I taught myself to walk again after being in a wheelchair for 6 years. I waddle to walk, this exercise makes sense, will be trying it.
Wow! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for addressing this critical parameter! I've been a Personal Trainer with a specialty in Senior Citizen Fitness for 15+ years. I do wish to comment - your model is exhibiting very poor posture. We want our clients to develop balance, but also correct posture. The 2 together augment good balance in everyday life (functional training). The heel-toe is a simple, effective exercise, one of my favorites!
Thanks for sharing! My model is a 77 year-old with severe ankylosing Spondylitis . Despite his condition he is able to workout, surf, dance, and function at a very high level. You can't correct that by "standing straighter" But, despite his spine problems, he is able to improve his balacne with these types of exercise.
Thank you. I needed this.
I had to do these with my knee replacement surgery… I still have good balance years later..
I could do this while watching TV. Standing in back of the sofa facing TV. Thanks.
Thanks for some practical advice.
Thank you v much. You said something v correctly. I almost trip n after that I had the fear of falling. That makes things worse as I unconsciously walk with legs apart. That makes me more unsteady and prone to falling down.
😂
Thank you so much sir..
Thank you ❤❤
Honest, occifer, I only had one beer
Is it better to do these exercises in shoes or barefoot?
Barefoot is usually easier.
I can’t stand for more than a second or so on one leg. And I’m getting pretty good at doing this heel to toe stand. When I have that mastered, will that help with standing on one leg only? I just feel that standing on one leg is something that so many people can do, but I just seem to have lost that ability over the years. By the way, I’m almost 81 years old. I’m also practicing walking in a straight line, but I’m still to the point where I have to hold on a lot.
Yes! It really does lead to you being able to do it. Dont give up!
Heel to toe position, which leg has to bear the weight?? Front leg or the leg that is behind?
Both equal

Why do older people lose their balance
When you don't regularly utilize all the muscles, tendons and ligaments, they atrophy to a degree. Also, STRENGTH is key. A strong Base if Support is crucial to keeping the vestibular system in good working order. Weights, cardiovascular and balance exercises are a must as you age.
When their bank accounts get low

I can't do it 10 sec. Yet 20 seems impossible for me😅
I hear you! So many poeple start off barely being able tro do 5 seconds. But over time, practicing it daily, many poeple do improve. I hope you keep trying.
Is this for 70yrs and over, cause im 63 and i can do it without rocking or holding out my hands
This is the easiest balance exercise. Age doesnt determine if it is hard, instead its your ability level. If you are having trouble with your balacne, this exericse can help.
