    I am sorry for the overall negative nature of this video. I try to keep my channel focused on the more positive aspects of the hobby, but I saw my opening to make a video on this and decided to speak my mind.

    I remember when they would purposely break discs in half & then padlock their dumpsters so nobody could fish out perfectly good controllers. Hate this company.

      GameStop used to be so rude to strained discs throwing them in the trash throwing consoles in the trash but you're kind of stuck because that's like the only thing where you can buy games broken disc scratching the discs throwing them in the garbage

      @@Sersumi I would take a trip and make a video! Not only do they have retro games, but they also have used computers and laptops, raspberry Pi's and everything, I think they also started online auctions as well. Take care my friend!

    Honestly though, I'm surprised it took them this long to change things. We'll see what happens, if this fails then that could spring something even better.

    Gamestop was a nice source for a long time but alas, the jig is up. I remember around this time last year the app and website was down for a while and you couldn't search any retro titles. That's probably when they began reassessing pricing. My first indication was when it came back up spiderman shattered dimensions went from $19.99 to $39.99.

    I’m concerned about the fakes games and lack of authenticating. Games aren’t tested or inspected well enough in my area. I already found and bought a fake Pokemon game at mine.

    I used to go to my local GameStop every week for retro games. Now they moved all their retro games to a retro store outside my area. I have now have almost zero reason to go to GameStop.

    They actually do take in PSP stuff and games not explicitly listed on the "trade value" section on the website. Likely because they never bothered updating it because of how rarely they even get some games. Tried to trade in a loose copy of Infinite Space ds (super beat up) and they offered 14$ for it. I have no idea how much they would've offered or what they sell it at on the website but in-store they told me trade value is 14$ and they sell for 29.99$ Though they wouldn't take it because the ESRB logo was pretty much gone from the wear.

    • @Sersumi
      @Sersumi  Месяц назад +1

      That’s great to know 😅
      I assumed it to be true because I have never seen any psp games in my stores, or anyone else’s for that matter.

    To be fair, people who have higher end games that are toast and can't off load them anywhere with any sense will dump them at gamestop. I also saw the scam where people were putting high end repro game labels on madden cartridges.

    GameStop is a business first and foremost. If I ran a business, I would not target collectors for the simple reason, you guys are hunting bargains, and you're used to flea-market prices. I would target the now maturing audience of 40-50's who remember their childhood fondly. There's a reason you see so many new retro-game consoles, it's a huge market worth exploiting. These people don't want to collect, they're not bargain hunting for the best prices, they just want to relive their best childhood moments - you're not their target audience, and they will do well.
