Thanks SDG! Congratulations on your milestone this year and following your dreams with consistent quality content. I’m new to the DG scene this year and your channel is in the bag from here on out. Keep bringing it! Merry Christmas from me and my family.
This is the first disc I ever loved. I had a pearly orange champion beast. It was perfect. It was the first disc I threw from one football upright through the uprights on the far side of the football field.
when i was a child and i'd visit a grandparent i wouldn't talk about my grandparents on the other side of my family out of fear of them finding out about each other. That's what these cross overs videos remind me of.
When you said “when I lose a disc, it’s because I throw it a lot” about the Passion… that’s me and the Crave. My son gives me a hard time because we always spend forever looking for my Craves in the woods and tells me I shouldn’t throw it because I always lose it. But it’s because I throw it on like 80% of my tee shots lol
My list is based off of my own bag as well as watching others play: 1. Polecat 2. KC Aviar 3. Luna 4. Zone 5. Buzzz 6. Leopard 7. Cicada 8. Passion 9. Sexy Firebird 10. Anax 11. Grace 12. Cloudbreaker (4 and 5 specifically) 13. Boss 14. Ballista
This was a fun video and got me thinking too. Tough for a couple of the speeds: Glitch/Dillo (depends on the type of course honestly) Judge Invader Zone Origin Crave F5/FD1 Volt/TL3 CapRap PD DD 2022 Calvin destroyer 2023 Koling Glow Halo Champ Boss/Nuke OS Bohrium
I bag 2 pigs. The stock pig at 4/1/0/3 it’s has a flat top and flys like a 4 speed. I also bag the Rick Wysocki innova pig. The numbers are 3/1/0/3. The top is domed and it doesn’t fly as far. So I think they are different. Try them out for yourself.
Favorite one speed is the Birdie. Bagged that disc for a long time. I love the Anax. Favorite forehand disc. Lost one in DeKalb and immediately had to buy a new one, fortunately the new 6X ones were in stock and on sale.
Early in my disc golf journey I found an old tie dye champion beast. I loved that disc with all my heart until I lost it. I recently bought another beat in champion beast and I although it flies differently now since I can throw an extra 150 feet, it’s still one of my favorite discs of all time
My list... 1: Glitch. It's too fun not to throw. 2: Inner Core is the best 2 speed and you can't convince me otherwise. SO straight and it jives with my putting style too. 3: Envy is the disc here. An argument could be made for the Pure or the Proxy though for a straighter flight overall. 4: Toro is my workhorse utility, but I love throwing the OOP Discmania Fiend (MD2). They need to bring that disc back. I need to throw the Gatekeeper more to see if it will replace the MD2. 5: So many to pick. I'm stuck between Dune, Hex, and Buzzz. Gotta go Dune here for the straight shot. 6: Does the Crave count here at 6.5? I'm counting it. Otherwise I probably have to say Kaxe (since I haven't thrown Kaxe Z). 7: River is my go-to 7 speed (can you tell I like the straight shooters?), but I like the Evader a lot too. 8: Torn on this one. I like the Stag, but I love my Teebird3 for what I know it can do. I hate how the Passion feels in hand. 9: Escape or Hatchet is my initial thought. Escape is a bomber, while the Hatchet is incredible as a turnover driver. However, Felon is my go-to forehand disc, so I have to select it here. 10: Can I skip this speed? Kidding. I like the Sapphire here. Fun disc to bomb or give to a newbie to find their distance shot. Also, is the Anax actually pronounced "Onyx"? Little did I know... 11: Grace. Always the Grace. The Wraith is a good choice too, but the Grace is soooooo smooth. (Great Freudian slip by Robbie at the end) Scorch gets honorable mention 12: A few choices here. Destroyer, Paradigm, and Cloudbreaker (DD3) come to mind. Probably have to go with Destroyer due to the differences in plastics and availability. 13: I need to lean into the Captain and the Bolt more because they're amazing. I'd also like to try out a Sheriff, Raider, and Charger. HOWEVER, the Shryke is my go-to distance driver. It's my bomber disc. 14: Ballista Pro. I couldn't believe that this disc had the flight numbers it did with how I could throw it. I was able to throw it very straight with a predictable fade at the end. Sweet disc.
