@Karim Essam, We did find this racquet to be slightly more spin-friendly due to its extremely open string pattern. However, the larger head size of the APD will allow you to take bigger swings at the ball without fear of mishitting outside of the sweetspot. Andy, TW
@ JoeTehHobo69, Because of the smaller head size, it will be less forgiving and have a smaller sweetspot than the APD or Speed Pro. You could check out the Wilson Steam 99 S which is more similar to those two racquets, yet still has the extremely open string pattern. Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud, I did, and I loved them both. I preferred the Speed Pro from the baseline, but I preferred the Blade from all the other areas of the court. I felt it was more solid and give me better stability, especially around the net. I like to come in, so how a racquet plays around the net is important to me. Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso, We do not charge a labor fee for stringing a new racquet, but you will have to pay for the string itself. However, there are certain strings we run specials on when you buy a new racquet, so be sure to check those out. Andy, TW
@ assupripper, We are playtesting them and will be releasing reviews with the release of the racquets. The Radicals will be available for pre-sale on Wednesday and the Pure Strikes will be available early next year. Andy, TW
@ richman1703, The Six.One is a more control-oriented racquet with a traditional feel. The Speed Pro is crisper and stiffer feeling, and it will offer more forgiveness and access to spin. Andy, TW
@ mark molina, The BLX Six.One 95 and Head Youtek IG Prestige Pro would be a couple good discontinued ones to try. They offer great control and feel and sounds like they will fit your finesse game well. Andy, TW
@ RockOnTommy101, We are not currently planning on playtesting those two products, but we will note your interest and keep them in mind for the future. Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso, If you're a poly player, try Head Sonic Pro Edge in it. If you're a multi/syn gut player, go with Tecnifibre NRG2. There are new racquets coming from almost every company in the next few months, so keep checking in! Andy, TW
@ henry fu, If you like the more traditional feeling racquet and don't mind the smaller head size, I'd go with the 95 S. If you want a more modern racquet with a bit more forgiveness, go with the Steam 99 S. Andy, TW
@ J Wang, Given it's smaller head size, it's going to be less forgiving than the Blade. It's softer feeling and a bit more responsive, and it will offer your dramatically more spin than the Blade. The Blade is crisper and livelier feeling, and offers more of a blend of power and control. It's also more forgiving for taking a big swing at the ball. Andy, TW
@ J DP, We've found in our TW lab tests that hybrids with the softer string in the mains produce the same, if not more spin than a full bed of poly. However, you do sacrifice some durability with the gut in the mains. I think it would play really well in this racquet, but you'll certainly get more durability with a full bed of poly. Andy, TW
@ No_name, Chris is wearing a prototype shoe from Lotto. It is not available yet. Check out the adidas CC Feather II. They are very lightweight, plenty stable, and the red/blue colorway looks really cool! Andy, TW
Demoed this racquet -- loved it. Waited a while before buying it. Then, I bought it and ended up hating it! I had to change my strokes (from eastern to semi-western). Now, comfortable hitting semi-western forehands, and I love this racquet all over again! Like Chris said, it gives you the feeling of still being in the point. Stable, powerful, and does give you access to spin.
@ khalsted, We don't have this racquet in stock yet, as it is just available for pre-sale. Demos will be available within a couple weeks of the racquets of them coming in stock, so check back mid-November for a demo. Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso, If you have longer, faster strokes and are somewhat of an intermediate to advanced player, I'd definitely recommend the new 95 S. The Steam will be lighter and easier to use though, so lower level players might enjoy the Steam more. As for string, I'd give the slight edge to the RPM/gut hybrid, although both play great. In order to adjust to a heavier racquet, just keep playing with it, and eventually it will feel "right" to you. Andy, TW
@ Omar Nawaz, This would be an easy transition since you are used to the Six.One line. You'll enjoy the more open string pattern for more forgiveness and easier access to spin. Give it a shot! Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso, The Radical Pro is more powerful, forgiving, stiffer and crisper feeling. The 95 S will offer more control and feel, a more plush feel and more spin potential. Both are great racquets, so I'd recommend trying both. Andy, TW
@ waagynnees, The foam is part of Wilson's Amplifeel technology, so unfortunately you're not going to be able to remove it without dramatically affecting the feel of the racquet. You should actually still be able to add weight to the handle quite easily. Try compressing the foam gently and installing the weight just below it. The weight should then sit in an even better place in the handle. Andy, TW
@ inlazoname, This is going to be heavier than the ProStaff, which makes it much more solid and stable feeling but not quite as easy to swing. Often times, if a racquet is too light for you it can cause arm problems. If the Steam worked better for you, then you may need a heavier racquet, and this would fit what you are looking for. Andy, TW
@ Omar Nawaz, The ProStaff 95 is much lighter and softer feeling compared to the Six.One 95. It's not going to be as solid and stable, but it'll be more maneuverable and easier to swing. If you're used to the weight of the Six.One, the ProStaff will probably feel too light and underpowered. Andy, TW
@ BodegaBay, Carol has not played with it yet, and Troy has hit with it a little bit he told me. He said it's definitely easier to swing than the regular Six.One, but it has more stability than he thought it would with the lighter weight. He thought the spin potential was similar to the 16x18 version, but with more control. He likes a heavier racquet, so he would prefer it more if it had closer to the traditional Six.One specs. He's enjoyed playing with it. Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud, This is going to be much softer feeling compared to the VCore, and it won't be as forgiving given its smaller head size. The 95 S will be more solid and stable, and will also offer more access to spin. The VCore will be crisper, livelier and more forgiving. I can't say much on the Pure Strike other than that it will be more forgiving and powerful than the 95 S. Andy, TW
@ zkum16, This will have better plowthrough and feel, whereas the Speed Pro is going to be more forgiving and easier to swing. The Speed Pro is the easier of the two racquets to play with, but the 95 S has more of the traditional, hefty "player's racquet" specs. Both racquets offer excellent access to spin and power as well, with plenty of control. Andy, TW
@ YerrowNoodle, This is a great racquet, so give it a try! It won't quite be as forgiving or spin-friendly as your Steam, but it's going to give you more control and feel. Try it with RPM so that you can get an accurate comparison between the racquets. It's a great string! Andy, TW
@ AznRealization, If you can handle the heft, I'd recommend this one over the Pro Staff. They are much more solid and stable and they offer a more crisp, responsive feel. Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud, Of the three, I think I like the 95 S the most, but the Pure Strike is a better fit for my game. I'd probably end up playing with the Pure Strike. Andy, TW
@ vjunhyukv, He will be adding a little bit, but not much. He really liked it in stock form. He's going to raise up the static weight just a little bit and make it more head light. Andy, TW
@ Eli_Alexandria, Don't judge a book by its cover! I definitely recommend trying it, as it was our playtesters' favorite Six.One of this line. Andy, TW
@ 243pokemon, This 95 S will have much better plowthrough and a more solid feel compared to the Blade 98 S. It's certainly not just the Blade in a smaller head size. It feels pretty different, and in our opinion, much better. Andy, TW
So the the new Head Graphene Radical Pro came out and you weren't kidding about it coming soon. So I'm curious what string or hybrid would work well for it, also are there any other new rackets coming out this year, as in October through December? Cause a new racket will hopefully be a Christmas or birthday gift.
