One year later, this track is still stuck in my head and has probably become my favourite track in Doom history along with Metal Hell. Andrew did something special here, man. He combined tribal battle music with metal and struck gold.
Agree to some point, the tribal parts sound cool on their own but I believe they stand out from the mood of heavy fighting stems too much. And it's also sad that tag2 was such a rush, even in regards to music. If in tag1 you had around 10-14 different light AND heavy stems in the game files, in tag2 you only have around 6 light and heavy stems to work with, which leads to the track being a bit repetitive.
@@fatmetro I see the lack of stems but really I personally don't care. All 8 stems in the World Spear are bangers. The fact that it sounds so primal, intense and hard going is what sells it for me. I get a smile on my face whenever a big guy spawns and the perfect DUN DUN DUN or main hook stem comes on, immediately switching from the haunting light music to serious tribal rip and tear business. It fits really well from an adrenaline rush and gameplay perspective. It's also one of the most unique tracks I've ever heard. I don't think I've ever listened to an anthemic tribal combat music mixed with hardcore chugging metal. Imagine a fast paced action game in a mediaeval or ancient setting where you have to fight classic folklore monsters. This type of music can work extremely well for it.
@@sillyman7274 Yeah whenever I listen to it and the buildup to the DUN DUN or hook comes I just imagine some big guys spawning in an arena or any "oh shit" moment. It sounds so primal and intense.
I was gonna just plug this into my car and just turn the volume up and listen to it. However, I just had to watch the actual gameplay. Holy shit that’s so satisfying seeing the syncing alongside the choir. My god. Masterpiece.
1) This mix is excellent, thank you for putting it together! 2) As others have said, the video syncing is EXCELLENT 3) Cool to see someone getting a lot of use out of the Micro Missiles! I still haven't gotten the hang of knowing when to use them vs. the Chaingun, but clearly you know how to get the most out of that mod.
You know that feeling when you discover a new version of a doom track that you haven’t heard yet and you decide to listen to it? Double that, and that’s what I felt like when I worked out to this, amazing stuff.
your mixes are so unique… so much attention to the editing of both the gameplay and the music, the choir is such a great addition. really hoping you do the Dark Ages OST when it releases, despite the inevitability of “wholesome isabelle chungus doomslayer” reddit comments
Well done man, this mix is a perfect representation of the theme. The chants are a godly touch and the visual work is brilliant. Even the footsteps synced up at 10:58 blows my mind.
Holy sweet mother of jesus I did NOT expect that EPIC rip and tear chant sync to drop my GOD i almost headbutted my computer🤘😖 And the gameplay in sync with the music is just 👌
Personally it was underwhelming. Unlike dlc1, I have no desire to replay it that much (partially because of how easy it is). But, if you want, you can try it out! Maybe you'll like it.
I'm curious what do you think of the Super Gore Nest Master Level? I can't really explain why, but I don't really like it, and I can't really put my finger as to why. Though the small room with the two tyrants, DOOM Hunter, and infinitely respawning carcasses that stun lock you like crazy and pretty much insta kill you doesn't help me have a positive opinion on it.
@@fatmetro ehat do you think of the FINAL big arena? I fucking LOOOOOOOVE the final fight with the 5 Tyrants and 3 Archviles. Like I literally just beat that now and that fight is godly. Yes I beat it on console too, without even dying somehow. But damn it was fun. I think what I don't like are the fights with the infinitely respawning cock blocking carcasses...and that's sadly most of the fights
DLC 2 felt so under utilized. DOOM chess pieces barely there, all the arenas felt the same, new enemies barely utilized, everything is super short, and the final boss is terrible. Also hammer is ridiculously overpowered
@@fatmetro though what's interesting is I went back to the Blood Swamps on Nightmare today, and I didn't even die once. It's the first time I touched TAG 1 in awhile too. I remember when I first played it I thought it felt like it's for masochists, but going back to it today was surprisingly... Not that bad. I know the level got some nerfs, but nothing too drastic besides removing possessed Barons and some tentacles. Jesus, did I really improve at the game this much? I guess the patch fixing blood punch and no target chainsaw also probably helps a lot too. I also have gained a new appreciation for Blood Swamps as well. It's a lot more thoughtfully designed and balanced than I gave it credit for. I think I like Blood Swamps more than UAC Atlantica now.
I like that Mick Gordon styled DOOM on screen
I just now noticed that

He’s said he won’t be doing TDA ost, unfortunately - neither him nor David.