good shout for the kaxe z. I haven't bagged mine in a little while, but still have it (k1 soft). It was my laser beam hyzer flip disc. They announced the end of production like a week after I bought it lol. I honestly don't know why I took it out. I actually am missing a similar slot for that right now, so thanks for letting me know what I'll be tossing next time I'm on the course.
My list 1. Never tried any 2. Judge 3. Envy 4. Culprit 5. Emac truth 6. Leopard 7. Exodus 8. Phenom 9. Dynasty 10. Roman 11. Wraith 12. Destroyer 13. Tenacity 14. Never tried any
The sting is so good. I throw disscraft and kasta for the most part. The sting and the Stig are interchangeable in my opinion. I bag them both off and on
Love the Anax. The ESP ones start out as reliable flex drivers and beat into turnover bombers with a little finish, and the Big Z ones tend to be quite overstable but still quite glidey.
My absolute favorite disc (that no one ever talks about) when I was starting out was the Lat 64 Musket, 10, 5, -.5, -2. Straight shooter straight out the box, I still use it most every round. I wish 10 speeds got more love, great discs for any player
I find the thrasher to be much more comfortable in the hand for backhand and a touch more understable than the hades. On the other hand the hades works really well for me as a strait to flippy forehand disc and fits in my hand really well.
The Passion is a lot like the Cyclone, and that would be interesting if they did retool the Cyclone as the Passion. The Athena has a very similar shape to the XS, which was the disc that Scott Stokely threw 211 meters. I also want to throw in how similar the Anax is to a Vulture, which Brodie says there is no difference between two discs. And the Zeus is a Destroyer, but maybe a little more consistent. Hades are similar to Shrykes and Terns, but have some serious variations.
I don't have a cannon for an arm and I think my picks would prove that: 1: Glitch 2: P2 3: Arowana (This disc redefined my approach game. Hits the ground stops dead at most you get like 5 ft of slide out of it. Perfect for parking the hole from 100ft away and not worrying about it rolling or sliding right passed the basket.) 4: Shark (I've used this disc since around 2010 I have not found anything to replace it with. Holds any line I put it on and unless I throw nose up has virtually no fade at the end. Straightest flying mid I've ever had since the day I bought it.) 5: Buzzz (also shoutout to the Meteor) 6: Crave 7: River 8: Diamond (I bought one for the first time 3 years ago when I got back into disc golf and it has been a game changer. Easily my most used driver. Hyzer flips for straight shots or hill climbs and Flat turnovers for when I need to go right) 9: Hatchet (was Valkyrie for a very long time then I got and tried the Hatchet and immediately it replaced it) 10: Never really used one. It seems like a slot I would like but for some reason I've had no luck with getting a 10 speed that goes far for me. Beast and Avenger SS had brief stints in my bag. 11: Sail (This works like my distance Diamond. Exact same shots are possible with it but I get a more pronounced fade at the end than I do with the Diamond. I think this is basically an alternate to a lot of people's experience with a Thrasher) 12: Teedevil (My go to distance driver if I need to go far and pretty straight this is it. I cannot throw it in a headwind though it just turns into the ground) 13: Katana (Flies almost the same as my Teedevil except doesn't turn into the ground in a headwind so I use this during a headwind where I want to throw the Teedevil) 14+ Never tried any
Good list guys! You only got it wrong on every speed... and let me tell you why in the folliwing 10 page dissertation... :D Just kidding. Keep it up, you are doing great!
