IGBOS OUTSIDE THE SOUTH EAST ARE ENTITLED TO NIGERIA’S PRESIDENCY - CHIKE OGEAH

  • As indigenes of the five southeast states pursue their quest for the emergence of a Nigerian president of Igbo origin in 2023, they have been accused of shutting the doors against other Igbo subgroups, chiefly from the south-south geopolitical zone.
According to indigenes of #Anioma, #Ikwerre, #Etche, #Ibani, #Ukwani and #Ika stock, they share the same socio-cultural systems, language and ancestry with their brethren in the five southeast states.
They are also contending that it will be undemocratic to subvert the rights of Igbos who are not domiciled in the southeast for the quest for an Igbo president, come 2023.
#ChikeOgeah, Managing Director of #McfollyHospitality Limited and former Commissioner for Information in #DeltaState, discusses the push for a Nigerian president of Igbo origin and the views expressed by the Igbo subgroups, which have often been accused by southeasterners of only identifying with them when it is expedient.

No Igbo is more Igbo than others,no matter geopolitical zone. I love this my brother Dr. Chike Ogeah who is from Anioma Oshimmiri of Delta state. I sincerely wish to join my voice in saying that there is nothing like the mainstream Igbo.
And let me also said Igbo people are well united and together in seeking for the Nigeria President come 2023.

You are right ,no Igbo is more Igbo than others . However ,it is the Igbos from the Rivers ,Delta’s especially from Ndokwa that they are saying that they are not Igbos . They said that they are Ndokwa and those of them that are from the Rivers, said they are Ikwere. Check the list of tribes in Nigeria before the Civil war if there is anything like Ikwere or Ndokwa as tribes . There was nothing like that . Immediately after or during the war ,in order to reduce the population of Igbo ,the Fulanis deceived them that they are not Igbos and they bought into it . In Port Harcourt all the houses belonging to Igbos were seized and call abandon properties by the Ikweres . Tribes are identified by the language they speak . Weather Ikwere ,Aniona , Ndokwa etc are all Igbos but with different dialects. Other Igbos from SE can understand Ikwere, Ndokwa more than Owerri dialect ,yet Owerris have not denied that they are not Igbo. So if they exclude themselves from being Igbos there is nothings anyone can do about it . Yorubas have different dialects but they remain Yoruba .Igbos from the SE have suffered in Nigeria but I know one day it would be over .

Some people are unnecessarily fearful of others. For those afraid of an Igbo president, I will advise them to relax. The average Igbo person is progressive and least inclined to play tribal politics. However, when it comes to the presidency, I would rather have a competent non Igbo person than the wrong Igbo man or woman. The problem with Nigeria is that already there are people that are not Igbo canvassing for Igbo candidates for their own ulterior motives. Mr Chike you are an Igbo man for real no doubt, this is what Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been preaching we cannot abandon our own brothers and sisters to the evil of divide and rule. Onye aghala nwanne ya. One love!