Thanks andy! Btw, the steam 99s u heavier than the blx pro staff six one 95? Because what i think made the difference was the pattern. Thats why the feel is much comfortable. But yeah if you think the blx ps 61 95 is too light for me then i might as well change racket this early
I still play with this racquet. I always stay a little behind the current lineups so I am ready to change but I am just not sure what to move to next. The specs on the 95s are a bit tough to mimic nowadays.
Yeah, I was a big Six One 95 fan, and used the 18x20 for years. The difficult part with this one is the 18x16 string pattern. I would say based on feel, and similar weight, the Yonex VCORE 95 would be a good one to try, however the string pattern will be more dense (16x20), and will have a lower launch angle. From there, the Prince Phantom 93P 14x18 might be on to consider. It is a bit heavier, but fairly maneuverable, has great feel, and has a very spin friendly pattern (14x18). I might also consider the Prince Textreme Tour 95, and Yonex VCORE Pro 97 310. Hope that helps. Troy, TW
I'll be looking to demo this racquet, it sounds very promising. I also read the review on your website. Chris mentioned switching over to this racquet and adding a little more weight for his own comfort level. I currently hit with last years six one 95 16x18, so am used to a slightly heavier racquet too. It's not as head light as the 16x18 though, so might add slight weight to the bottom to make it more head light. Then again I might love it the way it is, no frills! We'll see.
Hey question for probably Chris and Andy. I'm currently using the IG prestige mp. I love this racket and find myself able to slice effortlessly, but am looking for bigger sweetspot, more forgiveness, and more spin. I however do not want too much power (Graphene Radical Mp or APD level of power) as I feel that it can hurt my slice and control. Currently I have two choices from my research - Six.One 95s and AI98. I would like to know your opinions. (I'm also opened to other choices!).
Hi there TW. I tried this racket and i liked it very much. I currently play with the extreme xt pro, which is a great racket but it seems that i can't cope so well with the swing weight on short balls, over heads and my one handed backhand. I found 6.1 95s to be a lot quicker and manouverable, but the 95 size head and the fear of misshitting a lot and also the fact that wilson has stopped the production makes me hesitate. Could you suggest for me a few rackets with similar playing behaviour (or even more powerful) but with bigger head size and between 300 and 310 grs? Thank you very much!
I was wondering if the Six.One 95 S will also have the BLX technology in it because after browsing your site I didn't see BLX listed on the technologies tab. Personally I love the feel of it, but if it doesn't will the absence of BLX affect the feel of the racquet compared to the 16x18 version of this stick?
HI TW, I'm looking for a racket which has a decent spin potential while NOT losing so much control. I've been testing several 16x18 open pattern rackets and found they have less control than I want. My last demo was Babolat Pure Control 95+ and actually it didn't have that much spin I want, but frankly it was my favorite choice of all. And now I'm here at Wilson 6.1 95S. Through the 18x16 string pattern, I understand it'll have quite more spin than the PC 95+. But how about the 'control' thing? I'm afraid of losing such control from that open pattern. Well, how about this 95S? And.... vs PC 95+? I'd like to hear from Michelle, who enjoyed the Pure Control 95+ review so much, and Andy, who didn't filmed this 6.1 95S review video. I'm happy to enjoy your reviews and i'm really appreciate your reply. Thankyou all.
@Rqe, The Six.One 95S will give you a big boost in spin, but unfortunately you will lose a bit of control with that wide open string pattern. A couple of racquets I'd really suggest trying would be the Speed Pro (which we found to be incredibly spin-friendly even with its 18x20 string pattern) and the Yonex EZONE Ai 98. Both of those will give you the control and spin that you're looking for. Andy, TW
Hi Andy: although they weren't on the official playtest, I'm curious what Troy and Carol think of the 95 S. They both thoroughly tested both versions of the previous Six.Ones. I'd love to know their thoughts on this iteration. Thanks.
Nice review! Hey Andy, would you have any idea when the the Pro Staff95S comes out? I hear it's really similar with the Six.One 95S but with a 16x15 string pattern?
