Great interviewing here: 1.Stephen's done his homework, read the book. 2.He's thought up questions that open the door to great stories. 3.He lets the silence hang as Springsteen speaks, doesn't try to fill it in with more questions. Really rare these days. Loving it.

my problem with Colbert is that he doesn't respond to stories unless he comes up with something. So someone can go for like 4 minutes on something and he'll say "that's nice." That sounds like he's not even paying attention.
I think it is just the opposite. I think he doesn't respond because he is really taking in what is being said, and maybe processsing it. Musicians are often very deep , and so I think he lets it be what it is, and doesn't have to fill that space just to fill it.
The fact that many are done in Italian and regional languages, even in the USA, limits the appeal quite a bit. But I do love listening to the power that a great opera singer brings.
I once I’m 1981 asked Bruce how he does it, perform like he does, night after night. His answer I have never forgotten. He said “ you gotta wanna”. True words. Thru the years he never stopped.

Muy interesante. I love getting insight into people's minds and learning more about them. Especially those who's songs I've heard for years and wondered about. Thank you for sharing bits of your life.
i thought he'd be super-smooth and polished. but actually i saw someone who's somewhat vulnerable and also isn't all adult, kinda has a mischievous, messed-up adolescent in him.

I don't know who to attribute the following quote to - perhaps if it were to be Mr. Springsteen, that would be so apt and also so correct, whomever said it first, well God bless you anyway . . . '' Three chords ... And the TRUTH "
@@donaldcook3112 A thoughtful reply indeed. Dylan has created so many one liners it is futile I would think to try and catalog them. Paul Simon, Bruce . . . Then there is Bob Segar, with only a very few, but of equal depth. _"I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."_ A whole lot of _"Badlands"_ or _"Born to Run"_ and a lot more by Bruce. _"He not busy being born is busy dying"_ by Zimmy (Dylan). Simon said _"The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls."_ You take your wisdom where you find it. After all, to a rat, a bat is an angel.
_"Three Chords and the Truth"_ came from a far more obscure name, but we know his tunes. Harlan Howard wrote Patsy's _"I Called For Pizzas"_ and countless other country standards like _"The Beer's in the Icebox"._ The quote goes back to the fifties, and it is what they say in Music City where songwriters compete as to what it takes to write a good song. Of course in Nashville, they don't always walk that walk, but sweet sassy molassy, it ain't a perfect world, now, is it, Buckaroo.
_Okay, I lied._ Harlan''s titles spoofed above were actually Patsy Cline's _"I Fall to Pieces"_ and the old standard _"The Key's in the Mailbox"._ So sue me, g'wan, I dare ya; but you better get a fast horse if you wanna catch me.

Bruce is the Boss!
I love this guy and the band but he is my#1 idol THE BOSS!
Bruce looks unbelievable - it's the gym.
.
Playing music can get you close to divinity, once you get in the zone it becomes meditation. Nick Cave talks about this as well. It's very addictive.
What a lovely man.
That was awesome. And I totally get it :)
His shows are like church and you got to let the spirit take you where it takes you. Bruce is so real and poetic and the best live show e.v.e.r. ❤
Why does he play them? Because the fans love Bruce and the Estreet band. Love them. And we appreciate you Bruce. You could sell out multiple shows at the same location for nights.
a thoughtful interview. this is why i love stephen. if this were jimmy fallon, he'd skip the nuance and play beer pong.
4 hours 3 min 46 sec
It's so funny to think of playing in front of tens of thousands of people as relaxing. ;)
Heroes, both.
Bruce the GREAT!
Happy Birthday Bruce - from another 23 SEP birthday guy!
Muy interesante. I love getting insight into people's minds and learning more about them. Especially those who's songs I've heard for years and wondered about. Thank you for sharing bits of your life.
i thought he'd be super-smooth and polished. but actually i saw someone who's somewhat vulnerable and also isn't all adult, kinda has a mischievous, messed-up adolescent in him.
i love the boss
I love the boss...
Second one!
Why are they booing ?
theyre saying "Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce"
the most famous under bite of all time....BBBBBRRRRRRUUUUUUCCCCCEEEEE
I've been frantically searching for the best part of an hour for the part where he jams with Stewart and Conan. Can someone kindly point me the fuck to it?
You should have been in the 'Green Room" they all fucked each other until they sobered up. He's a degenerate's degenerates'.His first wife said you was a 'fag'. He has a very small penis, that's what drives him and why the women in his life aren't loyal to him. By the way, have you ever 'fucked'him after a concert. That was the 'ritual'. That's why most the E Street Band left. He was used and abused and loved every moment.
fntime
Sounds like some Illuminati pharaoh shit.
