'KARMA' is a series that depicts the Agraharam way of life of the thirties. Shot in actual location at Konerirajapuram Agraharam situated 22 kms from Kumbakonam.
This is a fictional story that captures the life and times of Somasekara Ganapadigal and his joint family.
How the family disintegrates because of the judgement given by Somasekara Ganapadigal against a priest Sankara Sastrigal forms the crux of the story.

Correct .same doubt for me also. Any way my mother in law 90 years used to climb in the steps of duplex house very slowly. Very pathetic .because of her we are planning to sell that house very soon.

Hello Sir,
Being a watcher of karma from the beginning and following it till now. The episodes are very fantastic making us getting connected to the story.
However, I have a small doubt. Earlier in Karma 1 episode 75 , you have shown us a family tree picture wherein avayam and seshu's children are given as neeraja and ramkumar. But here in this episode, avayam and seshu's children are told as Kamala and srinivasan .
Can you please let us know if that was typo or were those alias names?

Whereas all elders are there in the family, would they have not thought of how to deal with Santhanam’s problem? Undue preivilege taken by Rukku, those days, were ladies of families allowed to give suggestions like that?
That is the unique nature of this particular family portrayed. A forward thinking mindset where Ganapadigal gave equal opportunity for everyone to express their opinions irrespective of their age (கட்டுப்பாடான சுதந்திரம்). Besides Rukku has already established herself as a person wisened beyond her age in the previous episodes. She has grown from a revenge seeking person into a soul seeking to move forward

It is a cruel joke that Rukku is concerned about Ganapadigal as her crooked mindedness has been the root cause for the family's sufferings. When Ganapadigal accepted her as daughter in law with magnanimity, she should have forgotten the past and lived in amity with family members. I know it is all a story only but no one should take to such crooked minded ways in a family. At some point I stopped watching this serial as I felt Rukku's nefarious ways to ruin the family shall bring negative impressions in my mind.
Who the Ganapadikal togive punishment toRukkus father?
I’ll tell you why it’s not. I too used to dislike this serial because of the hate in Rukku’s character. But the fact that she realised her mistake is beautifully shown in the course of the episodes with Periyava gracing their house. The fact that she had the courage to apologise to the family about it shows she came clean. It’s not easy for anyone to speak openly about their evil intentions and apologies for it. Penance and repentance are great qualities for us and I like that the serial speaks about scope for humans to correct themselves through realisation.
I too felt initially angry with her when she tells in the last episode(74 th) that in yesteryears good health and righteous mind made one healthy whereas she did not have righteous mind and split the family.But this was when she was I her early teens and lost her only relation,her father,because of Ganapadigal's error of judgment.But this should not be the reason for not seeing the fine stand-out serial since you cannot expect the creator of the series to see through your thoughts.
All families have a character like Rukku and Awayam.!!! Eldest "nathanar" will hold the reigns of the family and guide daughters in law teaching their family tradition.sometimes youngest daughter in law will creat misunderstandings like Rukku.!!!!
Probably... Madam you are more blessed one that in your family, you have not seen anyone in your relations either in the past or in the present generation !! But unfortunately, in this generation itself i know such daughters-in-law who tried and successfully split the family!! It's painful..truly very painful

Ramkumar was Avayam's son in law and not son as described by her granddaughter Svayam of the 4th generation.She had said her mother was Kamala only, the small girl shown in 1932-35 period.

Sundar raman's acting looks very artificial.
Compared to his superb previous role of elder Sundraraman, this one as professor Sundararaman is very ordinary.But then he had to do many jobs as creator,director etc.
and his voice is so squekky.. keetchu keetchu inu irukku,,, romba irritating and over acting,,
BC sir is multi talented. 👏👏
Rukku herself is responsible for Santhanams shifting to Chennai and driven to the present state. She should boldly admit it to all.