Hello, I bought the Pure Aero Play from you. I have been using the aeropro for many years so I m very used to its feeling. Because it s so powerfull I need to use controlled Luxilion 4g soft 25kgs which gives me control but also some pain in my elbow (golf elbow). I demoed many racquets today and loved the Wilson Pro Staff 95s because it s very soft for the arm (compared to babolat) and has a crazy amount of control. It feels the opposite of the babolat but I think I tend to like this even better. I can t demo the six one 95s. From the pro staff I am missing a very little bit of power but I might be able to get by getting less string tension. Do you think I will like the sixone 95s even better or will it get too close to the pure aero (more stiff more power) ? Thanx for your help
+Ben Kaniewski , I think you will like the Six.One 95S a little better because the feel will be "in between" that of the Pro Staff and your AeroPro Drive. It'll definitely be more comfortable than the AeroPro Drive but it'll give you a slightly crisper feel with more power than the Pro Staff. Andy, TW
+Tennis Warehouse sounds great ! Thanx which strings would you advice to put on ? I have a roll of 4gsoft and alu power rough but wanted to try the new element ? do you have good recommandation for that racket ? tension 56 lbs ? Thanx again
+Tennis Warehouse Bought it from your shop and played 6h with it comparing with my 2 others : Babolat Pure Aero Play and Wilson Pro Staff 95s --- you were right, it sits kind of between --- my favorit from now on ! :) Almost as powerfull as the babolat but more controlled and more comfy to play with --- I love those 3 models for different reasons but the sixty one 95s is my favorit ! Thanx a lot for the tips ! :)
Has Chris found a modern stick that is similar to this one? I recently brought mine back out of the closet and I'm loving it all over again. Debating on the Yonex 95.
Nope! It is a great racquet and nothing really compares currently. The VCORE 95 is a very good racquet and I think you'll enjoy it. It doesn't offer the crazy spin of the 95 S, but it has more precision, comfort and feel. Cheers, Chris, TW.
Which one between the 95S and the 95 16x18 allows you to hit deeper shots into the court? I play with 90 six.one BLX tour and I really like the deep heavy ball to keep opponents back. Also any idea when you guys will do the review of the new six.one 90? Thanks guys, your videos and reviews are 1st class, keep them coming.
@livetubing, Thank you for the kind words. The 95S will offer a little easier access to power, spin and depth on your shots. The 95 16x18 will offer a little more control and feel. As for the new ProStaff 90 review, it is finished and will be posted with the release of the racquet in January. Andy, TW
So what I am thinking right now; Wilson 6.1 95S with either the Wilson Ripspin 17, unless you think there is a better string combo, or a new racket comes out and I have another questionnaire. My dad still isn't fully convinced on buying it though, cause I spent my entire Fall Break stalking your site, which he kinda didn't like, and also he got mad about also having to buy strings for it and so did my mom for some odd reason. Do you have to pay extra for you guys to put the string it btw?
I'm definitely contemplating on giving this a demo along with the Six.one 95 18x20. Currently use the Wilson Blade Tour BLX strung with the Babolat RPM Blaast/VS Gut hybrid. Would you suggest/recommend to "not" put a natural gut string even if it was in a hybrid set i.e. Wilson Champions Choice or Babolat RPM Bblast/VS because of durability and all the string movement? or would it enhance the spin effect on this?
Q for Chris -- did I read somewhere that you have switched from this one to the Ai 100? or Ai 98? :-) I'm finally getting back to the states soon to demo this, the Ai 98, Ai 100, and some others (thanks, Andy!). But I'm also wondering about the Pro Staff 97 coming out in Oct... (not the RF97, that's too heavy for me). With a beam width like the six-one-s, the new PS97 might be a good middle ground for me. I have a flatter stroke and need a maneuverable head-light setup, esp for one-handed bh. I haven't figured out if the Spin Effect tech is really actually a plus for a flatter stroke like mine which needs control for me to effectively swing out fully. Michelle feels that without changing her stroke SE did add RPMs and kept long shots in the court... The 18-16 pattern would be the prime Spin Effect for me if any, I would think. Hmm... PS97? Hmm. Tom Petty is right yet again -- "the waiting is the hardest part." :-)
@Jeremy Morse, Chris is still using this Six.One 95S as his racquet of choice, but playtesters Jason and Brittany have both switched to the Ai 100. I'd recommend demoing both of those Yonex frames, this Six.One 95S and also the Babolat Pure Control Tour. Those four seem like they'd be right up your alley! Andy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Cool, thanks Andy. I will certainly demo these four when I get back to the states in a couple weeks. Do you think the PS 95 will be too low-powered and plush for a 4.0 at best like me, and the PS 95 S a bit too spinny for flat strokes? And as an aside, I just found out from PeterFig on the TT boards that the new PS 95 S in the "Betterer" line is a true 95 (the 97" listed on the site is a typo he said). tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=508633&page=15
@Jeremy Morse, Thanks for the update on that Wilson frame. Good to know! I think the Pro Staff 95 could work fine for you (either one), so the best thing to do is just demo all the racquets and see which one works best for you. Andy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Thanks, Andy, I will. And now I'm anxiously awaiting hitting with the PS 97 315g unstrung stick, I think this might be a real contender for me. Do you think so?
Tennis Warehouse you mean 4G Rought got more control and spin then 4G,APR? is really much more C/S or just a few then 4G and APR?if i use 4G Rought How Much tenision should i put? 48lbs?
Thanks! Also, I was wondering how this racquet would compare to the Wilson Pro Staff 95 BLX. I've been using the K Factor Six.One 16x18 for about 2 years now and I've always been thinking of switching to the Pro Staff 95 BLX, but now I'm torn between the new Six.One and the Pro Staff 95.
Would you say that this racquet is more playable than the Pro Staff 95? I prefer to hit flatter shots and am looking at these two racquets to improve my control.
Hi T.W. I just bought a Wilson Six One 95S. I really love it, It came pre-strung from factory. Can you tell me what strings they use in factory (stock) and specially what tension. If I ever break the strings I want the exact same set up. Thanks guys....
