Neat demo. Silky smooth, and very responsive to any turbulence. This gimbal would be excellent for collecting great downward mapping views. Loved the outtake from 6:20 with R2D2 Starfighter tribute. A hat above the camera, or a pingpong ball with googly/wiggle eyes could be fun, especially with some low-level flying.
Very cool. It all starts making more sense when a head tracker is involved. It's true, though, that now, when most air units include electronic image stabilization , an expensive stabilized gimbal is hard to justify over the simple servo pan-tilt.
First fpv item I've purchased in a long time that has worked very well. I have my mounted under an old volantex ranger I chopped to make room. Just removes alot of the movement that makes me sea sick
Whether it is 'For Me' is very much personal choice, and what you want from your footage. It does a really good job of keeping the horizon level across the screen... quite impressive. Watching it work from the fixed camera reminds me of a puzzled dog! 🥴 Thanks for the video.
The madness ! That thing works amazing ! The not sitting in cockpit perspective would take getting used to. But a switching 2 cam setup would be cool. I find as I age I get vertigo when I fly for often 🤢 ..that little machine can help !
This is great Andrew. Just got into scratch-building after a forty year break - not only RC planes fly! Your videos have been invaluable to me. Quick question - could you recommend a small camera to mount on my RC planes to record some footage? Doesn’t need to be video linked, just so I can watch later. All the best from the UK.
@@AndrewNewton Thank you! Just waiting for our summer to start and I can take the latest for its maiden. June the 10th and it feels like winter and blowing a gale 🙄 I envy your flying sites and weather!
Cool view! A brief demonstration👍 It would be better if the gimbal had an "ACRO" mode, which means the flyer can sense the plane's attitude. More FPV feelings than the gimbal's "Stablized" mode.
I bought a hexcopter off a guy with a GOPRO Hero III and a gimbal.....I couldnt fly it fpv between the curvature of the lense and the stabilization when in proximity to stationary objects....I had to install a second stationary camera to fly by video so I could see I was coming out of banking in time....not a fan...... but the gimbal does make great videos for hi def viewing later
Andrew- are the people/ officials as whacked there about FPV as they are in the States? I.E. ridiculous laws and regulations that are aimed at killing the sport? Would appreciate your input. 😊. Looks like a fun setup you are working with today!
Naah. It's good, but it's been done to death. More handy kit to give slick, stable, crisp, clear, hands-free, effortless video footage... um... (yawn)... Everybody does it, and everything looks the same. I want a hobby that's a challenge, not a push-button replay of what someone else has decided I should be satisfied with. I'm still doing my aerial video and photography by [homemade, dirigible] kite - not because it's easy, but because it isn't. Of course my results aren't even close to those obtained from any 'off the shelf' system, but I don't mind. I have fun on my own terms, and neither the CAA nor the cops can touch me for it! 😁

I get how it must be a different fpv experience, but I like it for just enjoying the sights. 😊
Brilliant bit of gear Andrew
Amazingly good. Never had a gimbal, good to see how they work.
That's a brilliant gimbal for the price Andrew.

Feel like I'm Hang gliding. 😃

Thanks to you in UK. Runcam Thumb 4k (powered from the receiver) or Hawkeye Thumb 2 (built in battery - review coming soon)

I think it does, called FPV mode.
Is amazing
Cheers 👍💪✌
Been waiting for something like this
Hello. Except of the gimbaled camera. Is this rc plane gyro stabilized? Thanks.
Yes. INAV flight control
Ahh..ok..Thank you..
I like the Video footage would of been nice to include footage from the forward facing Runcam. I don't do fpv but do understand what you are saying. 👍
Can it be operated manually or only in stabilized mode?
PWM / SBUS and Follow modes are options
what is it flight controller

In Australia we are treated as convicts and not people... and with that use your imagination.
Good job you have the nose in shot Andrew...It ruins the view though...Pretty sure the gimbal has a follow Mode....🤔😳😏🇬🇧
Bit like a video game view.
not for me :🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 at the first impression is extra after 5mn i am sick🥵

Folks still get upset by kite cameras, ask my mate Al
