My brother called this song his anthem. We lost him a month ago to Covid (September 12th, 2021) and played this at the closing of his funeral. It’s everything that Donnie Ray (DJ) was. When I want to feel close to him, I pull this up and listen. Ain’t nothing better than them holler boys! Fly high, D. ❤️
Just wanted to share... When DJ passed, he and his girlfriend were expecting a baby. He came early at 25 weeks gestation on December 26th, 2021. He is almost 8 months old now and is the spitting image of his daddy! I have no doubt that DJ sent us our sweet Waylon Ray. (Added 8/14/22)

I think many don’t understand. I encountered this after Desert Storm. I was trying to drive home from Georgia. I encountered a “Hollerboy” on the interstate. I had no money. But, because I was a veteran, my car was fixed, free of charge, and I was sent on my way. By the way, the tow truck driver, and the station owner were BLACK. I was a child. 19 years old. These strong black “Hollerboys” took care of me. I am who I am today largely because of that moment.