To me the Beast is that PFN Champ Beast I find at a course that some boomer has beat up for ten years and I have to throw it 50% to make it fade 🤭 I'm sure like any Innova disc there's a run of every possible stability of it and one that flew like a Starfire would probably be really nice. Talking about Trilogy discs that don't fly their numbers, every clout-chasing noodle arm should try out the Sorcerer! A disc rated more overstable than a Nuke that a 100 yard thrower can roll 😇
sorry but on the 9 speed slot you can never talk me out of my tesla in proton throw that thing everywhere and 13 speed got my first ace on a forehand 215ft nuke in esp love that thing.
I'm a noob. But I'm saying shryke is my 13 speed. I can't throw destroyers for strong fade. But my star shryke I am getting shaped shots out of already. It's a higher than destroyer but the -2 vs -1 makes it work able for me. And hades is my farthest flying disc right now. I am 6 months in to this so take it or leave it
That Envy is not the same kind that the holy shot was thrown with though is it? Pretty sure thats a 3/3/0/2 Envy, while the holy shot i believe was thrown with a 3/3/-1/2 Envy
29:37 A disc's speed shouldn't be arguably. In most cases the disc's speed is determined by the rim width and should be. How can you determine the other flight numbers if there isn't an standard for speed to base them off of. Why isn't a buzzz an 11/5/-3/-1 If you throw it at top driver speed with a power grip that's how it will fly, yet if you throw it with its intended power (5) it flies like the numbers suggest. How do we know that intended power? The rim width. The raider has a 23 mm rim making it, without question, a 13 speed disc. If we don't have a standard for speed how can you be accurate with the other numbers. If you can change a disc's speed maybe the raider is a 4/2/+1/5 bc that's how it flies when when thrown at 4 speed. Well it wasnt meant to be thrown at 4 speed and the only way we know that is the rim width. Most manufacturers stick to this philosophy most of the time and it should be an unquestioned standard imo.
The speed is just a rating, it's not how far it will fly. It's basically the power rating for the size of the engine of a disc. You drop the same engine in a big truck and a more aero dynamic car, that doesn't change the horsepower of the engine, even though handling and performance of the vehicles will vary.
@pathape correct, it's not how far it will go, but it is supposed to be a representation of how fast the disc should be thrown to make it fly as intended. Its ok for one 12 speed disc to fly further than another at the same release speed. At that point the other numbers tell you why they flew different. If the disc is shorter and way off to the left, it has more fade than the other. If it's just shorter but in the same direction, it has less glide. In no experiment can everything be a variable. You need (at least) 1 constant to base your findings off of. In discs, that constant is the rim width. That tells you how much speed is required for proper flight. Only when thrown at the proper speed can the other 3 numbers be determined.
I live near and play with a top 15ish touring pro on a occasion. He even says 9 and 10 speed discs really fly as far distance drivers for most all pros., The overstable distance driver is just more reliable for long shots where you need get far and left or you can't afford much flip up or turn on a shot. It's hard to throw a 450 foot shot that needs to finish left without an overstable distance driver with consistency. Lower speed discs that go far are too straight for them
@pathape yes, when I disc starts to move slower than it's intended speed it begins to hyzer. When a disc is going faster than its intended speed it tends to flip over. That's why knowing the intended speed is the only way to determine the other numbers. A tee bird will be flying close to 7 speed the whole time and keep straight. A destroyer which is flippier at 12 speed than a teebird is at 7 will still fly way more overstable for most ppl bc they can't throw 12 speed. So it flies like a Firebird when thrown at 7 speed. When a high speed driver slows down it hyzers, when a low speed disc is flying slow it still goes straight.
