Thanks for this video Chris. Good stuff. Being there is my favorite Wilco album and the cover is simplistic perfection. Definitely a time and place album for me. I just moved to SF around the time this came out. Saw them on this tour at the Fillmore with Bettie Serveert. Amazing show. Amazing night.

A great video, Chris and great selections. My favorite album cover is Darkness On The Edge Of Town. It was my first Springsteen album and the look on Bruce’s face on it just drew me in and my love of Springsteen has continued unabated since. Also, thank you Chris, for turning me into a Wilco head. I always knew about them but your passion is what made me take the deep dive. I haven’t looked back since and the joy they’ve brought me is immeasurable.

My Deluxe "Tim" arrived yesterday as well. Listened to the whole thing while working today. Which meant I heard a lot of versions of 'Can't Hardly Wait' today. I do really enjoy the new mix, although it is going to take some time for my ears to adjust to it. I get why folks bag on the sound of the original release version of "Tim", but I've just gotten so used to it over the years. To my ears, that is how all of those classic songs sound. The live set in the collection is a lot of fun too.
As far as classic album covers, here are ten that immediately came to mind, in no particular order:
    Scott Walker - "Scott 3"
    Neko Case - "Blacklisted"
    Sparks - "Propaganda"
    The Clash - "London Calling"
Betty Davis - "They Say I'm Different"
Townes Van Zandt - "Live at the Old Quarter"
    The Band - "The Band"
PJ Harvey - "To Bring You My Love"
The Flying Burrito Bros - "The Gilded Palace of Sin"
    Miles Davis - "Bitches Brew"
And I'd add Willie Nelson's "Spirit" as my honorable mention.

My copy of TIM is being delivered tomorrow. I am so excited! This is possibly my favorite album of all time. I was going to stream it today but I am going to wait until tomorrow to listen to the real thing.

It's really incredible. Maybe the best reissue ever, no joke. It's just tremendous. Can't wait to listen to the live show today.

Hi There, just compiled a list of some of my favourite album covers. I thought I would share if that’s cool.
Husker Du - New Day Rising
    Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist
    Oliver Nelson - Skull Sessions
    Cramps - Off The Bone
    Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
    Violent Femmes - S/T
    Johnny Cash - American Recordings
    Beastie Boys - Paul’s Boutique
    Bob Dylan - Freewheelin’
    Iggy Pop - Raw Power
Also, wondering if you’ve ever heard the album ‘How Was Tomorrow’ by The Cash Brothers? Absolute classic, especially the song Nebraska! ( unfortunately not available on vinyl as far as I can see) Loving the channel, discovered some great new albums through some of your recommendations. Cheers, Jim from the UK.

I'm waiting for my copy of the new "Tim" box to arrive. I loved what they did with "Don't Tell A Soul" (re-mixed as "Dead Man's Pop"). And let's just take a moment to appreciate the idea of calling a record "Tim." (I think of the wizard guarding the bridge in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail": "They call me... Tim." Maybe that was the inspiration, I don't know.) The Mats were THE band of the '80s for me, and although I cycle through which of their albums is my favorite, "Tim" has long been up top for the reasons you mention. I love the way your mind works.
As for album covers, the first that come to mind for me are Isaac Hayes' "Hot Buttered Soul" (just the top of his shaved head), Sonny Rollins' "Way Out West," Joni Mitchell's "Hejira," "The Exciting Wilson Pickett," Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde," Steely Dan's "Katy Lied," Talking Heads' "More Songs About Buildings And Food"... I'm just looking around the room because I have framed copies of all these on my walls. I guess I like bold graphics and cover images that convey a feeling, an atmosphere, even if -- or maybe especially because -- they're slightly out of focus, like "Tonight's the Night"...

Great cover choices. Being There…totally came to mind as you were starting to count them down. I love “Joy.” “Can’t Let Go” is the only one I don’t absolutely love. Let It Bleed Tim…a revelation. So many lyrics jump out now. “Swingin’ Party” was the only one I heard some things in the mix I didn’t think worked, but I’ll likely warm up to it.

Hi sir We have very similar music tastes. Love Marah, Wilco, Jayhawks and Springsteen. I have the original Tim on cd and would love to get the box set, but the current price is just too much. I wish they would release the new mix as a single CD. Stuart

My personal favorite record sleeve would be Tygers Of Pan Tang's "Wild Cats" LP back in 1980, love that Tiger image, followed closely by "The Age Of Plastic" LP by The Buggles sleeve art, also in 1980, but there's many of course, great choices.

Ed elevated this cult classic that had way to much spongy reverb and crap, which was originally mixed with headphones to one of the great rock albums of all time. It's night and day.

Yeah, that horrible reverb on the snare drum. That's all I can hear when I listen to it. It's like someone listened to Husker's production and actually liked it. I really wish someone would remix Husker Du's later albums.

Cool picks (and pics) ... Most of these are my favorites, too ... The Mats remixes are wonderful, and nice to see some love for the Wrens. What an album The Meadowlands is ... Too bad they fell apart after that. Gotta have an og Tonight's the Night with the shitty blotter paper cover for the best representation of the cover art tho