Olivier M. ,Since it came from the factory and not us, we are not sure what strings are in the racquet. Typically there is tiny lettering on the string that will tell you the name of the string. Since it was strung at the factory and not by a trained racquet technician, there's a good chance the tension is near the low end of the recommended tension range on the racquet. Andy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Hi TW. Thank you for your quick reply. You are right the strings have the name on them and it came with a Wilson RipSpin 16. I just called Wilson factory and they were unable to help me with the tension that came by default out of the factory??? They don't seem to know much, the guy said: we recommend between 50 and 60lbs, 10lbs difference its a lot, and the guy didn't know? Poor customer service. Anyway thank you for your reply. If anyone knows it will be great.
Just demoed the racquet and I have to agree with Chris, it feels amazing. Much less erratic than the 99S for example, and I didn't experience a massive drop in power either (despite having much more control). Probably going to switch to this one - what strings do you recommend? The demo had the Ripspin in it which felt quite good.
@Ciccio Traliccio, RipSpin works well in it, but I'd recommend going with Luxilon ALU Spin. That will help you get even more spin and power out of it. Andy, TW
Hi TW, I am looking to get a new racket and when I was testing out some rackets at my tennis club, I LOVED the Six One 95s, the only thing is that it could be a little bit more powerful. I also tried several rackets including to Prostaff 97 which felt great but was a little too powerful and less spin than I prefer. Based on the review videos, it looks like the prostaff 95s seems like a perfect combination of both. So does the ps 95s play similarly to the Six One 95s? Should I just stick with my original choice of the Six One 95s?
TRIL06Y , The Pro Staff 95 will actually be a little less powerful than the Six.One 95S. I'd recommend going with the Six.One but just decrease the string tension a little bit to give you the extra power you're looking for. Andy, TW
Dear Andy, How does this racquet compare to the pro staff six one 95 from last year? I also have a question on types of raquets to look for. I currently use the AERO Pro Drive and I'm thinking on moving on. I use a semi western forehand but I sometimes switch to western if I have to so I generate tons of spin. I like to hit with tons of power with spin but I'm looking on the control side now. Thnx BTW nice backhand dude. Wow.
@Sishir Jayanthi, This racquet will feel heavier and crisper than the Pro Staff. Also, with the Spin Effect string pattern it will offer much more power and spin. This racquet would be a great balance of power, spin and control and sounds like it would fit your game nicely. Give it a try! Andy, TW
How would the transition be for a player playing with a K Six.One 95 16x18 to this new racquet? I'm very interested in this new racquet given the reviews of the gang on TW.
Hello Chris, May I ask how much lead tape you put on the 95S and where on the racquet are they located? I enjoy the 95S immensely and would like to add a little weight to it but not so much so that it causes arm fatigue and hinder quick play at net. While I love the plow through of the 18x20 version, my arm tires after 90-120min of play and my game is affected. I was thinking of increasing the 95S' swing weight just a smidgen more and was curious what you did with yours. Thank you.
For me the key is not getting the head too heavy. I like a either six inches total of half-inch lead tape at the tip or about 10 inches at 3 and another 10 at 9. I then add even more than the total I've added to the head to the handle to keep the balance very head light. To maximize the spin potential, I like to keep it head light and fast feeling so I can get maximum swing speed and maximum spin on the ball. Cheers, Chris, TW
Thank you for the recommendations Chris. I gave that a try on the 95S tonight (albeit less weight than yours) and it added some nice punch to the racquet.
Hello TW. Congratulations, it is a massive review. I have been using the Wilson ncode ntour 95 since college, and now I am looking for a replacement, however, this process has been harsh because of the authenticity of the ntour 95. I have found a pair of this racket at good value and I am wondering if it could be a good selection for me. What do you think? Is it no-brainer? or would I go forward to new specimens as Vcore 95, 360+ Prestige Mid, or Pro Staff 97? I am looking forward to your response. Thank you very much.
This six one 95S could potentially be a racquet you might like, a good amount of control, feel, and easy access to spin. However, the one thing that might take some getting used to, or adapting to is that unique string pattern of 18x16. It is hard to say for certain if that pattern will work for you, unless you are able to try it. Also, with those open spin-effect patterns, we found them to work best with a full bed of poly, due to string movement and string breakage. That said, there are some good options on the market currently, such the ones you mentioned. Troy, TW
@Tennis Warehouse I demoed the Pure Aero Tour and loved the Spin and Stabilty. However I felt it was not maneverable enough for my style if play. Would you reccimmend this racket as a more maneverable altternative, which still has a lot of spin and plow through /stability?
@ Mark Winckley, For a more maneuverable option and a similar feel, I'd recommend checking out the standard Pure Aero. Give it a demo and see what you think. Andy, TW
Hi Andy, I'm looking to add 2 g of lead at 3 & 9 but I don't want to make the racquet more head heavy, would a leather grip be enough to offset the lead tape? Thanks
Hey, I have tested the pro staff 95s and loved the control and maneuverability, but the low string durability is a big issue for me. Is the string durability significantly better in the six one 95s compared to the pro staff 95s because of the denser string pattern? Otherwise I will have to stick to the pro staff 95 to save $$ on strings. I like the weight and balance of these particular range of racquets.
vivek mishra We have found most of the Spin Effect racquets are harder on strings than denser string patterns. However, you can always try to go down to a thicker gauge like a 15 gauge string or the strings made for the spin effect racquets like Lux 4GS. Hope that helps, Michelle, TW
Hi, I'm very interested in buying this racquet. However, I have no idea what string to use but I see that Andy recommended a co-poly string. Would the Kirschbaum Pro Line x 16 or 17 be suitable? If so, which one. Thanks!