My favorites that I’ve tried are… 1 Speed: Zephyr (Fun to throw) 2 Speed: Rhyno (No glide and super straight) 3 Speed: Sockibomb Slammer (Probably my most thrown mold on the course, beats in super straight) 4 Speed: Harp (Not super OS but reliable) 5 Speed: Croc (OS Mid with minimal skip and my first ace!) 6 Speed: Squall (Far flying mid and good roller) 7 Speed: Stalker (Super straight) 8 Speed: Banzai (Specifically Proline, has a straight flight with no turn before fading) 9 Speed: Raptor (A bit glidier than the typical meathook 9 speed, but super dependable) 10 Speed: Starfire (Specifically Star, easy full flights and big hyzers) 11 Speed: Wraith (First disc I could throw over 300 ft which is decent for a 13 then yo) 12 Speed: Destroyer (Just dependable) 13 Speed: Nuke (It is versatile and it BOMBS FH/BH) 14 Speed: Torrent (400 ft lasers that never are more than 6 ft off the ground)
I like the envy but I feel like it shouldn't even be a 3-speed. Just like y'all say, it flies as long as a 5-speed and it doesn't really fly like any other non-mvp 3-speed I know. I'd say the pig is as much or maybe even more of a 3-speed than the envy is. If it got upgraded to a 4, I think the envy should too.
Plastic matters, but a regular VIP Northman would be less stable than an Anax. Super straight flier for a little extra distance in these Georgia woods courses. The Orbit Moonshine Northman that I bag is probably more like an Anax stability.
Rocs are trash and always have been. The beat up ones fly like a mako3 but feel like trash. The new ones fly like a buzzz os but feel like trash. Why cycle a disc to get different flights when you can get better feel and flight out of the box from better molds. I will tell you why. You are scared of change. Go buy some used MVP midranges and thank me later. So many wonderful molds now.
I have a aviar from walmart. it was the worst disc ive ever thrown. it was basically frisbee hard plastic and wasnt the same from the base plastics I felt at the disc golf shop.
Love the Nuke, think my rankings would be: 1: Glitch 2: Ohm? don't really have any 2 speeds 3: Envy 4: Entropy 5: Pyro 6: Crave if you count it, otherwise don't have any 7: Teebird 8: Volt 9: Tesla (Insanity is a close 2nd) 10: Don't have any so Beast as its the only one I've probably owned 11: Photon 12: Zeus 13: Nuke
Them talking about the berg like that is enough for me to click off the video, I can understand someone not liking the berg after 2 throws but once you give it a fair trial it can take your upshot game to a whole new level. It's sad how underrated kastaplast is.

Hey thank you so much Nick!! Welcome to the scene! Haha we hope you and your family have a great Christmas!! 🤘🎄
Robbie is so real for bringing up the Beast. It's such a great disc.
Facts. Pro beast is one of the few discs that when I lose it, I'm quick to buy another cause it's a must have.
I wish he wouldn't have said anything.
Halo Beast is my #1 hyzer flip driver: strait & low 150-280 feet.
This is the first disc I ever loved. I had a pearly orange champion beast. It was perfect. It was the first disc I threw from one football upright through the uprights on the far side of the football field.
Love this type of video.
For me:
1. Berg. K3 for approach, K1 soft driving
2. Inner Core (so straight)
3. Deputy (putting)
4. Zone (FH & BH)
5. Fuse (Hyzer flip)
6. Core (long straight mid)

That is the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen in a RUclips comment
I'm so glad Robbie said the Beast. I love that disc and I still throw the first one I purchased back in the day
I knew Robbie would pick the pig twice…gamers gonna game🫡
I mean dude owns 62 of them
Saw it coming a mile away
He has a secret 16 speed pig as his new signature disc 😅

would love to meet robbie too, yall have definitely helped me so much
feels good having quite a few of these discs.
Ive got the: armadillo, envy, pig, zone, crave, had a dune but I gave it to a buddy and love the beast.
This is one of the better/best top lists this channel has done... Next time hang a white sheet over the light source to help diffuse the light :)
Love the Anax. The ESP ones start out as reliable flex drivers and beat into turnover bombers with a little finish, and the Big Z ones tend to be quite overstable but still quite glidey.

