Just wanted to share the message The Regrettes put in their newsletter for this song as I find it very beautiful and important :)
From Lydia: “It's the first time I've ever written directly about a girl I had a crush on, and it took me a while for me to even allow my brain to accept the fact that I'm bisexual. I always felt like I couldn't validate my own feelings because I had never been in a relationship with a girl. But I had a pretty big crush on one of my friends a while ago and this song is an exaggeration of that, but it’s still coming from a very real place. It was the first experience where I was like, ‘Oh, these are real feelings, this isn’t just a sexual attraction,’ and that helped me realize I wasn’t straight. This song means so much to me because it also represents the time we spent in Joshua tree and opening up to my whole band about that experience and not feeling embarrassed or scared of talking about it. Writing this was important for me because it just validated my own sexuality.”
Genessa also adds: “As a queer person growing up it definitely felt like there weren't many songs I could relate to fully and I feel like this song would have been something I would have held really close to my heart as a kid. I hope that happens with other people. I don't think it necessarily has to be this queer anthem but I think someone else could listen to it and feel the same way, or someone could feel that way about a boy they like. Boys can be pretty too.”

As a big heavy music (especially metalcore and deathcore) enjoyer I genuinely feel bad for a lot of metalheads or any other music genre addicts and gatekeepers that only allow themselves to be expaused to one or very narrow group of music styles. I am so happy that I finally came to conclusion myself that good music is genreless and it's completely fine to enjoy even the siliest, simplest or "uncool" mainstream things.

This beautiful song brings me back to my first love. I'm not that person anymore and it was the loss of that love that put me on the path to improving some less desirable things about myself.

I watched the video and thought it was a very cute and soft video that really matches the tenderness of the song. Going through the comments was a very concerning and disturbing experience. It’s very upsetting and sad to see how women cant do anything without being sexualized. If you have creepy thoughts, keep them to yourself because honestly no one deserves to read shit like that, especially Lydia who has been through so much already

Did you not watch the video? The singer is sexualising HERSELF to sell the video to get views. This is what women do, it's their own choice. They often take the easy way, which is to sell their body. The video didn't need to be of a woman wandering around the house in her knickers, showing a lot of leg and gap between her legs, did it?
To get a leg up, many women sell themselves like prostitutes for financial gain, attention and status. The quicker you understand this, the easier your life will be - moving forward.
