Man these comments are proof that guitar tone is so subjective. They all something to them and it really depends on what YOU are looking for and what you like about metal tones. Everyone placing the victory last has me realizing where metal tones are currently at. Everyone likes that tight, tone when I think the victory would be very versatile. Nothing an eq, overdrive or presence pedal wouldn’t drastically change or fix.

I picked up a new Orange Bax Bangeetar pre-amp that i can use in the Effects Loop and have a fire breathing monster while retaining if not enhancing harmonics and tone. I have the Orange OR15, a Dark Terror, and that Orange SS head. The Bax can be used in conjunction with any set up even one of my modelers so I think this is the ticket. Wish I had some video gear to post up demos on RUclips. I have enough high end high wattage heads and couldn't justify spending 2,500.00 on a Thunderverb nor could I afford it right now. I'm good. Now I can focus on getting another vintage Les Paul Standard or a Mayones. It never ends. I do love the ENGL Savage I must say. Incredible harmonics and gain. I'll have to settle on a patch on that. I have a 6505MH that I'm running (with a Boss EQ-200 10-band EQ thru the effects loop...) now, and I was really happy with the tone of it until last night... a friend has the Engl Ironball E606 and it has a waaaaaay better tone without the Graphic EQ going thru it than the 6505MH WITH the EQ thru it...
From my experiences, the pros & cons of each amp are as follows:
    *Peavey 6505MH, Pros:
-has plenty of gain on tap for a wide variety of rock and metal genre tones
-controls have a nice wide audible range to them, for a wide variety of tonal shaping
    *Peavey 6505MH, cons:
-needs a good 10-band Graphic EQ to really help shape the tones a lot more and better...
-cleans are not good on these amps at all. Even with the gain set relatively low, your tone is still dirty...
-not having a master volume for the whole amp is kind of a downfall. you have to play with the channel pre and/or post gain controls to match the rhythm and lead channels so one is not overbearing when switching...
    *Engl Ironball E606, Pros:
-has a much thicker, tighter gain than the 6505MH - even with the gain boost off. But with the gain boost on, it fills in the gain and tone so much more and better...
-the tones available right from this amp are much tighter and better also, WITHOUT having to need & use a 10-band Graphic EQ to help shape it better... Im sure you can re-tweak the EQ to dial it in a tiny bit more and better. but on its own, it's shocking hiw good this amp sounds without it!
-Clean tones are actually that, CLEAN!!! And really good sounding cleans too, not dirty even on the slightest bit unless you dial the gain up or use the gain boost on the amp...
-the master volume control is great to be able to keep your channel volumes more equal easier, while being able to turn the whole amp up or down as needed...an ideal function for either playing out, recording, or playing in your house/bedroom at all hours of the night...
    *Engl Ironball E606, cons:
-Not having a resonance control to go with the presence control kinda bites... its nice being able to dial in a little more low end in the power amp section like on the 6505MH or any of the OG 5150/6505 amps... absolutely NOT a deal breaker though... there's enough low that can be dialed in on the bass control and adjusting the high frequencies is easy between the high and presence controls to get this amp sounding fierce...
-the power soak (switchable power level function) works on the 8 ohm output ONLY!!! I guess this is something else that's not necessarily a deal breaker either, since this amp has a master volume control for the whole amp... But would still be nice to be able to run 2x 8 ohm cabs or a single 16 ohm cab with the ability to select the 5W or 1W mode...
-the amps reverb seems to be not at all audible... I've tried playing g with the control on the back multiple times and it seems to have very little or no effect whatsoever... so of your looking for some kind of functiong reverb for this amp, you'll need a good reverb pedal to get it...
So for me, the Engl Ironball is the clear winner between it and the 6505MH... so much so, that I'm considering letting go of my 6505MH (as well as my Classic 20MH, Mesa Head Track, Boss EQ-200 10-band Graphic EQ, and an EVH 5150 III 2x12 cab with a pair of Celestion G12-T75's in it...) go for an Ironball E606... Im that hooked on how good it sounds!!!

Here I like ORANGE but hate the crappy symbols. I own the ENGL but changed V1 (Winged C) & V2 (75% GT) and run it mainly on CLEAN set to GAIN = 8 to 10 (using guitar volume to get a clean tone). It improved dramatically for BLUES/ROCK with +10% headroom on the MASTER VOLUME BOOST SWITCH. The Lead is there if I like a much more self-indulgent Solo but I leave that mainly to those that can not play a Solo with good note choice!!! I use an EP BOOST PEDAL to provide a thicker tone with slightly more sustain. Again I can switch that OFF to get to a CLEAN tone when needed thus retain overall tone.
I just could not buy the ORANGE for lettering and limited features unlike that IRONBALL with it all! PLUS the NEW IRONBALL has even more!!!! However, I am eager to test the new FIREBALL 25 😀

Engl and Peavey. Orange best gain range adjustment, sounds also good but not that punchy as Engl and Peavey. Victory didnt sound well even during EQ adjustment. So now which of thouse 3 at top has better clean, other options, controlable loudness etc...Even Engl for my ears has a bit much modern smell I would gues that clean will be quit usable + watt power reduction etc...Hm...?

39,000 views on this vid alone and only 925 subs - people suck. As if it’s hurt you to sub!?!? But would it help this dude??? F Ya!! This took a long time to put together.... I appreciate it.

Many thanks, bro, I feel you! Also, I didn't make a new video for a long time, but there will be something new soon.

      You convinced me!!!
I came here by accident, looking for confirmation whether I did the right thing by buying the Peavey 6505 MH (it has not reached me yet). I know how much work and time it takes to make a video like this. Appreciate and give me my subs right away. I hope that someday I will record how my Peavey works - especially since I built a 2x12 cab for him, made of 18mm birch plywood.

These ara great sound everyone but one thing is missing, it jumps in the air and kicks like hell when you put overdrive, there isn't any blues or rock sound harmonic overdrive but all the way to death metal

ENGL and 6506 are great IMO. The Orange was a close second. The Victory sounded terrible.

Wow, the Victory and the Orange sounded absolutely awful. The Engl and the Peavey however sounded great!

Engl wins ! Orange was nice. Didn't care for the Victory but the Peavey sounds like a cheap solid state compared to the others.
