    These guy did an excellent job on the FM1,I wonder if they could complete the restoration of that Stuka project since it's been canceled.

      Think about this for a second.
      Back then you or me or anyone with good motor skills and some common sense could hop into one of these WW2 Wildcats and pretty much fly. It may be ugly but im fairly confident an average to above average person could fly it with little training if any at all. But put me in a F22 or J35....🤔🤔🤔🤔
      First you'd have to get a electric gen cart ran by a big diesel just to start it up. And then .....all those buttons. I wouldn't even try lol

      @@dickfitswell3437its not as hard as it looks ive done it in sims and so have thousands of other people the real hard part is getting in that F-22 seat to begin with but if anything right now is the best time to do it, huge pilot shortage and officer shortage as well as increase in jet inventory with the F-35 couldnt be a better time to fly a bird

    The vids like, wow we are restoring a F4U

    Nice to see an FM-2 painted and marked as an actual FM-2.

    Fun fact: even though the f4f was completely outclassed by the hellcat, it continued to be produced in respectable numbers only because the navy had in it's fleet several small "pocket" aircraft carriers.

    I laughed at Dennis. His installation was for the camera and the piston was missing rings

      Also fitted the spark plug and lead without bolting cylinder to crankcase!

    The Wildcat was the first American-designed plane to shoot down a German plane? Wow, didn't know that. But hey, a Grumman Hellcat was the last plane to shoot down an Me 109 in WW2.

    I turned it off after about 20 seconds... the producers can't even tell an F4F from an F6F.

      Did I miss something because I watched this video a few times and did not see a F6F. The plane they were working on was a Wild cat.

    • @christianjensen5523

      @@fredflintstone5860 Yes... right off the bat - @ 8 seconds shows two F6Fs as the narrator says 'In the wars early days, it (the F4F) was the only plane in the pacific theater inflicting.. etc etc...". This kind of evening-news style filmmaking indicates a preference for entertainment over accuracy, and for me the enjoyment and intrigue in projects like this (and most other things) is in the details.

      @@christianjensen5523 Thanks for pointing that out. The lead aircraft appears to be a hellcat but the one on his starboard side could be a wildcat. Look at the fuselage near where the wing meets behind the cowl, I think I see the tires from the landing gear. The wheels on the hellcat tuck into the wing where you can't see them. But then again I can't see sh*t as good as I used to.

    Why are here so many lies? The Wildcat was not the first plane with folding wings. Others have been there and done that. Or is this only another America= Inventors of fire and wheel - movie?

    • @nursesteve2004
      @nursesteve2004 2 года назад

      it was not the first plane with folding wings, but it was (at least the F4F-4 was) the first plane with folding wings that folded to the sides, which was a distinctly Grumman innovation
