at least he has his helmet. it's amazing how fast you can get a tree done when you don't use the belts and ropes.not to mentions just being able to cut and drop everything. in fact that's not even a tree climbing harness. looks like a boom bucket harness. dude is a good climber though.
For all the whining about safety from the comfort of armchairs, this man's balance, flexibility, agility, speed are beautiful to behold. And he's the one taking the risks. Yes, the 'pruning's pretty brutal but in that heat and humidity regrowth rates will be extraordinary - he was just cutting a structure he could stand on to give access and I was amazed at his speed of decision-making over this. I counted ten storeys in that block opposite and he finished up on the 9th. I wouldn't...couldn't possibly...do it - but can't help admiring his nerve and matter-of-factness.
Constantly clipping and unclipping safety gear makes you tired and can lead to accidents from fatigue, it also increases the amount of time spent at height. It should be up to the operator to decide when to utilise fall protection. I like Project Mayhem from Fight Club, you choose your own level of involvement. The government fucks everything up, why would you trust them to make your safety rules for you
I do this for a living in UK but i wear boots and a harness among other things.... Its unconventional and he is dangerous in the sense that he has no metaphorical safety net. He relies on his grip alone, but he actually works very quickly and safely. Its not how i do it but there is more than one way to skin a cat. Ive travelled a bit and i can safely say this is nowhere near the worst/most dangerous tree work i have seen, good luck to him and to all the tree climbers out there STAY SAFE
Work always comes first. "Safety" is something companies push hard, because they save a TON of money with the insurance, and in many instances they also receive nice kickbacks for zero claims per year. Almost everyone is replaceable.
wow that was scary I felt a big relief once he was getting closer to the ground climbing down the rope thank God that nothing bad happened and he was alright thanks for sharing the video
He is skilled in climbing, no doubt. But he isn't pruning properly, many branches split instead of breaking cleanly. And also, getting rid of birds does not seem to be a good reason to also get rid of all the leaves on a tree. Both seem to be quite bad goals actually.
Have you been anywhere in South-East Asian? Of course work comes before safety... work feeds the family well, safety slows you down and causes your family to suffer in a very low income household. I nominate the new title for this video to be "I'm a Sissy-Boy and I Don't Understand the Real World".
Did he climb up there or jump across from one of the balconies ? He's got his hard hat on and an invisible safety line to the saw to snag a union if he falls
Gittin' 'er done!! That was amazing... unsafe by all North American/European standards but amazing nonetheless. Very sure footed, seemed to plot his moves. Harness only to support the chainsaw!
These are the best tree climbers. I started like this. Yes there is no safety but makes you very skilled in tree work compared to guys who are use to ropes and harness
So what's the problem here? What was done wrong? This man is fluid and proficient in his work. He's got bigger balls than an elephant and done a great job. It's so easy to film someone and upload on RUclips and be critical from the comfort of home.
guy like that could make huge money out here ... all he needs is proper gear which he may not even have access to everything he needs to do it to our level of saftey
He has to work fast cause it's tiring hanging on for a long time. Why doesn't he ditch the harness?.It's just a hazard to him.Love the self belief and the balance.
this is in Singapore. that guy is a worker from India. these workers aren't paid very high. he might ve getting about S$1000 a month for the work he does. but that money is big money back in India where they will remit their money back to. to families back home. that tree wasn't brought down. it was only pruned so that the birds that roost there in the evenings will move off to some other plAce and give peAce to the residents living there. the leaves will grow in a couple of weeks.

Ive been doing this for 7years since i was 15 i have never used a harness or rope even once an never injured myself either. Although it is very dangerous someone who started without a harness are more skilled at cutting trees then someone who started with a harness. Now i have started buying a harness an other equipment but it doesn't feel the same. i would rather hold onto the tree with my bare hands than trust a harness but that's just me.
That's just plain stupidity. I made the mistake once of attaching a tether to a hand saw. When I started cutting branches off downed limbs one of the cut-offs snagged the tether and yanked the saw blade right into my index finger. I had to pull the razor sharp teeth from my finger. My finger bled profusely and it hurt like hell. After a couple stitches and over a year of healing it's still not the same. There's a large raised scar and it's super sensitive (at least I have feeling, though). This guy is wearing two cables and no harness. All he needs is one unlucky cut to snag one of those cables and down he goes. The difference is I lived and learned from my mistake. Chances are this guy won't be able to.
At least he has a hard hat LOL not to mention his saw choice is an Echo - another plus. Excellent work ethic. I'll have to ad it to my inspiring tree work Vids, even though he should go DRT (climb line/safety line) - which might speed him up.
...wait he had a hard hat and no shoes...amongst countless other blunders. I do not know if I feel sorry more for the tree or the guy? Got to put food on the table...
That a tall tree 2 B free climbing . This guy belongs in a high wire act . Totally crazy , but I would luv 2 C the experts keep up with this nut . Everyone on the ground is an expert
Actually, when you have a fair idea what your doing, being tied in to a climbing line and using a lanyard is actually faster. watch some videos of pros with the right equipment. they could benefit from a rigging line as well. help prevent that mess buildup under him. i don't deny he has some mad skills, and was thinking to myself while watching, wow, he is this good without equipment, i would love to see him with proper equipment and training!

its a no go in modern understanding of tree care. I dont know you and dont want to insult your understanding of flora but a lot has been happening in the tree world last years so you might want to refresh your knowledge.
As an old school iron worker, i applaud the monkey in him. I have worked without being "tied off "for many years. I connected iron in "raising gangs" for years. Course I was younger like this man is. And in Alaska and Washington states, I did my share of tree topping and felling. I also had spikes on for climbing, compete with lanyard to position my self with. But never bare footed, that little monkey must miss his tail. I know i sure did. He is good at what he does, but if he fell out of that tree, I'm sure he would wish he had tied off. 8 stores up, if you go in the hole, chances are you are not going to make it. Funny thing about those fall arrest harnesses.......they work better when hooked to something!
best part is he ties his saw off onto it. Got to keep that saw safe lol

My thoughts as well, extremely efficient and skilled. He earned his $1.50 as that likely the equivalent of what he was paid that day.