I absolutely love the Beast! It has been in my bag for the longest time and it's stayed in my bag in some form or another!
Robbie, you throw a lot of discs that I've never tried. And I like it!

My overstable FD is an Ahti. Stupid stability, great feel, Westside has the coolest discs. What's not to love?
I am equally as dedicated to the Wombat3 as he is to the pig. A champion plastic Wombat3 is a god tier midrange.
1: glitch
2: throwing - inner core putting - bleak
3: envy
4: entropy

11: cataclysm
12: sword
13: shryke
14: havent thrown one
15+: WMD
Thumbs up for the Shryke

Sting is a super easy hyzer flip woods disc. Paired with the Cicada and then the Athena- it's a trio that is tough to beat.
I find the thrasher to be much more comfortable in the hand for backhand and a touch more understable than the hades. On the other hand the hades works really well for me as a strait to flippy forehand disc and fits in my hand really well.
If you like the kaxe z, you should pick up one of the new retooled kaxe and be pleasantly suprised...
Innova gstar 2x p Mac b KRAIT is my favorite disc. proton PYRO and big z vulture are my top 3
Ricky putting with daggers is amazing!!
Where can I find one of those buzzz? Can’t seem to find one anywhere.
Good list. To me the undisputed 12 speed is DD3 and the only correct 4 speed answer is A2
Stay Swanky! Merry Discmas
If your looking for a 4 speed battle, just choose all the zone esk discs.
Axium Tempo
Kastaplast Järn
Clash Mint
Etc.
I think 6 speed that sets itself apart from all other fairways is the Trident. I love my crave but nothing feels or flys like a Trident.
I don't have a cannon for an arm and I think my picks would prove that:
1: Glitch
2: P2
3: Arowana (This disc redefined my approach game. Hits the ground stops dead at most you get like 5 ft of slide out of it. Perfect for parking the hole from 100ft away and not worrying about it rolling or sliding right passed the basket.)
4: Shark (I've used this disc since around 2010 I have not found anything to replace it with. Holds any line I put it on and unless I throw nose up has virtually no fade at the end. Straightest flying mid I've ever had since the day I bought it.)
5: Buzzz (also shoutout to the Meteor)
6: Crave
7: River
8: Diamond (I bought one for the first time 3 years ago when I got back into disc golf and it has been a game changer. Easily my most used driver. Hyzer flips for straight shots or hill climbs and Flat turnovers for when I need to go right)
9: Hatchet (was Valkyrie for a very long time then I got and tried the Hatchet and immediately it replaced it)
10: Never really used one.
I think this is basically an alternate to a lot of people's experience with a Thrasher)
12: Teedevil (My go to distance driver if I need to go far and pretty straight this is it. I cannot throw it in a headwind though it just turns into the ground)
13: Katana (Flies almost the same as my Teedevil except doesn't turn into the ground in a headwind so I use this during a headwind where I want to throw the Teedevil)
14+ Never tried any
A Pro Beast is so good, I've lost about 3 of them and i quickly get back on ebay and scoop another up. Cheap, and just great easy distance.
gave my champion beast to my best friend for his birthday ... it's his favourite disk now good use i'd say
Speed 1 Pole Cat
Speed 2 Agent
Speed 3 Envy
Speed 4 Anvil
Speed 5 Hex
Speed 6 Leopard
Speed 7 Explorer
Speed 8 Stag
Speed 9 Felon
Speed 10 Musket
Speed 11 Grace
Speed 12 Destroyer
Speed 13 Raider
Good list guys! You only got it wrong on every speed... and let me tell you why in the folliwing 10 page dissertation... :D Just kidding. Keep it up, you are doing great!
use a super stingray as your 4 speed
Essence for 8 speed a must have
Yall. Geez. 3 slammer 6 stig. Just try em. Guaranteed you'll love em. Others are good picks
I am 6 months in to this so take it or leave it
Looks like you need to send me a blue grace and I need to send you a black wizard Robbie.
