to me. So I've drawn art of being abused in those ways (except for the sexual harassment. Ive never been one to draw sexual art). It would be incredibly harmful to me if people saw this art and told me that I'm "romanticizing abuse" for venting about my abuse. Everyone has their own reactions to this but if I was told these things, I would legitimately believe that I deserved to be treated the way I was
