Yeah, if anything, it should be the other way around! That would explain why Boo's room wasn't CRAWLING WITH POLICE when they tried to bring her back; because in the human world it had only been a few hours, short enough that her parents thought she was just still sleeping, but in the monster world it was a few days.

i always thought the perfect sequel would be set a few years after the first where boo and sully have still been visiting each other and boo frequently visits the monster world in disguise, she even babysits for Cecilia and Mike's monster toddlers. The story would become sully having to grapple with the fact that a kids monster should only be a temporary thing in childhood, and hanging on to his relationship with Boo was in fact stunting her growth, in that its revealed that she is actually scared of the real world, and she is using her escapism with sully in the monsters world to avoid making friends, maturing and participating in her own world. I could see a few scenes where sully decides to accompany boo out into her own world to encourage her, and mike, outraged follows with Cecilia follow in pursuit. during the real world excursion, boo is forced to distract a bunch of girls from her school to allow sully to escape detection, she rambles about the monster world and the girls initially mock her, but the interaction is cut short. the final scene is sully deciding he should destroy boos door to avoid her giving up entirely on the real world. He goes to visit one more time, and is met with a sleepover, where boo and a dozen of her friends are sleeping soundly. he looks around the room and sees that boo has been drawing and writing comics about the monster world and apparently the girls he thought were mocking Boo were in fact intrigued and wanted to be friends with the "weird" girl. the end would be sully 'retiring' boo's door, not destroying it, and Boo instead leaving editions of her latest comics for sully under the wardrobe door

I listened to a podcast with the writers of Lost in Scare-dise, and one detail missing here is that they revealed why Mike is upset is that he has to make it back to his wedding with Cecila. It's a ticking clock that keeps the story moving as they try to find a way back, which would be revealed to be ironic given the twist ending.
They mentioned that the execs at Circle 7 were blown away and said it was the one of the best pitch sessions they've had in their entire life. They were so well received that they were placed onto the struggling Toy Story 3 in order to fix that after the disastrous draft from Hertzfeld. So in that time they were story leads on two simultaneous Circle 7 projects with TS3 taking priority. They said they were actually pleased with their version of the film as they fixed it and that the daycare scene actually ended up being very close to the one used in the 2010 film. Sadly (?) Circle 7 folded very quickly and shortly afterwards when Pixar was purchased by Disney in 2006.
If you guys want to listen to it it's part of Jim Hill's Fine Tooning podcast on his Jim Hill Media podcast feed from last year.

This leads Sully and Mike to have to act as ambassadors of the monster world to go to the human world and delegate with the humans to let them keep using children's laugh energy.
I had some other ideas in mind, like Sully and Mike meeting a teenage Boo who's now a bit of an outcast who feels like she doesn't belong with humans, a rival energy company called 'Scare Enterprises' who wants to convert back to scare energy, and the monsters being offended by the human world's horror movies because they're mostly gory rather than scary.

Bruh, imagine what that time shift thing does for the first movie? Like, that had Boo for what? 3 days? That means in the real world weeks even maybe Months could’ve gone by, and SUDDENLY boo just appears back in her bed one night. Or- when they’re banished to the Himalayas, and Sulley gets back... that could’ve been less than 5 or 10 minutes in Monster time.

  • @NotASpyReally

I love the premise that they get stuck on the human world, but the concept of time going faster in there directly contradicts the first movie:
    - In the first movie, they assign monsters to specific kids, who scare them multiple times. For example, Randall was Boo's monster. If the kids really grew so fast, that wouldn't be a thing.
    - Sully and Mike would already know about this since they already visited Boo in her room at the end of the first movie, after she was in there for a while.
    - The Yeti would already be dead because he was banished a while ago. (Unless he lives a very long time)
    - Also just... everytime a monster comes into a room to scare a child, they close the door behind them! And doesn't come out for some minutes. It simply doesn't work like that.
As I said, I would still love a story with them being in the human world, but the ending couldn't be this.

Film Theory had a theory that pretty much said that Monster Inc is based in a far future (far past Wall-E) where humans had evolved into monsters.
So, the monster in Monster Inc basically have access to time travel, which makes sense with the part where Sully and Mike see Boo when she's older.

Honestly, of the three scrapped Pixar sequels, this one's the one I really want to see actually made someday. Even with the extremely scarce information about it, the whole concept of Sulley and Mike going into the human world to find Boo sounds way more interesting than the bootleg college movie (that creates a bunch of continuity errors just by existing) we got with MU.

Unfortunately, the voice actor and comedian who provided the voice of many popular Disney and Pixar characters, passed away two years ago.

22 at the end of the first film, like you'd hear a mature voice.
but seems a bit too dark to make boo old and dying. Kids dont need to be reminded
in a entertainment movie that they're going to die. The march of time will do that fine
without someone beating you over the head with it and calling it "art" XD

Wait, this creates a really big problem in the first movie; a lot of people have pointed out how Boo was gone from home for about a day, which of course would make her parents worried, especially when she just reappears out of nowhere. However, if this movie was going to retcon that time moves faster in the human world (how old does that make the Abominable Snowman if he had gotten exiled long enough ago to be a cautionary tale????), that means Boo was missing for much longer in the human world, creating some really horrible implications, and making the issue of the parents apparently not contacting the police about their missing daughter (due to a lack of police tape or similar evidence that police had been there to investigate)

The time thing creates many issues, especially as the kids have designated monsters and it would mean that Boo's family would have been very distraught as the new plot RipVanWinkles her days in the monster land into years.
Plus considering how young she was, did they have to start scaring her as an infant for Randall to be established so much as her monster?
With the concerns about children bejng less and less scarable and for less time, it would be odd for that not to be mentioned with that huge amount of details about the shortage.
The reveal sounds sweet, but it gadnt been worked out enough yet and I'm not sure if they could've kept it without really dragging out the search for her.
Finding a scrapbook with her life memories going back to a collecfion of old art of Scully would be a good touch. They could even use it as foreshadowing in the last third of the movie. Thinking that the drawings were just left behind or thinking that it's a relative and scampering through the house revealing and realizing that they're simply in her old house with that old lady again.

