As an African who grew up in a sunny country (365 days of sunshine in a year), I am finding it very hard to live without the sun. My mood returned to normal today after getting a satisfactory sunbath after almost 6 months of no sunshine....i was gonna get crazy!

Live in northern Finland and you feel what it's like to not see the sun most of the time. During mid winter the sun barely gets above the horizon for 2 hours, you are lucky to see it if it's not cloudy. Not that you'd want to go out to see the sun nor would you want to expose your skin to the sunlight anyways, when it's not uncommon to have -40 degrees celcius (or fahrenheit, funnily these two units are the same at -40) temperatures or sometimes even worse. You'll freeze to death in minutes without your super thick clothing. My survival strategy is to just stay inside.
After you get deeply depressed for not seeing the sun most of the winter, you'll welcome the couple months of summer with open arms. Summer is fantastic in Lapland, until you notice you cannot sleep anymore, because now instead of constant darkness, it's constant sunlight. You wake up at middle of night confused, not knowing if it's still night or not unless you check the time.

Well duh. Because most people nowadays are too busy on games and phones to be outside. You can't even be an indoor person when your older and half to go to work everyday

I avoid the sun like a vampire because direct sunlight literally hurts. If you can imagine feeling like you have all exposed areas being blasted by a torch, yet somehow you don't actually burn, this is me. I've never had a proper sunburn due to my habit of staying in the shade, excessive sunscreen use, and keeping my ventures outside to early morning or late evening/night. Add to this, my eyes being very sensitive to bright lights, and I almost never let the sunlight touch my skin unless I have no choice. The main exception is around the winter solstice when the sunlight doesn't feel so painful. I've always been like this. Even as a child I would avoid sunlight like a vampire. Despite it all, I'm not all that pale.
I'm the same way as you, except I have pale skin and have gotten way too many sunburns to count. I'm lucky if I can even get a tan because I usually just burn and sometimes get new freckles. Unfortunately, I live somewhere that's hot and miserable almost all year round, which makes being a vampire a living hell for me. I'm hoping I can move somewhere that's constantly cloudy and gloomy when I'm an adult since I find that clouds, rain, wind, and snow make me happy. Sunny days usually make me angry.

James Roberts nope, I actually have tinnitus and can hear noises in my ear 24/7, not ringing noises either.
They call it tinnitus, which is defined as a ringing in the ear that's associated with hearing loss or exposure to loud noises. But I personally have heard a very high pitched tone in my ear as far back as I can remember. It's very faint, and you tend to hear it only in a quiet environment. At that point it's seems relatively loud, but it yields in the presence of any other sound around.
I think I remember reading something about it being the sound of the neurons close enough to your eardrums to make an impact. I've had ringing in my ears from being around loud music too long (tinnitus), and that ringing is louder than the one I'm describing. Usually the tinnitus goes away after a time, but as for the other high pitched ring, it's always there; you just don't notice it unless the place is quiet. I'm wondering if this is the one you're talking about, or tinnitus.

Live the winter in Northern Europe, your skin will recover, but when it’s summer again yeah you’re gonna be tanned again unless you avoid the sun but vitamin d blablabla, take supplements, not as good as sunlight blablabla, then only go out when the uv index is 2 and get vitamin d but no tan
