- It’s a dream of every drummer on this planet to play songs recorded with Jeff Porcaro or Simon Phillips - I am no exception here. Small wonder Toto are among my all-time favourite bands!
This is Stop Loving You from their 1988 album “The Seventh One”, originally with Jeff Porcaro on drums, in the 2013 live version with Simon Philipps.
See how you like my interpretation and go for it!
Drums and film footage recorded in one take.

Is your name Martin Elias by any chance?🙃
It actually isn't, no haha :)
@@Eliasrocks Oh hahah, never mind then. Nice playing btw, especially the open-handed Simons stuff!
@@dirkbuning8146 Sorry to disappoint you there haha. Thanks a lot, really happy to hear that!
@@Eliasrocks Hahah doesnt matter, are you also in a band which I can follow maybe?
Yeah, sure, if you want to, check out my channel information (or whatever it's called); there you will find a link to my band's website 😊 On Instagram you'll find us under @enfys.band
You loose the beat, you must be loose the rythm...miss you Jeff...long time no groove🙏🙏😁
?
no no no.....its not like jeff....jeff played it much easier.....and thats the reason why he was soooooooo good. i always wonder why cover-drummer wanna show "how good they are"....and so 95% doesnt fit to the song....like in this case. its just toooooo much drumming.
... ever considered it might not be about showing "how good I am" - but about playing it my way? Fair enough you don't like it. This version here is actually pretty close to Simon Phillips's live drumming back in 2013 ...
This is about how Simon Phillips (also one of the legends of drumming imo) interpreted this song, different style than Jeff still very good. And Elias nailed it in my opinion!
@@thisusedtobemyrealname7876absolutely, great job done by Elias. Let’s see how the other guy would sound like 😏
Why? Because if it was played straight from begin to end with no fills it would be boring and get 0 views… but thanks to angry people complaining about this the video gets more feedback and the youtube algorithm make it more popular. So thank you sir 🙏😊
I think not like Jeff is precisely the point - I'm nearly positive he was going more for a Simon Phillips live version, which he very much nailed but still put his own mark on it! As a drummer, to be ambidextrous - amazing!!! As drummers, we all have our own unique finger/hand/foot - print. I think it would be kinda boring if we all played the same. Celebrate drummer diversity! Rock on dudes!!!🤘