(Spoilers if you're going through the comments)
When you said the old lady was Boo, my heart broke. I was thinking if they ever did a real sequel, at worst-since we had no idea how much time had passed since she left-Boo was going to be a full on adult with a daughter that looked just like her. But that idea is just so...heart-wrenching!! I'm thankful this idea never got off the ground then. Monsters Inc isn't my favorite pixar movie, but I have a special place in my heart for it because it was one of the last good movies I remember seeing with my mom before things went downhill for her. (She's still technically around, but has dementia at 65 due to a long bout with severe MS. She also had bad taste in movies, tbh, sans Monsters inc and a few others.) So...yeah. Good video, but really sad.

  • @dragon_slayer2026

I could actually see a good Monsters Inc. movie being made. Personally, I'd set it years later. Boo (given a real name, but still going by the nickname) is grown up, and meeting with Sully now and again through a door hidden somewhere.
Turns out she's been studying theoretical physics, trying to reverse-engineer the Door technology. While she genuinely enjoys their visits with Sully, she's also taking readings from the door (setting the stage for a "liar revealed" moment). She wants to bring the human and monster worlds together. Throw in some shady humans who want to exploit this, and an anti-human group in the Monster world who fear humans (more for their tech than the "poison" myth) and want less reliance on humans and you have your antagonists.
Monster and human clash, and eventually Sully and Boo manage to stop the antagonists, and start to really bring the worlds together.
That's the way I'd go, anyway.

    • @jaschabull2365
      @jaschabull2365 4 года назад

I always wondered whether or not the monsters could've benefitted from making a pact with the humans. Like, instead of meeting the children one by one and trying their best to get energy out of them, they could have doors applied to theatres where comedy performances happen, and get guffaws by the crowdful, giving the humans involved a cut of the produced energy for their trouble. Or, heck, even setting up a door near an amusement park ride and get a good amount of human screams. That would definitely increase energy output, but of course, it might come with the cost of greater monster unemployment. Perhaps a few jobs in engineering might be made to help convert human technology to be able to run off human-generated energy, but humans are pretty resourceful, and could probably do some of that themselves. Not to mention, humans being humans, very well might try to manipulate such a deal to disproportionately benefit them. It does seem risky, but perhaps potentially rewarding?
I wonder if Boo would be aware of what a can of worms she stands to open...

I always kind of figured the doors were like an inter-time lock when activated, because how else would the parents not hear the monsters or their kids screaming bloody murder or how the monsters calmly exit the room without the parents bursting in and seeing them first? Especially with the prequel in mind, the adults could see Mike and Sulley.
I always assumed triggers for what would cause the inter time warp to falter would be touching things in the other dimension. They’re not apart of yours and you’re not apart of theirs, kinda like when people would go back in time and mess with one thing and cause a domino effect, touching kids toys or items would cause a ripple. (Scratching the bedpost or sweeping the drapes wouldn’t be heard behind a shut bedroom door, so obviously some ripples they work with) Screams are what’s needed to be harnessed so if the kid cries, it also causes a ripple since the canister isn’t absorbing the sound and alerts the parents.
That used to be my weird overthought out theory of MI 😅

  • @xAngelsOfHellx
    @xAngelsOfHellx 2 года назад

If time moves faster in the human world, then it raises a million questions about the first movie. If 1 year in the Monster world makes Boo go from like 2 years old to fricking 100, then the time she's missing in the monster world as a child would make all of her parents and family be at least one year older or more (judging by the time movement logic, 1 week in the monster world would be approximately 2 years in human time and Boo spent at least a few days in the Monster World.)
She would have been labelled missing, family life would be completely different and she quite possibly could have been returned to a house no longer occupied by her family. After having a child go missing at such a young age with no explanation, it would stand to reason her family would leave that house to escape the bad memory associated with it.

I will admit that for the longest time, I've considered Monsters University to be the worst Pixar movie. Hell it's still probably my least favorite Pixar movie. That's likely because I loved the original so much. Watternoose is the best twist villain, Mike and Sully have a great dynamic, that one scene with the white sock is great, and with all that in mind, I would love to see Lost in Scareidise. Mike and Sully trying to disguise themselves has great comedic potential and that last scene has a good chance at making me cry

*So, Mike and Sulley are running their business. One day, one of their employees goes missing, say Mike and Sulley’s close friend. He was last seen going into some door to the human world. Sully goes after him, only for him to be kidnapped and also go missing. Turns out he was captured by the military. He gets taken to Area 51, where they have stored many of the missing monsters of Monstropolis (and for some reason, the Abominable Snowman is there too). Mike gets worried. He goes in with some other monster. The other monster gets captured, but Mike survives. And so he plans to devise an Area 51 Raid with all the other monsters to free their friends. Mike reinvigorates the scary instincts of his friends and employees so that they could once again scare the humans. They are all successful, the monsters are freed, and they all return to Monstropolis. The end.*
The title will be: *Monsters Area*
