Thanks for sharing this technique! Before, I didn't enjoy fiddling with plying on a spindle, with all the rewinding required before plying. Plus you never end up with the same lengths for each single, and some singles end up more relaxed than others, because some have rested a lot more.
With this ply-on-the-fly technique, the yarn is freshly plied after spinning the singles, and you always have the perfect length of singles to ply together!
Brilliant! Thanks again!
Awesome! I taught myself to Navajo ply based on what friends told me... actually seeing it done and with various tips and tricks... really helps! Thanks so much for posting this.
Plying 'on the fly' has been my 'party piece' since your first vid - thanks for the update. You're a genius!
Fantastic video and a great technique. I love chain plying to preserve the color changes in some singles and when trying to do that on the wheel, I always struggled. This spindle technique will give me the control that I need to be successful and get the yarn that I picture in my mind.
Wonderful, like travelling in time.
Thanks for the long chain method, I haven't seen that before, it makes the plying a lot less finicky and makes for more even plying.
The winding around the elbow method should come in handy too (which was what I was looking for originally lol)
Tammy you're bad ass! Great video. Thanks so much for putting this together. So much appreciated.
Thank you. I love the ease in which you spin. I hope that someday with continued practice, patients and helpful videos such as yours I will be able to spin with similar ease. Thank you for sharing. I found your video easy to understand and I could see what you were doing well. Especially when you used the white fluff against your dark shirt.
My head just exploded...amazing technique.
I keep trying but I'm just not getting it (either from this video or from the previous one). I'll keep trying, but in the meantime, could you a) move to my town please and b) offer a class at my LYS? Thank you for the videos!
