    I ran XS strings on my strat for 7 months, and only changed them because it seemed like I "should". They weren't discolored at all. There were no issues whatsoever. I replaced them with a set of the GHS Coated Boomers I used to use, and what a difference -- the Boomers do not stay in tune as well, and surprisingly, it feels like they have more friction to them. Chord changes took getting used to. TL;DR - XS strings are the best strings I've ever used.

    I love D'Addario. The only string company that has 100% control over the manufacturing process. From wire drawing, plating and coating to finishing the string. No other company does all this in-house.

    Just put on a set of XS strings on my Les Paul. Wow. They sound bright, feel pretty durable and stay in tune very well.

    These are seriously the best strings ever produced. I just wish they would release them in more sets, like 11-56.

    These are the best strings I’ve ever played. Completely blown away.
    I noticed all the stuff mentioned here before watching this: my guitar sounded more like itself, very harmonically rich. I could play faster! And they stayed in tune almost immediately.
    These are a game changer!! I’m on the 9-46 set. I used to switch string types a lot… but these have absolutely the best of all types I’ve tried. The thin strings still have the fullness and resistance when I need them to… it’s like they only bend when you want them to. Also the noiseless aspect and coating feel remind me of my favorite flatwounds.

    I tried there not really having a huge interest in coated strings but they really do sound and feel amazing. These and NYXL are my favorite.

    im a believer that most guitar products designed to help guitar players are gimmicks... THESE ARE NOT THE CASE. guitars are just wood and metal. There is not much going on with them since the 50's. I cant really tell a difference between Dadarrio, Ernie ball, GHS ect. for the money I thought "I might as well just buy two packs of Regular Dadarrio and change the strings sooner....But these strings are special. I tried a set of XS on my acoustic and theyre still silky and bright ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS. That made me try them on my mustang. probably never going back.

    These are the best strings I’ve used on my acoustics and will be trying the electrics next. I get 6 months+ out of the acoustic strings and find they last a long time and don’t loose tone or flake off like elixirs do. Won’t use anything else now

    What’s the difference between XS and XT strings? They’re both treated strings right?

    • @SimonMeunier
      @SimonMeunier 2 года назад +4

      XS has a smooth feel due to a film coating on the whole string. XT has a natural feeling due to a spray treatment.
      Also XS has a NYXL wiring and looks to have more presence in the high mids so clearer tone and maximum life. XT is similar to an EXL with extended life

    Tried them, tone is good BUT they don’t last a full day of intensive playing and some sweat on them…the non-wound strings tarnish and get oxidated and rusty. How the heck can companies like Elixir keep their non-wound strings from rusting (been using Elixirs for the past 14 years, and keep them around 2 months on my guitars), and D’addario cant do that? They say they have a polymer on the plain steels. Since they are plain stainless steel, how the heck do they stain and rust? Tried 2 packs already since I thought the first had problems. If you want natural feel and really true maximum life, buy Elixir Optiweb…you’ll end up spending less and much happier with tunning stability, tone and freshness (just use the Dunlop 65 string cleaner and a cloth and they’ll sound like new after a day of playing). It’s a shame really that I was genuinely interested in these strings, but they behave just like the other normal strings…not to mention they lose their tuning stability if you dig into them…something the Elixirs never do…

    String technology? For such a disposable product? 25 bucks after tax...I don't think so guys. You can sit on your technology. Paying 25 bucks for a couple stands of steel and nickel...come on...just seems unbelievable it would cost so much.

      It stretched in immediately and stays in tune.
      It lasts 5 times longer than regular strings so paying even three times as much is actually more economical.
