I played the Ultima series with my Brother growing up. We were in the Beta launch of UO and played for 20+ years... He passed away in 2021. This music is so sorrowful but also bring so many memories that I will cherish forever. I did not know it had lyrics till now. Thank you for sharing.
Makes me remember being like 12 or 13 years old, and opening UO Charter Edition the day it released. I missed the beta, but certainly was one of the first players. Remember all the overspawn glitches? I remember seeing like a hundred giant scorpions in Despise
Love it when this actually gets properly sung. Iolo would be proud. This song wasn't originally written for Ultima. It's actually about our real life Stone Henge.
All singing props to @Ariadna Laddy! Wish he would hear this version. I'd be humbled:) After listening to it for many years, I learned of the lyrincs in a very weird and random way, and then the origin of it. But for me, it's hard to not mention Ultima when this song is played:) Your comments are much appreciated. We thank you!
@@SchardtCinematic Both Lord British and the Avatar were transported to the world of Ultima via a moongate in a circle of standing stones. It is implied that this was Stonehenge.
Hey! Thank you so much! The vocal glory goes to @Ariadna Laddy:) We are very glad you like it. I wish they would have a chance to listen to it. I'd be very interested (and overly excited) to hear their opinions.
why do I find my self in emotional troubled waters every time I listen to this song I have never played Ultima perhaps my very soul is of the old folk that once lived there
Cool rendition... as a LIFELONG Ultima franchise fan, I am not sure if this works well with Ultima lore (referencing a real-world place, Wiltshire, but adding words to a song about a fictional land of Britannia [formerly Sosaria]). Again, a beautiful tribute, but my uber-nerd Ultima fanboy'ism is coming out. It's an involuntary reflex. Has Richard Garriott seen/heard this?
Hey there! Thank you for opening this topic:) To be honest, until very recently, I had no idea that this piece had lyrics. I always listened to these pieces thanks to my friends, since around 2003,and never once thought it would have lyrics. Then few months ago when I decided to make arrangements for UO after years of considering it, I realized that there is something interesting goin on with the phrasing of the melody.. Almost something like a vocal music. I decided to make a google search just to make sure it has no lyrics. WUT?? STONES HAS LYRICS?? apparently it has. According to the information I found, when Dawid Watson composed this music, it was actually for the Stonehenge, with lyrics from Kathleen Jones. Then it was used in Ultima 5. Then it became the main theme of Ultima Online. So imagine my surprise as I was reading the lyrics: -hey isn't this a real place name?? -hey this is almost like a stonehenge for Britain.. -what?? It was actually for Stonehenge?? So yes, felt weird for me for a while, then I absolutely enjoyed it. I don't really know if Lord British already heard about our version, but I would absolutely love to hear his opinion. I am slightly afraid of David Watson hearing it :D I really appreciate your comment!

Beautiful song. We are making podcast on travelling and would like to ask for your permission to use this song in the podcast title. Would you allow us?
As far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong), it was used in 2 Ultima games. Second being Ultima Online (without the lyrics) and first in a previous Ultima game, where you are taught this song by the court Bard.