i`ve got yonex vcore 89, volkl powerbride 10 mid, two dunlop hotmelt 300G`s, dunlop 200g, this one - wilson six one 95s, and just bought a wilson six one 95 16*18. and I love them all the same. strange but true. the handle is the only aspect that really makes the difference for me. there is a great racquet around every corner nowadays
Chris , again for you. I've been demoing lately the yonex AI 98 and its a great racket but i find it less manoeuverable than the 6.1 95 S ( well not the S for me but same specs as its the asian model from 2012 ) . I have no comfort issue at all btw with the 6.1 but the 95 headsize is not forgiving enough , which racket would be the closest to a "61 98 S" over all the brands (crisp , headlight precise but more forgiving and super whippy ) ? i'm really starting to get desperate now :/ (and btw 300/315 grams unstrung max for me )
@Romain Legay, The Babolat Pure Control Tour and Dunlop F 3.0 Tour would be two more racquets worth checking out, although they will have tighter string patterns. The Prince Tour 98 ESP has the open string pattern and is very maneuverable, but it won't have the same crisp, solid feel as the Six.One. The Wilson Blade 98 16x19 would also be a good one to try. Andy, TW
Hi TW, I am looking to change my current K 6.1 Tour(320g unstrung, asian ver) to a slightly ''easier'' racquet. I am looking at the Six One 95 S and 16x18 mostly, maybe the Pro Staff 95S, along with Radical/Prestige Pro. I play an all court game and like generating a heavy ball from the baseline. Could I have some insight please.
@ixeilon, I would highly recommend the above Six.One 95S. It's going to be a little more forgiving and easy to use than your current racquet, and the Spin Effect string pattern will help you generate that heavy ball from the baseline more often. It's an excellent racquet and is a favorite amongst the playtesters. Andy, TW
I have demoed the 98s a few times, how does the plow through of this compare to the 98s? I found the 98 to have a little more than my prostaff 95 16x19. And is this just a 98s with a smaller headsize.
Wilson Steam 99LS vs the Wilson Six.One 95S? Which is better the Babolat Hybrid RPM Blast 17+ VS 16 String or Wilson Champion's Choice? Or a combo of the two like the Babolat Natural Gut 16 with the Luxilon ALU Power 16L/ or Power Rough 16L? Also how would you adjust to a heavier racket?
I currently play with the precedessor of this racket ( the asia version of the 6.1 95 BLX . While this review makes the new version attractive really i'm looking for a larger headsize but with keeping the feeling/manoeuverability of this one ( minus the spin effect) Any idea at TW on where i should look at ? (in the same weight range too ) Or is the new version of the 95S really different from the previous one , does the spin effect technology bring up more forgiveness ?
@Benji Marle, This new Spin Effect version certainly does give this racquet a different feel. It offers much more spin and makes it more forgiving. Another good option for you would be the Wilson Blade 98 18x20. That will give you a fairly similar feel with a larger, more forgiving head size. Andy, TW
Hello, Will you be reviewing the wilson six one 95 L 18x20? I'm debating between this one (I currently play with the six one 95 k factor team) or the blade 98.
@jaderlinx86, We are not currently playtesting it at this time, but we may come back to it in the future as we know it is a very popular racquet. The new 95L will be the direct update to your current racquet. This 95S will be a bit heavier, but will offer better plowthrough and access to spin. The Blade will also be heavier and will offer more power, but will be a little more difficult to swing. Andy, TW
Hola TW... How would you compare the SixOne 95s with the Graphene Radical Pro?... Can they be considered similar options (suited for the same kind of player) despite the specs differences?
@Luis Adrián Hernández Cárdenas, The Six.One 95S will offer better spin potential with it's open string pattern and a softer, more plush feel while the Radical Pro will give you easier access to power, a bit more control and a larger, more forgiving sweetspot. Both racquets would appeal to intermediate to advanced level players with longer, faster strokes. If you like a more traditional-feeling racquet but want a boost in spin, go with the Six.One. If you want something with a larger sweetspot that you can feel confident taking big cuts at the ball from the baseline, go with the Radical Pro. Andy, TW
Hello! I currently use a Six One 95 16x18, but I recently cracked it. I know that the 16x18 is no longer available, but I saw that the 95s was still for sale. I'm looking for something a little lighter, and the spin effect tech sounds nice as well. I also noticed that I can't demo the racket. Should I go ahead and take a risk and get the 95s? Thanks in advance!
@ flamingrubix, Based on what you're looking for, it sounds like this could be a great fit for your game. We will be making the demos available again very soon though (hopefully in the next couple days), so if you can wait a little bit then you can get a demo, try it out and see how it works for you. Keep checking back throughout the next day or two for the availability of the demo. Andy, TW
Andy, OMG so many choices what do you think is a good choice on some discontinued rackets like the BB London, or Prince exo3 18x20, or Should I go for 85s, on the cusp of 4.0 player .. playing power players, and I have more of a touch game then power trying to increase racket speed and power. I can spend 95s, 200 on a blade :) just curious . I tried the organix 10 98, current racket yonex 002 tour. I could be a strong tennis player, if i quit my job to play all the time :)
@Karim Essam,
We did find this racquet to be slightly more spin-friendly due to its extremely open string pattern. However, the larger head size of the APD will allow you to take bigger swings at the ball without fear of mishitting outside of the sweetspot.
Andy, TW
Just started using this racket. Works wonders on my reverse kick serve 😎
@ JoeTehHobo69,
Because of the smaller head size, it will be less forgiving and have a smaller sweetspot than the APD or Speed Pro. You could check out the Wilson Steam 99 S which is more similar to those two racquets, yet still has the extremely open string pattern.
Andy, TW
@ D Kwm,
The 95 S does include the BLX technology. Thanks for catching our mistake on the website. It will be fixed shortly.
Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud,
I did, and I loved them both. I preferred the Speed Pro from the baseline, but I preferred the Blade from all the other areas of the court. I felt it was more solid and give me better stability, especially around the net. I like to come in, so how a racquet plays around the net is important to me.
Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso,
We do not charge a labor fee for stringing a new racquet, but you will have to pay for the string itself. However, there are certain strings we run specials on when you buy a new racquet, so be sure to check those out.
Andy, TW
@ assupripper,
We are playtesting them and will be releasing reviews with the release of the racquets. The Radicals will be available for pre-sale on Wednesday and the Pure Strikes will be available early next year.
Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud,
It's most similar in my opinion to the Wilson Blade 98.
Andy, TW
@ richman1703,
The Six.One is a more control-oriented racquet with a traditional feel. The Speed Pro is crisper and stiffer feeling, and it will offer more forgiveness and access to spin.
Andy, TW
@ mark molina,
The BLX Six.One 95 and Head Youtek IG Prestige Pro would be a couple good discontinued ones to try. They offer great control and feel and sounds like they will fit your finesse game well.
Andy, TW
@ RockOnTommy101,
We are not currently planning on playtesting those two products, but we will note your interest and keep them in mind for the future.
Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso,
If you're a poly player, try Head Sonic Pro Edge in it. If you're a multi/syn gut player, go with Tecnifibre NRG2. There are new racquets coming from almost every company in the next few months, so keep checking in!
Andy, TW
@ Zaigham Ali,
We are expecting them early next year.
Andy, TW
@ JC Inojosa,
@ RockOnTommy101 is right...we were using Wilson RipSpin.
Andy, TW
@ henry fu,
If you like the more traditional feeling racquet and don't mind the smaller head size, I'd go with the 95 S. If you want a more modern racquet with a bit more forgiveness, go with the Steam 99 S.
Andy, TW
@ J Wang,
Given it's smaller head size, it's going to be less forgiving than the Blade. It's softer feeling and a bit more responsive, and it will offer your dramatically more spin than the Blade. The Blade is crisper and livelier feeling, and offers more of a blend of power and control. It's also more forgiving for taking a big swing at the ball.
Andy, TW
@ J DP,
We've found in our TW lab tests that hybrids with the softer string in the mains produce the same, if not more spin than a full bed of poly. However, you do sacrifice some durability with the gut in the mains. I think it would play really well in this racquet, but you'll certainly get more durability with a full bed of poly.
Andy, TW
@ No_name,
Chris is wearing a prototype shoe from Lotto. It is not available yet. Check out the adidas CC Feather II. They are very lightweight, plenty stable, and the red/blue colorway looks really cool!
Andy, TW
@ Myekal Benham,
I think it would play great! Try it at 54 lbs and see what you think.
@ khalsted,
We don't have this racquet in stock yet, as it is just available for pre-sale. Demos will be available within a couple weeks of the racquets of them coming in stock, so check back mid-November for a demo.
Andy, TW
@ Cameron Hylan,
I would go with Wilson Champion's Choice for a premium blend of power, control spin and playability.
Andy, TW
@ Dounan Shao,
The leather grip would definitely offset that little bit of weight you are adding to the hoop.
Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud,
It is. I love it!
Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso,
If you have longer, faster strokes and are somewhat of an intermediate to advanced player, I'd definitely recommend the new 95 S.
Andy, TW
@ Omar Nawaz,
This would be an easy transition since you are used to the Six.One line. You'll enjoy the more open string pattern for more forgiveness and easier access to spin. Give it a shot!
Andy, TW
@ henry fu,
I would go with a really soft polyester string like Dunlop Black Widow or Volkl Cyclone Tour. Try it at 55 lbs.
Andy, TW
@ Treus Sestoso,
The Radical Pro is more powerful, forgiving, stiffer and crisper feeling. The 95 S will offer more control and feel, a more plush feel and more spin potential. Both are great racquets, so I'd recommend trying both.
Andy, TW
@ waagynnees,
The foam is part of Wilson's Amplifeel technology, so unfortunately you're not going to be able to remove it without dramatically affecting the feel of the racquet. You should actually still be able to add weight to the handle quite easily. Try compressing the foam gently and installing the weight just below it. The weight should then sit in an even better place in the handle.
Andy, TW
Thank you TW, I got mine today and plan on testing it this weekend, can't wait!
@ inlazoname,
This is going to be heavier than the ProStaff, which makes it much more solid and stable feeling but not quite as easy to swing. Often times, if a racquet is too light for you it can cause arm problems. If the Steam worked better for you, then you may need a heavier racquet, and this would fit what you are looking for.
Andy, TW
@ Omar Nawaz,
The ProStaff 95 is much lighter and softer feeling compared to the Six.One 95. It's not going to be as solid and stable, but it'll be more maneuverable and easier to swing. If you're used to the weight of the Six.One, the ProStaff will probably feel too light and underpowered.
Andy, TW
@ BodegaBay,
Carol has not played with it yet, and Troy has hit with it a little bit he told me.
Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud,
This is going to be much softer feeling compared to the VCore, and it won't be as forgiving given its smaller head size. The 95 S will be more solid and stable, and will also offer more access to spin. The VCore will be crisper, livelier and more forgiving. I can't say much on the Pure Strike other than that it will be more forgiving and powerful than the 95 S.
Andy, TW
@ YashD135,
A smaller head size offers better precision and feel. However, they are not as forgiving or easy to use.
Andy, TW
@ zkum16,
This will have better plowthrough and feel, whereas the Speed Pro is going to be more forgiving and easier to swing. The Speed Pro is the easier of the two racquets to play with, but the 95 S has more of the traditional, hefty "player's racquet" specs. Both racquets offer excellent access to spin and power as well, with plenty of control.
Andy, TW
@ YerrowNoodle,
This is a great racquet, so give it a try! It won't quite be as forgiving or spin-friendly as your Steam, but it's going to give you more control and feel. Try it with RPM so that you can get an accurate comparison between the racquets. It's a great string!
