This is exactly the video I was looking for! Very helpful! Noted the wifi connectivity is poor. My only question is does normal phone internet work on the route?
It's really enjoyable watching your videos. It has been almost a year since I left Canada and traveling by VIA Rail was something I wanted to do. When I go back I'm not missing out.
Hey! I found your video entertaining and informative. Just a quick question, I'm traveling form Ottawa to Kitchener via Toronto (Connecting train). Now, As a youth I'm allowed to take 2x23kg and 1x11kg luggage. But my question is can I carry my backpack separately?
Hi 👋🏼 the best thing would be to call them and ask as they know all the updated rules regulations etc. I've always traveled with tiny suitcases, one or two backpacks and a personal bag (purse), never had to worry about the baggage so I didn't experience anything as such. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
Hi! I’m a teenager going on the via rail from Ottawa to Toronto on my own for the first time. Do you know if we have to check in or do any security stuff like when you enter an airport? Thanks for the video!
Hi 👋🏼 No there's no luggage check-in or anything like that. They just scan your ticket's qr code and ask the generic health screening questions sometimes. All the luggage will be with you. You bring them in the train with you.
This is a bit tricky. When I was booking tickets, by phone or at the station, I asked them about the seat type but they couldn't tell. They always said that the staff who will be boarding you on the train can tell you the seat type. Every time I had to change my seat from red ones to black ones, only the staff on board could do that for me. Still, talk to the staff whom you book the ticket with. If they are unsure you can ask the staff who help you board the train. Hope that helps.
Thank you so much 💓 I actually edited the video but due to technical difficulties I couldn't export the Ottawa video 😭 now editing again. Hopefully this week at least one video will be up. My apologies for being so late
HI! Thanks for sharing your experience. This video was the most informative, for a person travelling to Ottawa by train for the first time!! I wanted to ask about economy class. How can I make sure that i dont get the coach with fabric chair? and what is the difference in between escape fares and economy fare? Except the price ofcourse.
Hi Shafya! I'm glad that you found the video helpful. You can call VIA RAIL to let them know that you want those seats. If they can't help you with that, talk to the people who help you in the station. And the difference between Economy Escape, Economy and Economy Plus is cancelation conditions and fees etc. Right now cancelation or modification is free but it's always good to give them a call and ask. Hope that helps! Have a safe trip 💗
Nice work! So did you stay in a hotel? It's expensive. I am planing to take my senior parents there sometime this month. Would there be upper economy class seats so that the 3 of us can have a joint compartment of 3 or 4 chairs and cozier chairs for seniors?
I stayed in a hotel. I have a video about Ottawa and the hotel is shown in that video. You can have a look. While booking tickets for VIA rail ask them to reserve a family seating for your family. These seats are like 4 seats together, 2 facing other 2 and a table in the middle. Very comfortable and spacious. You can tell them by phone to reserve. I sometimes got that seat because it was empty and I asked the staff on board. Economy class has several types but I think chairs are same. Only the terms and conditions are different i.e. cancelation policy, baggage allowance etc. That's why prices are a bit different for different tiers of Economy class. Other than that I think all the Economy seats are same. Have a nice journey!

Not strong as the train keeps moving through areas with poor network. Take screenshot of maps/qr codes/boarding pass/itinerary etc
That's a wonderful trip! The station looks huge from the outside, and that Fairmont Hotel looked pretty impressive too!
Yes both are magnificent
👍

So detailed videos feeling like in person there..... May be someday... till then videos will do🙂
Hello when you say to ask for the black chairs who do you ask? I have an intense anxiety about germs so this is useful info for mitigating that XD

@@TheBrownCrab Hmm okay thanks I will try calling them for more details. And I will put my nicest persona on for the boarding staff! XD
That is the best idea ☺

Does VIA railway will allow me to take more baggage as I am a international student with many luggage?
It depends on how many and what weight and what ticket you got. Check their website for more information.