That Envy is not the same kind that the holy shot was thrown with though is it? Pretty sure thats a 3/3/0/2 Envy, while the holy shot i believe was thrown with a 3/3/-1/2 Envy
Merry Discmas!
We all know that the Glitch is the best 1 speed. As long as there’s no wind
Keystone is us mortals dagger.
The Beast is so good. I own many 😂
Pig is definitely a 4 speed but if u power down it might be a 3 speed but I knew he would pick a pig twice
Best 6 speed is Discraft Zombee. Kaze Z is good tho
They've retooled the Kaxe to be the Kaxe Z. Grieve no more.
Kind of sad no one could name a 10 speed disc. My metal flake Orc has been one of my favorite discs in my bag.
My favorites that I’ve tried are…
1 Speed: Zephyr (Fun to throw)
2 Speed: Rhyno (No glide and super straight)
3 Speed: Sockibomb Slammer (Probably my most thrown mold on the course, beats in super straight)
4 Speed: Harp (Not super OS but reliable)
5 Speed: Croc (OS Mid with minimal skip and my first ace!)
6 Speed: Squall (Far flying mid and good roller)
7 Speed: Stalker (Super straight)
8 Speed: Banzai (Specifically Proline, has a straight flight with no turn before fading)
9 Speed: Raptor (A bit glidier than the typical meathook 9 speed, but super dependable)
10 Speed: Starfire (Specifically Star, easy full flights and big hyzers)
11 Speed: Wraith (First disc I could throw over 300 ft which is decent for a 13 then yo)
12 Speed: Destroyer (Just dependable)
13 Speed: Nuke (It is versatile and it BOMBS FH/BH)
14 Speed: Torrent (400 ft lasers that never are more than 6 ft off the ground)
The Pig is actually faster than a 3 speed. Especially the R Pro plastic
Raider is goated
jarn vs zone
The Thrasher is much more comparable to a star tern.
I wanna say a Pyro is 4 speed but it has more glide then my zone
I like the envy but I feel like it shouldn't even be a 3-speed. Just like y'all say, it flies as long as a 5-speed and it doesn't really fly like any other non-mvp 3-speed I know.
I'd say the pig is as much or maybe even more of a 3-speed than the envy is. If it got upgraded to a 4, I think the envy should too.
Everyone should try a Westside Northman at 10 speed
How stable is the Northman compared to like your typical Anax?
Plastic matters, but a regular VIP Northman would be less stable than an Anax. Super straight flier for a little extra distance in these Georgia woods courses. The Orbit Moonshine Northman that I bag is probably more like an Anax stability.
4 speed to beat the zone? Roc… you’re welcome👍
The Hex really should have a 0 turn rating. Especially max weight in most plastics. More torque resitance than the average buzzz.
Clash mint or jarn vs zone
Terminal velocity Ursas vs zone os
Love the Nuke, think my rankings would be:
1: Glitch
2: Ohm? don't really have any 2 speeds
3: Envy
4: Entropy
5: Pyro
6: Crave if you count it, otherwise don't have any
7: Teebird
8: Volt
9: Tesla (Insanity is a close 2nd)
10: Don't have any so Beast as its the only one I've probably owned
11: Photon
12: Zeus
13: Nuke
Wraith, Wraith, Wraith...no matter what else I try, "why didn't I just throw the Wraith"...
Zone vs harp
Prodigy A3 vs ZONE
A buzz doesn't hold a candle to an emac truth
Raiders are great discs.
Xpress
Horny toad by lone star is amazingly like the zone in flight.
Toro > pig > zone.
Them talking about the berg like that is enough for me to click off the video, I can understand someone not liking the berg after 2 throws but once you give it a fair trial it can take your upshot game to a whole new level. It's sad how underrated kastaplast is.
