  • Do you have a Pre-K, TK, or K-2 student that comes to school screaming, crying, and/or aggressive/destructive until he or she calms down (sometimes several hours later)? Then this social story tool can hopefully help you (and your student) because that's who I made it for originally!
I have been using it to help my counseling students, and it can help your young students to learn about school, transition in the mornings, and brings parent in on the game plan for having a calm day.
To use, have the teacher or parent read it daily to the student to support learning that school is a positive place to be and teach their student/child a few basic strategies for coming to school calmly in the morning. Plus he or she can color it as part of your therapy, instruction, or counseling session.

Using a morning routine chart can help with attendance, school avoidance, and separation anxiety in children. This MORNING ROUTINE chart can help parents take some control of their child's morning habits that are causing them to be tardy to school with an incentive/rewards daily system and visuals checklist. Good for younger students and students with ADHD or Autism.
I created this chart specifically for children with separation anxiety and difficulty getting from home/car to the classroom. I found that by creating a routine, expectations, and incentives that start at home, parents can better support their child with getting to school.