Andy, TW
@ AznRealization,
If you can handle the heft, I'd recommend this one over the Pro Staff. They are much more solid and stable and they offer a more crisp, responsive feel.
Andy, TW
@ Andreas Bergrud,
Of the three, I think I like the 95 S the most, but the Pure Strike is a better fit for my game. I'd probably end up playing with the Pure Strike.
Andy, TW
I love the slow-mo shots behind the player, like at 2:28 and 4:00. you can see the ball spin and the impact.
@ vjunhyukv,
He will be adding a little bit, but not much. He really liked it in stock form. He's going to raise up the static weight just a little bit and make it more head light.
Andy, TW
Really in love with this racket... Great Stick!
@ Eli_Alexandria,
Don't judge a book by its cover! I definitely recommend trying it, as it was our playtesters' favorite Six.One of this line.
Andy, TW
@ 243pokemon,
This 95 S will have much better plowthrough and a more solid feel compared to the Blade 98 S. It's certainly not just the Blade in a smaller head size. It feels pretty different, and in our opinion, much better.
Andy, TW
@ Noah Lee,
Yes, she can!
Andy, TW
I love this racket! Anyone using it as a current racket now?
I just switched back to it, lol! Still a great stick.
So the the new Head Graphene Radical Pro came out and you weren't kidding about it coming soon. So I'm curious what string or hybrid would work well for it, also are there any other new rackets coming out this year, as in October through December? Cause a new racket will hopefully be a Christmas or birthday gift.
Michelle is a pleasure to watch. Beautiful strokes.
Wow, I didn't expect Chris to prefer this racket over the prestige MP! I'm guessing he is adding a bit of lead to it?
Hi there TW. I tried this racket and i liked it very much. I currently play with the extreme xt pro, which is a great racket but it seems that i can't cope so well with the swing weight on short balls, over heads and my one handed backhand. I found 6.1 95s to be a lot quicker and manouverable, but the 95 size head and the fear of misshitting a lot and also the fact that wilson has stopped the production makes me hesitate. Could you suggest for me a few rackets with similar playing behaviour (or even more powerful) but with bigger head size and between 300 and 310 grs? Thank you very much!
@ ΝΙΚΟΣ ΠΑΠΑΪΩΑΝΝΟΥ,
A few racquets I'd recommend checking out are the Yonex EZONE DR 98, Wilson Ultra 100 and Head Graphene XT Speed MP.
Andy, TW
I was wondering if the Six.One 95 S will also have the BLX technology in it because after browsing your site I didn't see BLX listed on the technologies tab. Personally I love the feel of it, but if it doesn't will the absence of BLX affect the feel of the racquet compared to the 16x18 version of this stick?
What's the difference in feel between the Six.One 95s or Pro Staff 95s?
Hey tw does this racket produces more spin than the aeropro
@ wally54mc,
4G S would play great in it. Give it a shot!
Andy, TW
When will you do a review of the Pure Strike sticks?
@keijimuto,
Our review of the Pure Strikes will be posted with the release of the racquet next month.
Andy, TW
HI TW,
I'm looking for a racket which has a decent spin potential while NOT losing so much control.
And.... vs PC 95+?
I'd like to hear from Michelle, who enjoyed the Pure Control 95+ review so much,
and Andy, who didn't filmed this 6.1 95S review video.
I'm happy to enjoy your reviews and i'm really appreciate your reply.
Thankyou all.
@Rqe,
The Six.One 95S will give you a big boost in spin, but unfortunately you will lose a bit of control with that wide open string pattern.
+Ben Kaniewski ,
I think you will like the Six.One 95S a little better because the feel will be "in between" that of the Pro Staff and your AeroPro Drive. It'll definitely be more comfortable than the AeroPro Drive but it'll give you a slightly crisper feel with more power than the Pro Staff.
Andy, TW
+Tennis Warehouse sounds great ! Thanx
which strings would you advice to put on ? I have a roll of 4gsoft and alu power rough but wanted to try the new element ? do you have good recommandation for that racket ? tension 56 lbs ?
Thanx again
***** ,
Give Element a try around 53 lbs and see what you think.
Andy, TW
+Tennis Warehouse Bought it from your shop and played 6h with it comparing with my 2 others : Babolat Pure Aero Play and Wilson Pro Staff 95s --- you were right, it sits kind of between --- my favorit from now on ! :)
Almost as powerfull as the babolat but more controlled and more comfy to play with --- I love those 3 models for different reasons but the sixty one 95s is my favorit !
@livetubing,
Thank you for the kind words.
Q for Chris -- did I read somewhere that you have switched from this one to the Ai 100? or Ai 98? :-)
I'm finally getting back to the states soon to demo this, the Ai 98, Ai 100, and some others (thanks, Andy!).
@Jeremy Morse,
Chris is still using this Six.One 95S as his racquet of choice, but playtesters Jason and Brittany have both switched to the Ai 100.
@Jeremy Morse,
Thanks for the update on that Wilson frame.
Do you think so?
can u camper 4G,4G Rough,Alu Power Rough which one is the best work at this racket?
@斯巴呆,
I would suggest going with 4G Rough to get lots of control, spin and tension maintenance.
Andy, TW
They don't seem to know much, the guy said: we recommend between 50 and 60lbs,
10lbs difference its a lot, and the guy didn't know? Poor customer service.
Anyway thank you for your reply.
If anyone knows it will be great.
Just demoed the racquet and I have to agree with Chris, it feels amazing. Much less erratic than the 99S for example, and I didn't experience a massive drop in power either (despite having much more control). Probably going to switch to this one - what strings do you recommend? The demo had the Ripspin in it which felt quite good.
@Ciccio Traliccio,
RipSpin works well in it, but I'd recommend going with Luxilon ALU Spin.
