  • When I turned the engine on the stand, the shaft would slip to the rear and I wasn't able to put the pin in, to block the shaft from rotating, so I came up with another upgrade for the stand.

Not a bad idea, but i think i would've just slotted the original hole in the stand. The pin keeps it from rotating, not really from moving front and back. To each his own.

Could’ve just drilled new holes after welding up the sloopy ones

The reason I did it this way was, because the holes would be too close to each other and by putting a larger weld bead in the corner I hoped to strengthen the connection since everything seemed poor welded, I didn't want to take the risk of dropping the engine. Like my gearbox holder snapped at the weld bead because it didn't penetrate the material and so the parts didn't fuse together.

Were you not able to find washers big enough that you had to make your own?

Washers of that size are not so common, the metal was free, since it were some leftovers of another project.

    Compromised integrity

Uh, no ... not if his welds are hot enough to penetrate ... they weld them there when they make them.
