On the other of Parrot Rock (West) is actually the best surf break in Mirissa, not sure why its never talked about online. It’s not unknown or anything, more surfers there than the point break mentioned in this video and its a better wave overall. It goes left.
Personally I found getting a little scooter with surfboard rack on the best way to get around. You highlighted the main breaks there but there are loads more to be discovered up the coast and if the conditions line up you can snag a much quieter break or even empty if you are prepared to put the time into explore
Been there twice its an awesome place. One thing i will mention thats well worth a visit for the hungry surfer. Near to Galle which is a bit of a tuk tuk ride away there is a hotel/spa called the Fortress. They do an all you can eat buffet meal nights which are epic. Especially the curry night. Good value and amazing food in the most amazing venue. You will get treated like kings and queens so if you want to treat yourself to a fantastic evening of food and drink i recommend you go here. Smart/casual surfer clothes are ok.
Jungle Beach is a small reef break between Plantations and Weligama that might be worth mentioning. Although I have heard of hazards like low tide, and sea urchins.
Hey Dan, are the spots you mentioned reef breaks? Should I be concerned about sea urchins and such? Do you suggest bringing some kind of padding to my foot (water shoes)(diving shoes) to protect?
Heading to Lanka in late March...will it be better in the south west or over in Aragum area in the east at this time of year? Cheers. Really appreciate the content.
Thanks for the video I will be there in Jan. Was before in 2020 are there still loads of surfboard rental places with solid board selection? Need to decide if I should bring my own boards or rent in the area. Would be looking at shortboards or performancy midis/twinys.
Epic!! I'm not sure to be honest, I know there is a few shops in Weligama, where you can get soft boards and mid-lengths, but I'm not sure regarding high performance shortboards!!
Worst thing about SLK is the doof doof allnighters that drown out any sleep in a 300m radius. Everywhere i went had some problem with the noise .Volume 10x. It sucked unfortunately.
Damn!! Yeah definitely does happen!! This previous trip was too early season for it to be a problem thankfully! But defo something you gotta watch if you're not into partying!! I found Hikkaduwa and Arugam to be worse for it!!
Thanks for posting! I'm heading to Weligama, and Midigama in early March. Hope the waves hold up that late in the season? I'm looking to advance to more a solid intermediate stage.
Hey Steve! Just wondering how did it go for you in March in terms of swell? Did you score? Planning to go there around that time next year but worried it might not be consistent/big enough for intermediate
If you want to buy your very own on the beach luxury villa (huge 4 bedroom 4 bathroom 8000sqft) right on Midigama beach then let me know and I’ll send you the details. Brand new, ultra luxurious and perfect for surf lovers. $2,000,000 inc taxes (turnkey and a great rental investment with super high yields)
Hello!! Sorry for the slow response, I haven't had a chance to hit Instagram messages this week! I'm already back in Bali, otherwise would have been keen to meet up :) Hope you have a sick time in SL though :))

Epic!! Thanks for the heads up there and yes, definitely some sharp coral and urchins around on the reef breaks!!

Great video! Would you recommend going to Sri Lanka in april as an intermediate-semi-advanced surfer, preferably right hand point breaks?
Well put together thanks
Thank you!!!

Wow good to know about that-need a good nights rest for mandatory early surf sessions!
@@DanHarmon123 just curious Dan, if every town you’ve been cranks up the DJ drone noise most of the time?

Epic Steve!! You'll have a wicked time and I'm sure there will be waves then! Yep, Coconuts and Plantations will have what you're after :))

No mention of Polhena - no crowds every time i've been there -probably not good for beginners though.
Have heard of that place actually, will check it out next time :)
Yes I will

That's a pity ! Well let us know if you come in southwest of France for surfing. Do you have any good plans for surf rental in Matara ? Cheers !