TRIL06Y ,
The Pro Staff 95 will actually be a little less powerful than the Six.One 95S. I'd recommend going with the Six.One but just decrease the string tension a little bit to give you the extra power you're looking for.
Andy, TW
Dear Andy,
How does this racquet compare to the pro staff six one 95 from last year? I also have a question on types of raquets to look for. I currently use the AERO Pro Drive and I'm thinking on moving on. I use a semi western forehand but I sometimes switch to western if I have to so I generate tons of spin. I like to hit with tons of power with spin but I'm looking on the control side now. Thnx
BTW nice backhand dude. Wow.
@Sishir Jayanthi,
This racquet will feel heavier and crisper than the Pro Staff. Also, with the Spin Effect string pattern it will offer much more power and spin. This racquet would be a great balance of power, spin and control and sounds like it would fit your game nicely. Give it a try!
Andy, TW
Thnx for your help ;)
How would the transition be for a player playing with a K Six.One 95 16x18 to this new racquet? I'm very interested in this new racquet given the reviews of the gang on TW.
Hello Chris,
May I ask how much lead tape you put on the 95S and where on the racquet are they located?
Hi, I have a Wilson Blade 18x20 (2013) and am planning on switching to this racquet. What do you think?
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Troy
Thinking about getting this racquet from u guys. Any recommendations on strings? I'm NOT a power hitter.
Chris what shoes are those? I find myself likeing red shoes but the Barricades just arent my style.
Hi
Is this racquet to hard/to small headsize for a 3.5-4.0 player? Should I go with a larger headsize racquet? I play now with a bio 300 tour.
regards
When will you review the new Radicals and the new Babolat Pure Strikes?
@Tennis Warehouse I demoed the Pure Aero Tour and loved the Spin and Stabilty. However I felt it was not maneverable enough for my style if play. Would you reccimmend this racket as a more maneverable altternative, which still has a lot of spin and plow through /stability?
@ Mark Winckley,
For a more maneuverable option and a similar feel, I'd recommend checking out the standard Pure Aero. Give it a demo and see what you think.

Thanks Andy :)
Hi Andy,
I'm looking to add 2 g of lead at 3 & 9 but I don't want to make the racquet more head heavy, would a leather grip be enough to offset the lead tape?
I like the weight and balance of these particular range of racquets.
vivek mishra
We have found most of the Spin Effect racquets are harder on strings than denser string patterns. However, you can always try to go down to a thicker gauge like a 15 gauge string or the strings made for the spin effect racquets like Lux 4GS.
Hope that helps,
Michelle, TW
Hi Andy,
Is it a good stick for a serve and volley player? Or maybe the PS97 will be better for that kind of play?
Thanks.
@Fourat WADI,
Both racquets would work well for your style of play. Give them a try and see what you think!

Hi,
I'm very interested in buying this racquet. However, I have no idea what string to use but I see that Andy recommended a co-poly string. Would the Kirschbaum Pro Line x 16 or 17 be suitable? If so, which one.
Thanks!
@Joseph Vu,
Pro Line X would work great. Go with the 17 gauge for a livelier, more responsive feel, unless you're a frequent string breaker.

i`ve got yonex vcore 89, volkl powerbride 10 mid, two dunlop hotmelt 300G`s, dunlop 200g, this one - wilson six one 95s, and just bought a wilson six one 95 16*18. and I love them all the same. strange but true. the handle is the only aspect that really makes the difference for me. there is a great racquet around every corner nowadays
Chris , again for you. I've been demoing lately the yonex AI 98 and its a great racket but i find it less manoeuverable than the 6.1 95 S ( well not the S for me but same specs as its the asian model from 2012 ) . I have no comfort issue at all btw with the 6.1 but the 95 headsize is not forgiving enough , which racket would be the closest to a "61 98 S" over all the brands (crisp , headlight precise but more forgiving and super whippy ) ? i'm really starting to get desperate now :/ (and btw 300/315 grams unstrung max for me )
@Romain Legay,
The Babolat Pure Control Tour and Dunlop F 3.0 Tour would be two more racquets worth checking out, although they will have tighter string patterns. The Prince Tour 98 ESP has the open string pattern and is very maneuverable, but it won't have the same crisp, solid feel as the Six.One. The Wilson Blade 98 16x19 would also be a good one to try.
Andy, TW
So what are the similarities and differences between the Head Graphene Radical Pro and the Wilson 6.1 95S, and which is better?
Hi TW,
I am looking to change my current K 6.1 Tour(320g unstrung, asian ver) to a slightly ''easier'' racquet. I am looking at the Six One 95 S and 16x18 mostly, maybe the Pro Staff 95S, along with Radical/Prestige Pro. I play an all court game and like generating a heavy ball from the baseline. Could I have some insight please.
@ixeilon,
I would highly recommend the above Six.One 95S.
@Benji Marle,
This new Spin Effect version certainly does give this racquet a different feel.
@jaderlinx86,
We are not currently playtesting it at this time, but we may come back to it in the future as we know it is a very popular racquet.
@Luis Adrián Hernández Cárdenas,
The Six.One 95S will offer better spin potential with it's open string pattern and a softer, more plush feel while the Radical Pro will give you easier access to power, a bit more control and a larger, more forgiving sweetspot.
@ flamingrubix,
Based on what you're looking for, it sounds like this could be a great fit for your game. We will be making the demos available again very soon though (hopefully in the next couple days), so if you can wait a little bit then you can get a demo, try it out and see how it works for you. Keep checking back throughout the next day or two for the availability of the demo.
Andy, TW
Looking to Demo Six One 95s. Don't see it available yet.
vspehanit ,
Available soon...stay tuned.

Should I switch to this racquet or the steam 99s? I currently use the prostaff 95.
